92 points PinotReport: "[$45 list] Medium-deep ruby color; deep, stewed cherry and plum aromas with spice and pepper notes; rich, ripe, complex plum and cherry flavors with black pepper and toasty oak notes; good structure and balance; long finish. Complex, ripe flavors make this well-structured Pinot great to drink on its own or to pair with a hearty meat dish. 350 cases made. (1/15/12)"
90 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from Sta Rita Hills, 350 cases, SRP $45, 14.5%). A pretty mix of upper and lower register aromas that include violets, plum, dark berry fruit and hints of cranberry introduce round, delicious and attractively complex flavors that are quite ripe yet there is no evidence of excess maturity though there is a mild grapey character on the slightly warm finish. Still, while this is a full-on and very generous effort, the tannins are sophisticated and there is a lovely sense of underlying reserve. Drink: 2013+. (Oct 2011)"
PinotFile: "[$45 list] 14.5% alc., 298 cases. A blend of grapes from Kessler-Haak, Yard and Turner vineyards. Clones 113, 777, 114, 2A and Pommard. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels. Attractive aromas of fresh red and black fruits with a hint of vanilla cream and toasted oak improving in the glass over time. Medium-weight core of earthy plum and mixed berry fruit backed by mild firm tannins. A solid wine that lacks a little intensity and definition, but is well-made and perfectly fine for daily drinking. Good. (7/1/11)"
Producer notes: "This wine is made from three of the best vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills: Turner, Yard, and Kessler-Haak. Subtle floral aromas of honeysuckle, orange blossoms and jasmine. Spicy mid-palate with a deep, dry finish and rich tannins. Ruby color, complex aromas with nice minerality and balance. Rich mid-palate with deep earthiness on the finish. Medium-bodied wine accented with vanilla spice, black cherry, and plum. Well balanced with great textures. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels. 298 cases produced."
