Producer notes: "This 2016 Carignane is my first ever release of this variety, which is widely planted throughout both Spain and France and used to be responsible for many 'jug' wines coming out of California decades ago. It is considered a Rhone variety, and has made a resurgence, generally as a blending variety. I brought the grapes in, foot stomped them, then fermented them 100% whole cluster. After pressing, the wine was aged for 10 months in older French oak and then bottled in early September, 2017. It is a vibrant wine that is somewhat light on its feet, clocking in at only about 12% alcohol. A great food wine and one that is perfect for your continued exploration of Rhone varieties!"
