92 points Fine Wine Review: "The Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett is dusty in the nose but I am confident that it will develop. In the mouth, the wine has a sparkling attack and is long but still needs more time to develop. Slate soils here, so expect minerality. 8.5% stated alcohol. (Issue #127; 2010)"
91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2008 Leistenberg Kabinett is a very worthy successor to the surreal Kabinett produced by Herr Dönnhoff in 2007. The bouquet is deep, slatey and very elegant, as it offers up a refined mélange of green apples, white cherries, flinty slate tones, apple blossoms on and wild yeasts in the upper register. On the palate the wine is mediumbodied, poised and classically etched, with bright acids, beautiful focus and a very long, refined and very transparent finish. A lovely, dancing and ethereal Kabinett. 2011-2030. (Mar/Apr 2009)"
91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$35 list] Mint and oregano; lime and blueberry; quarry dust and struck flint scent Donnhoff-s 2008 Oberhauser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett, which displays juicy citrus and cooling herbal notes on a palate of notable compactness and slatey intensity, dramatically different from the delicacy of the corresponding Krotenpfuhl. High-toned herbal essences, refreshing citrus, invigoratingly tart berry skin, and almost implacable minerality mark the long finish as well. This will be fascinating to follow for 12-15 years, during which it should gain in complexity and might display a more delicate and winsome side. (Feb 2010)"
