The intensity and sheer depth of the fruit manages to virtually bury the tannins, but they are there. As delicious as this is today, it will be even better in a few years' time. 94 points Fine Wine Review: "Castello di Neive is the sole owner of the Santo Stefano vineyard (selling some of the grapes to Bruno Giacosa for one of Giacosa’s top wines). This is a classic, irresistible for drinking already, Nebbiolo’s stern reputation notwithstanding. The nose is classic tar, roses, and cherries, and the mouth is full-bodied, round and enveloping with red cherry fruit and chocolate overtones. There’s tannin, so this wine will age, but at the same time there is so much fruit and the tannins are so round that the wine is not particularly astringent. 14.5% stated alcohol. (Issue #134; 2012)"
