95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "My favorite in the lineup, the 2017 Condrieu Le Grand Vallon comes from 20-year-old vines and was brought up 20% new oak. This medium gold-colored Condrieu gives up beautiful white peach, salty minerality, white flowers, and spiced citrus aromas and flavors. It's rich, textured, and beautifully balanced, with more mid-palate concentration and depth than most in the vintage. It’s a brilliant effort in this more challenging vintage. (12/20/18)"
94 points Wine Spectator: "This sports juicy and ripe peach, apricot and melon flavors, but has the cut and freshness to carry it off, as heather, verbena and green almond notes streak through. Features length and excellent focus for a wine with such a showy persona. Drink now through 2022. 830 cases made, 80 cases imported. (4/30/19)"
94 points Joe Czerwinski (Wine Advocate): "Barrel-fermented and aged in 20% new oak, Villard's 2017 Condrieu le Grand Vallon was my favorite of his three releases I tasted. Subtle hints of pencil shavings accent flowers and apricots on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is plump, silky and fresh, with ample power, zest and hints of peppery spice on the lingering finish. It should drink well for 3-4 years. Drink: 2018-2022. (Dec 2018)"
93 points James Suckling: "This is delivered as a more ambitious style; oak adds spiced-almond aromas to the fresh apricot and ginger notes. The palate is very fresh, lithe and juicy with an exceptionally rich, long and plush feel. Builds nicely. Drink now. (10/6/20)"
