****Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "The deep bronze color is eye-catching; excellent purity. The opening aroma is rife with scents of soy sauce, olive brine, peat, and honey; seven more minutes unleash a whole other universe of mature aroma, one that features oloroso sherry, brewer's yeast, bread dough, barley malt, and cigar smoke; a memorable nosing experience. The entire flavor phase, from palate entry through midpalate, defines 'classy Islay,' that lovely maritime location that magically includes the innate intense peatiness of Islay malts and the masterly employment of oak barrels; a perfect marriage. Concludes sweetly, without sacrificing the tangy, astringent peatiness that is inherent. An elegant malt that artfully navigates the waters between Ardbeg and Laphroaig on one side and Bowmore and Caol Ila on the other. Gorgeous."

92 points Wine Spectator: "This is a classic, pungent Islay single malt which makes a terrific pairing with smoked salmon, shellfish or Roquefort, bowling over the senses with Lapsang souchong, kipper, sweet vanilla, thick malt, iodine and spice notes. (10/31/19)"
