91 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "From the very first sniff through to its long, crisply balanced finish, this vital, carefully structured young wine exhibits a particularly fine sense of proportion as regards its mix of perfectly ripened apples, toast and creamy oak. As rich as it may be, however, it possesses a real sense of refinement and grace, and, while there should be no absolutely doubts about its ability to grow into better with time, we admit that it will be tempting to pull a few corks early on. (Nov 2009)"

PinotFile: "14.1% alc., pH 3.47, 378 cases. 100% barrel fermented, 50% MLF. Aged 10 months in 40% new and 60% one and two-year old French oak barrels. Aromas of grilled pineapple, baked pear, lime, sawdust and hay bale. The flavors echo the nose with added notes of baked apples and lemon zest with a faint woody note. Nice harmony and well-crafted... (5/16/11)"

Producer notes: "Purchased and developed by Gary & Debbie Farrell in 1999, Cresta Ridge Vineyard is highly coveted for its cool, Green Valley location and highly desirable Goldridge soils. The 'no expense spared' approach to development, included matching devigorating rootstocks with low-yielding clones and close vine-spacing; 'stressing' the plants into producing small quantities of very high quality fruit. Wines produced from the Taurin Block (Gary’s favorite) have proven successful, receiving 90+ ratings year after year.

Tasting notes: Classic aromas of fresh lemon grass, citrus and green apple exude from this brilliantly clean wine. On the palate, flavors mirror aromatics, but are infused with a classic, elegant minerality and subtle spicy-oak nuances. This wine is built on a platform of structural integrity; and while its generous fruit profile always commands center stage, it is the supporting acidity and lower alcohol that allows that fruit to build and retain its "leading role" through the long, refreshing finish. Aged in 100% French oak (45% new) for 10 months. 50% ML fermentation (in barrel). 14.1% alc. 469 cases produced."
