93 points James Halliday (Wine Companion): "Very slick starting with the dark purple-garnet hue, the black pepper and spice, the cedary buffed oak, touch of bitter walnut, twigs and the black-berried fruit with menthol. The full-bodied palate unfurls to richness, plush tannins and a flourish of sweet fruit. Drink By: 2025. Alcohol 14%. Date Tasted: 01 Jan 2017. (Aug 2017)"

90 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "[$35 list] Bright violet color. Intense spice- and mineral-laced black and blue fruit aromas show very good clarity and pick up a floral nuance with air. On the palate, juicy, nicely focused cassis and boysenberry flavors become sweeter with aeration. A smoky quality comes up on the finish, which clings with very good tenacity and just a hint of dusty tannins. This lively shiraz is carrying a fairly low pH of 3.5 and 13.2% alcohol, so it's pretty Old World in numbers as well as in style. (Jul 2014)"

90 points Wine Spectator: "[$35 list] Has a sense of presence, with fresh, herb-tinged flavors of thyme, cranberry and pomegranate at the core. Notes of matcha green tea and baking spices linger in the background. Drink now through 2027. 2,000 cases made. (7/31/17)"

Producer notes: "This wine is deep crimson in color with hints of purple at the rim. On the nose, intense lifted aromas of ripe red berries play with notes of violet, pepper and dark chocolate. The palate is full bodied with complex forest fruits, spice and velvety tannins leading to an elegant, long finish."
