92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "Bertrand Chevillon said that losses due to the frost were from 50-80% of a normal crop... The fruit here is ripe, almost syrupy, but without sacrificing freshness or purity. Those lucky enough to obtain some of the wine will find that as usual, the quality here is superb... Here, the nose has spiced dark fruits. They continue in the mouth with purity, good concentration, and freshness. The wine admirably displays the outstanding Chaignots terroir. (11/29/17)"

94 points Tim Atkin, MW. (Jan 2018)

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2016 Chaignots chez Chevillon has turned out brilliantly this year and is one of the best young vintages of this cuvée that I have tasted in several years. The bouquet is pure and simply stunning, delivering a marvelous blend of sappy plums and black cherries, raw cocoa, a superb base of soil tones, pigeon and a deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a sappy core, great backend mineral drive, suave tannins and a long, focused and perfectly balanced finish. A stunning young Nuits. 2024-2065. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

92 points Jasper Morris, MW: "10 barrels from 1.5 ha of old vines. Rich deep colour, vigorous fruit, an excellent supple texture, the fruit still more at the front, weaving in both red and black notes, lovely density and finishes very well. (Jan 2018)

90-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.5 ha parcel that blends 40+ and 60+ year old vines). A more deeply pitched nose offers up notes of plum, dark raspberry and more evident earth and spice influences. The sleek and mineral-inflected flavors possess a lovely underlying tension while delivering fine depth and persistence on the firm, moderately austere and balanced finale. Drink: 2024+. (Jan 2018)"

90-92 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots has wonderful purity on the nose, a serious step up from the village cru this year--bright red cherry and bergamot scents pouring from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, bright red cherry and wild strawberry fruit and impressive tension. This is like a coiled spring. Matured in two year oak, it manages to attain a sensuality that is already very engaging. Very fine. Drink: 2021-2035. (Dec 2017)"
