94 points Wine Spectator: "[$100 list] Toast and cola notes frame rich plum and fig flavors in this concentrated red, which is bright and polished, though there's depth under the muscular tannins. Impressive in the modern style. Best from 2011 through 2021. (6/30/10)"
93 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "The 2006 Torre Muga is opaque purple-colored with an appealing nose of smoke, pencil lead, Asian spices, balsamic, and blackberry. A bit lean on the palate but with savory flavors, it will not make old bones but is approachable now. (Jun 2010)"
93 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "(75% tempranillo, 15% mazuelo and 10% graciano) Opaque ruby. Musky, complex and powerfully scented, with floral-accented red and dark berry aromas, complemented by notes of spicecake and minerals. Lush, sweet raspberry and mulberry flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and pick up a bitter chocolate note with air. Dusty tannins add grip to a very long, smoky finish, which leaves sweet red fruit and floral pastille notes behind. This was raised in all new French oak after fermentation in large American oak vats, but the wood is an afterthought. (Nov/Dec 2010)"
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Among the world’s bruising, full-bodied wines, Torre Muga is a flag bearer. This vintage offers cola, pepper, coffee and sweet blackberry fruit aromas, and the palate is tannic, acidic, grabby and full of life. Flavors of blackberry, dark plum and spice are pure as they come, with espresso on the finish. Let this sit another few years to allow the fierce tannins to mellow; best 2012-2017. (Oct 2010)"
92 points Peñín Guide: "(tempranillo, mazuelo, graciano). Colour: cherry, garnet rim. Nose: ripe fruit, spicy, creamy oak, toasty, complex, dark chocolate. Palate: powerful, flavourful, toasty, powerful tannins, roasted-coffee aftertaste. (2011)"
