93-95 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2012 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is tighter and more laconic on the nose compared to the Griotte, which is usual. With a little encouragement there is just a suggestion of brine, something from the deep dark sea. The palate is fresh and vibrant right from the start with fine tannins, very smooth in the mouth with impressive density and weight. This is a vin de garde for sure, with a lovely touch of white pepper lingering on the aftertaste. (Dec 2013)"

92-95 points and 'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .60 ha parcel split 50/50 between Chapelle and En Gémeaux). Deep ruby color. A very ripe yet wonderfully fresh and expressive nose features notes of cassis, plum, black cherry and a broad array of spice nuances. There is a highly seductive mouth feel to the velvet-textured, powerful and robust big-bodied flavors that display plenty of minerality and drive on the exceptionally persistent finish. It's relatively rare that Ponsot's Chapelle surpasses his Griotte but in 2012 it appears to have just a bit more depth of material. We will of course see in time but this certainly appears very promising. (Jun 2014)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2012 Chapelle-Chambertin chez Ponsot was one of the wines that I felt was pushing the limits of ripeness a touch, but this may well just be a stage in the wine’s evolution and it may never stray over the line into the realm of sur maturité. The very ripe nose wafts from the glass in a blend of black cherries, dark chocolate, woodsmoke, grilled game, black minerality and a bit of a balsamic tone in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and voluptuous to the core, with ripe tannins and outstanding length and grip on the focused and ripely velvety finish. This will be a superb wine if it does not stray over the line into overripe tones, and if it maintains its position on this side of the border, then my score will prove to be unduly conservative. 2022-2055. (Nov/Dec 2013)"
