Skerk Malvasia Carso 2017

Sandi Skerk's property is only 500m from the border of Slovenia in the Carso appellation of Friuli in the far North Eastern corner of Italy. Skerk's wines are made naturally, with very little SO2 in his winemaking, and using long skin contact for the whites. Sandi is one of the great winemakers making natural wine well; his wines show impressive clarity, balance, and depth on the palate. The Malvasia comes from vineyards planted in 1975, 1997, and 2004. Destemmed, with maceration on the skins for 30 days in wooden vats of medium size with 4-5 punchdowns per day.
