93+ points Fine Wine Review: "The Forster Jesuitengarten Spätlese is spicy in the nose, but still quite circumspect. In the mouth, the wine is medium-sweet and medium-full with spicy fruit -- a classic from this great vineyard. (Issue #131/132; 2011)"

91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$40 list] Von Buhl pulled way back on the residual sugar in their 2009 Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Spatlese compared with other recent vintages, and the result is more than sweet enough to support both its decadent, musky floral perfume of peony and heliotrope and its very ripe peach fruit, yet discreet enough to be well-balanced even for immediate consumption. Peach kernel, green herbs, salt, and crushed stone all serve for fascinating counterpoint, and a soothingly creamy texture is allied to refreshing primary juiciness and lift. This ought to delight for at least a dozen years; though I am not convinced it is structured for longer-keeping. (Feb 2011)"

Rudi Wiest Selections: "The nose is an exciting mix of white peach fruit, with darker black licorice notes. Interestingly the wine doesn't have quite the residual sugar you'd expect for Pfalz Spätlese (only 41 gm/l), so it's well delineated and delicate in form. There are peach and orange flavors on the palate with an undercurrent of brown sugar. The wine shows very well, and is easily one of our favorite Spätlesen of the vintage."
