Producer notes: "El Galpon started as an experiment to see how Carneros Pinot Noir would age in concrete. It was originally intended as a blending component (and is still used in this way) but in 2015 I decided, somewhat on a lark, to bottle a small amount on its own. The results were fascinating. It is wonderfully fresh, somewhat lighter bodied than the 'regular' Shop bottling (oak adds some body and richness, even neutral oak). 'El Galpon' means shed in Spanish. It seems to me that this wine is best suited to drinking young. I don’t know, to be honest, whether the unadorned freshness of this wine points towards longer aging potential or not—but the purity of the wine is intriguing and I wanted to capture that. 50 cases bottled."
