88 points Robert Parker: "[$20 list] Deeper, richer and more complex, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Bordeaux varietals such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. It offers cedary black currant notes intertwined with hints of cherries and loamy soil, lush tannins, medium to full body and rich fruit. It should drink nicely for a minimum of 4-5 years. (Aug 2011)"
WHWC staff notes: "If you're looking for your summer Cabernet, look no further, because the RouteStock is a winner. As a Cabernet drinker, I was on a quest to find the right style of Cabernet to have this summer. I'll have my fair share of whites and rosés. But, if you're like me, there are times when you need to heed the call for a nice bottle of red instead. My goal was set. Many wines were tasted but only one could win. This one really stood out amongst the rest. I know what you're thinking, a Cabernet blend for a warm day? Yep, that's correct. As a Cabernet lover I was looking for a bottle of wine that was fruity yet had good balance. The wine itself offers hints of cherry and blackberry with a medium body with a nice long finish. A perfect wine that also craves food pairing. Give this Cabernet blend (86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 2% Petite Verdot and 2% Malbec) a chance and you won't be sorry. Highly recommended by me." -Daniel Herrera, 8/14/12
Producer notes: "The highly aromatic nose showcases a variety of dark fruits with hints of leather, tobacco and violets. On the palate the wine delivers a rush of plum, currant, black cherry and anise, with a subtle oak structure and soft, approachable tannins. Vanilla and kirsch make an appearance in the finish, which is long and complete. Cabernet Sauvignon 86%, Cabernet Franc 6%, Merlot 4%, Petit Verdot 2%, Malbec 2%. Barrel aged 18 months in 1- and 2-year-old French oak. Alcohol 14.8%."
