In the Valpolicella zone, besides Amarone, one also finds Recioto (detailed under the Amarone heading) and Valpolicella itself, which in turn can take the form of normale (garden variety red table wine made form Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara) or ripasso. The latter starts life as normale, but in the spring following harvest the wine is "passed over" the Recioto lees, causing a minor refermentation and infusing the ripasso with the barest hint of Amarone character.

Other reds native to the Veneto include Bardolino (same grapes as for Valpolicella) from the southeastern shores of Lake Garda and Raboso from the region's eastern reaches.
Whites tend toward the crisp and refreshing, such as Lugana and Soave, the latter, in the right hands, capable of punching above its weight in terms of minerality and general flavor interest.
