92-95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Pinot Noir Ryan Widdoes Vineyard is one of the highlights in this range of Pinots. Bright, floral notes and punch, red-toned fruit give the 2016 presence and vivacity. A rush of pomegranate, red cherry, blood orange and star anise build into the voluptuous, racy finish. There is so much to like here. The Widdoes emerges from a dry farmed parcel planted with Martini clone Pinot, which is always so distinctive. (Apr 2018)"

94 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate): "Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir Ryan has notions of crushed black cherries, blackberries and black raspberries with touches of anise, fertile loam, truffles and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied with a firm frame of grainy tannins and bags of freshness, it finishes long with a firm, compelling grip. Drink: 2018-2028. (Jun 2018)"

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "From the cooler Green Valley portion of the Russian River, the 2016 Pinot Noir Widdoes Vineyard shows the classic, balanced, yet sexy style of this vintage. Terrific black raspberries, blueberries, ground herbs, and floral notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, forward, textured 2016 that has good acidity and impeccable balance. It’s going to keep for 10-12 years, although there’s no need to delay gratification either. (6/5/18)"

92 points Wine Spectator: "Elegant, with concentrated poached plum, cherry tart and dark currant flavors that feature rich, loamy accents. Mineral and spice notes emerge on the vibrant finish. Drink now through 2024. 900 cases made. (4/30/19)"

92 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "Its quiet start belies this wine's soaring depth as it opens slowly in the glass to aromas of red cherry and crème brûlée with nuanced notes of dried flowers and brush. It is more full in body than not, yet its lively balance and the early hints of a developing velvety texture take center stage and speak to its promise. Expect the wine to grow and gain added range and sophistication over the next half-decade or more. Its sheer beauty may be hard to ignore today, but the wine is now only hinting at its potential. (Feb 2019)"

Producer notes: "Vivid flavors of tiny wild berry fruits, bursting with intensity, are supported by vibrant pinpoint acidity that ensures all elements flow to the last lingering echo of flavor. Black pepper and cedar box aromas comingle with pure dark cherry compote flavors as beautiful floral notes are found throughout, the texture deep and layered. For me, the quality and personality align with the 2015 vintage, a wine I particularly love. I’m also reminded of the 2012 vintage, a deep, showy wine that is drinking wonderfully right now. Drink between 2019 and 2026. Barrel aged 14 months in 50% new French oak. 900 cases produced."
