91 points and 'Year's Best Pinot Noir,' Wine & Spirits: "Clean, subtle and long on red fruit flavor, this is a light-bodied pinot with scents of iodine and minerals that layer over the fruit. It’s strawberry jam without sweetness, the fruit clarity refined by the wine’s salinity. This is Peay’s second label; about half of the fruit came from Peay’s estate vineyard, the balance from the Campbell Ranch, nearby in Annapolis. Serve it with roast fish. (Apr 2013)"

90 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Vivid red. Spicy red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by notes of dried rose, orange zest and minerals. Taut and bracing on entry, offering bitter cherry and raspberry flavors and a sexy floral pastille quality. Vibrant, precise and gently sweet on the finish, with the red berry and rose notes echoing. Nicely balanced pinot, with no excess fat whatsoever; it's a great value as well. (May/Jun 2013)"

Producer notes: "The 2011 Cep Pinot noir delivers the balance, elegance and complexity you would expect from de-classified barrels of Peay Vineyards Pinot noirs. A larger than normal portion of the little fruit we picked in the 2011 vintage went into Cep, resulting in a pretty, bright and feminine expression of Pinot noir. The high-toned, feminine nose is captivating with light raspberry and strawberry notes mingled with deeper spice and tea notes. The charming fruit and floral notes dance on the palate making the 2011 Cep pinot delicious to enjoy young or with a few years in bottle. 350 cases."
