87 points James Suckling: "Aromas of black currant and dark cherry. A medium-bodied Pinot with slightly rough tannins. The palate has some dark chocolate with a powdery finish. Drink now. Screw cap. (6/11/12)"
Producer notes: "This Pinot Noir has a brilliant deep, ruby red color with intense aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, and cherry, highlighted by spice and toasty oak. Fresh, rich ripe flavors of black cherry, cola and plum layered with a subtle touch of vanilla oak and raspberry. Aged in French oak for 10 months."

Silky and gently sweet, with spicy red and dark berry flavors and a refreshingly bitter anise quality. Gains weight on the finish but maintains vivacity, leaving floral and spice qualities behind. 92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "(12.6% alcohol): Bright red. High-pitched aromas of blackberry and cherry, with complicating notes of potpourri, spicecake and smoky minerals. Tight and energetic, offering a silky texture, intense red and dark fruit flavors, and a subtle lavender pastille quality. Gains flesh and heft with air but with no loss of vivacity or focus. Fine-grained tannins add shape to the spicy, penetrating, very long finish. (May 2012)"
'Good (+),' PinotFile: "12.6% alc. This vineyard is located in the Green Valley and is farmed by owners Ron Black and Stephen Bessone. Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. The nose unfolds slowly in the glass, revealing aromas of dark red cherries and raspberries with hints of clove and other spices. Relatively light in weight and somewhat lean in style, with flavorful black cherry fruit caressed by supple tannins, and underlain with tight acidity. Admirable length with welcome freshness and accessibility. (6/25/12)"
Producer notes: "The nose is rich in exotic kirsch, violets, warm earth, and carnation. The wine’s texture is lush and deep but very well-delineated by balanced acids. While charming now and perhaps our most accessible wine early on, the wine’s focused length and chewy tannins will allow for years of aging."

Producer notes: "100% Pinot Noir from Silver Pines Vineyard, Bennett Valley, Sonoma County. Clones: 80% Mariafeld, 20% Pommard. Raised for 10 months in 100% French oak (80% new). The Vagrant is the only Pinot Noir that will bear the Argot name from the 2010 vintage. The production level is tragically low. What arrives in the glass is a stunning Pinot Noir that will caress every nook and cranny of your sensorial experience. Each bottle we have opened has offered immediate gratification. We believe The Vagrant will reward short term cellaring. We adore this juice." Argot winemaker Justin Harmon crafts small lots of white and red wines including Pinot Noir at Vinify in Santa Rosa.

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir Ritchie Vineyard is an attractive, mid-weight wine laced with sweet red cherries, flowers, spices and French oak. It shows lovely mid-palate sweetness and inner perfume in an attractive, mid-weight style best suited for near-term drinking. Today the Ritchie comes across as just a bit compact and one-dimensional next to the other 2010 Pinots. With air, though, the wine blossoms nicely. Freshly cut roses and spices waft from the delicate, feminine finish. It will be fascinating to follow this precise, crystalline beauty over the coming years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. 93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard comes across as very tight, but then opens up, with plums, black cherries, tar, minerals and licorice some of the nuances taking shape in the glass. The 2010 UV needs another year or two in bottle at the very least. There is an element of unrestrained wildness that runs through the 2010 UV. The heavy presence of clay in this site comes through in the wine’s broad-shouldered personality. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. (Feb 2012)"
PinotFile: "15.3% alc. Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. The nose highlights blackberry and black plum fruit with a noticeable oak contribution. Soft and smooth with generous flavors of blackberries and black plum sauce accented with hints of oak spice and vanilla. Good
fruit-driven length on the finish that leaves a little heat in its wake. Good. (12/10/12)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard is the richest and most expressive of these 2010 Pinots. It also shows the best balance of aromatics, fruit, acidity and tannin. Soy, mocha, the blackest of cherries and white flowers are some of the notes that flesh out in the glass. Delicately woven layers of nuance distinguish the UV-SL. This is a striking wine in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. (Feb 2012)"
PinotFile: "15.0% alc. Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Aromas of smoky oak, tea leaf, oil and faint black fruit jam. Oak-infused flavors of dark berries, plum and cassis. Meaty with plenty of dry tannin, finishing juicy with good acidity. A man’s Pinot with full-on extraction displaying more oak at presence than I prefer. Well-crafted in its style. Good. (12/10/12)"

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright red. Enticing, spice-accented aromas of red berries, candied cherry, rose oil and star anise. Suave, silky and expansive, with juicy, sharply delineated flavors of redcurrant, raspberry and candied flowers. A strikingly long, sappy, impressively focused finish shows alluring sweetness, resonating florality and only a hint of tannins. (Nov/Dec 2012)"
91 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(14.7%). This is also distinctly floral in character with similar spice notes adding breadth to the elegant and pure red cherry and raspberry scented nose. There is first-rate complexity to the intense and energetic flavors that possess a silky mid-palate while culminating in a textured, dusty and mildly austere finish. This also manages to carry its alcohol well because while the warmth is noticeable, it manages to remain a background element. Drink: 2016+. (Oct 2012)"
90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "Brewer-Clifton’s 2010 Pinot Noir opens up with striking, beguiling aromatics from the use of 100% whole clusters. It is an utterly impeccable, layered Pinot endowed with tons of clarity and finesse. The 2010 impresses for its energy and sheer brilliance. Simply put, the 2010 is a fabulous wine for the money. It remains one of the highest quality and easiest to find Santa Rita Hills Pinots. The vineyard sources are Mt. Carmel, Machado, 3-D, Sebastiano and Ampelos. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. (Aug 2012)"
90 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light ruby; fragrant, spicy, herbal, cranberry and cherry fruit aroma with hints of cinnamon, clove, and cardamom; medium to medium-full body; elegant, rich, spicy, well balanced, cherry and red berry fruit flavors; medium tannin; lingering aftertaste. Developed some complexity as it aired in the glass. Very highly recommended. 14.7% alcohol; 1,850 cases; released Spring 2012. (Aug 2012)"
Producer notes: "This bottling is a veritable symphony of diverse pinot noir vineyards from within the AVA. Mount Carmel, 3-D, Machado, Ampelos, Zotovich and Sebastiano all contribute to the wine which exhibits a drive, richness and pedigree expressive of our special growing area coupled with the purity of fruit and firm structure which have been the trademark of Brewer-Clifton. Dark plum, anise, and Pu-erh tea aromatics set the stage for the flavors of dried cherries, dried wild mushroom and baker’s cocoa flavors that follow. Tender and cohesive in the mouth with a very firm and savory palate impression and finish. 1,850 cases produced."

Producer notes: "Brilliant and dark-hued, this 2010 de Villiers Vineyard Pinot Noir effuses playful, bright aromas of blackberry, licorice, mineral and just a hint of sweet oak. The wine is deep and smooth, with black cherry, spice and persistent cherry. Fine grained tannins offer a graceful structure and persisten juicy finish. 2,009 cases produced. Alcohol 13.8%."
Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 96+ points by Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir De Villiers Vineyard, from vines planted in 1997, bursts from the glass with expressive, juicy fruit. Dark red berries, flowers, mint, spices and an orange rind follow, leading to a generous, inviting finish. The De Villiers is the only vineyard-designate Pinot made from fully de-stemmed fruit. It is a towering wine of incomparable class and elegance. Simply put, this is a stunning showing from Calera. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024."

Impeccable balance with well use of oak accents, offering restrained tannins, good length, and easy drink ability. '2012 California Value Priced Pinot Noir First Team All-Americans,' PinotFile: "14.5% alc. Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. Very seductive aromas of fully ripened cherries with hints of spice, leather and dark chocolate. Delicious core of black raspberry and black cherry fruit framed by toasty oak and a bright cut of acidity. The finish is crazy long: my notes say amazing! Beautifully composed and balanced. Reminds me of a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir in character but with better acidity typical of Anderson Valley. Impressive debut. (6/25/12)"
Producer notes: "Characteristic aromas/flavors: Blueberry, red earth, and nutmeg spice with hints of violet, toffee and oolong tea. Structure: Silky and generous entry, slate-like minerality, and muscular tannin on the Finish - a testament to high altitude winegrowing. 100% whole berry, no stems. Aged 9 months in French oak barrels (30% new)."

Producer notes: "The 2009 Tous Ensemble Pinot is an embodiment of the earthy, sweet beet root undertones that are indicative of Anderson Valley Pinot. Medium bodied with vibrant dark red fruits on the nose and palate, it delivers pure, focused flavors with a great lift on the finish from the acidity. Perfect to drink now or over the next 5-7 years. Alcohol 12.9%."
Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 90 points by International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Subtly aromatic nose of cherry, mocha, cinnamon and musky herbs. Smooth and expressive, with dark cherry and spice flavors and an appealing pliant texture. Nicely concentrated and seamless, with very good finishing breadth and cling. Aeration allows this wine to stretch out so give it an hour or so in a decanter if it's on your upcoming drinking list. (May/Jun 2011)"

91 points California Grapevine: "Medium ruby; attractive, forward, ripe, plummy, black cherry and red berry fruit aroma with toasty notes and hints of clove and sassafras; medium-full body; forward, rich, plummy, cherry and berry fruit flavors with firm acidity; medium to medium-full tannin; slightly harsh on the finish; lingering aftertaste. Shows good depth and some complexity, and deserving a few more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 14.1% alcohol; released June 2012. (Oct 2012)"
Producer notes: "8 vineyard blend: 34% Dutton Ranch, 16% Gunsalus, 12% DuMOL Estate, 10% Abbott, 8% Hansel, 8% Joy Rd, 6% Greywacke, and 6% Sonoma Stage. Bright ruby red. Warm, inviting aromas draw you in: bright and lively then dark and complex. Wild cherry, fresh raspberry, sassafras and grilled meat. Complex tobacco and cocoa notes. Juicy palate entry then a fine interplay between red and black fruits. Black tea, cranberry and apple skin tartness. Darker woodsy-truffle notes. Broad silky texture develops with air but always framed by muscular enveloping tannins. Finish sails on and on. Serve at 60 degrees (not too warm) to fully capture the wine’s wonderful purity."

94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir Estate DuMol Estate is another of the more elegant, textured wines in the range. It captures a highly appealing stylistic middle ground between the Ryan and the Widdoes, with the aromatics and silkiness of the former and the fruit density of the latter. Sweet and perfumed through to the finish, the DuMol Estate is pure sexiness in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. (Apr 2013)"
92 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby; attractive, forward, intense, spicy, complex, raspberry and black cherry fruit aroma with hints of cocoa, clove, sassafras, and forest floor; medium-full body; forward, rich, textured, spicy, concentrated, cranberry and black cherry flavors with firm acidity and overtones of toasty oak; medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Developed with airing in the glass and shows good aging potential. Very highly recommended. 14.1% alcohol; 813 cases; released November 2012. (Feb 2013)"
92 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "Picking a favorite from the current DuMOL bunch is no easy task, but this stunning wine vies for top honors by dint of its amazing depth. It manages to be both very rich and refined at one and the same time, and, from first sniff to finish, it presents a wealth of juicy young fruit juxtaposed with creamy oak and root-beer-like spice. It never gives in to simple sweetness but is instead a serious, many-layered wine of immense richness and savor, and it has the structure and stamina of one that will age famously for a good many years. (Feb 2013)"
'Very good,' PinotFile: "14.1% alc., 787 cases. Released November 2012. Sourced from DuMOL Estate Vineyard, Calera, Swan, Pommard, 667 and 777. Yield 2.1 tons per acre from 6- year-old vines. Aged 14 months in 55% new French oak barrels. Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Evocatively nuanced aromatic profile offering an array of scents including black cherry, dark berry, forest floor, baking spice, oak cask and old wallet. Moderately rich and very flavorful with intense flavors of black plum, dark berries with an earthy undertone and a hint of spice and vanilla. The attention-getting mid palate attack is followed by a lengthy fruit-driven finish. Well-structured tannins give the wine substance and balance the powerful fruit. Probably the most intensely fruity wine in the 2010 lineup. A muscular ballet dancer. (2/28/13)"
Producer notes: "Brilliant deep rose color. Penetrating floral, fruit and herbal aromas: black cherry and raspberry, fresh herbs, fragrant flowers, toffee and cocoa powder. Great vineyard purity with tightly entwined aromas and flavors. Dark fruits, earth, fresher blueberry, orange zest, a hint of black olive. Structured back end with lifting acidity and youthful tannins. Drink between 2013 and 2022. Native yeast and malolactic fermentations then aged 14 months in French oak barrels, 55% new. 787 cases produced."

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir Ryan Widdoes Vineyard has a certain heaviness to it that I personally find less interesting than some of the other wines in the range. The fruit is boisterous and rich, but there is quite a bit less in the way of energy, minerality or tension. By just about any other producer’s standards, this would be a fabulous wine, but at DuMol the 2010 Ryan is only outstanding. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. (Apr 2013)"
91 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby; attractive, forward, fragrant, spicy, earthy, raspberry and cherry fruit aroma with hints of cinnamon and cola; medium to medium-full body; rich, textured, cherry and red berry fruit flavors that are expansive and well balanced with bright acidity; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Enjoyable to taste now though deserving a few more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 14.2% alcohol; 1,220 cases; released November 2012. (Dec 2012)"
'Very good,' PinotFile: "14.3% alc., 1,184 cases. Released November 2012. Sourced from Widdoes Vineyard, Martini selection. Yield 2.65 tons per acre from 25-year-old vines. Aged 14 months in 45% new French oak barrels. Aged 14 months in 40% new French oak barrels. Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Slow to open in the glass, but offers considerable appeal over time. Aromas of fresh blackberry tart, forest floor, rose petal, oak and saddle. Discreetly concentrated core of black raspberry and black plum fruit with a hint of spiced chocolate and vanilla wafer. The tannins and acidity are nicely integrated and the mouth feel is very soft, creamy and sexy. (2/28/13)"
Producer notes: "Deep rose color, quite dark and brilliant. Complex floral/herbal aromas: juniper, bay leaf, anise then wild berry sweetness, kirsch, sassafras and tobacco. Great power and dimension to the palate. Rich, but never soft - a lean dynamic power. Boysenberry, maple, cocoa then mint and game. Fine tannin-acid balancing act. Fresh orange zest on the finish. Drink between 2012 and 2020. Native yeast and malolactic fermentations then aged 14 months in French oak barrels, 45% new. 1,184 cases produced."

Producer notes: "The final wine is a particularly silky, high toned Devil's Gulch offering showing the refined nature of Devil's, if not the people associated with it. In the nose, it's candied raspberry, strawberry, coriander and cloves. We love how it continues to open in the glass, and different nuances keep popping up. The mouth offers sweet red berry fruit, Asian spice overtones, and super fine, resolved tannins. The moderate alcohol and fresh acidity provide a cherry toffee finish that keeps you wanting more. This is a great match for Mark's Devil's Gulch rabbit, or any fair prepared with delicacy and nuance. 394 cases produced."

Rich, complex Pinot with a great palette of flavor. 309 cases made. (2/15/13)"
92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Dark red. Deep, dark aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, baking spices, cocoa powder and licorice; showed higher-pitched mint and violet notes with extended aeration. Rich and deep but not at all heavy, with lovely inner-palate lift to the fruit, licorice, spice and game flavors. Dense, lively wine with excellent palate presence. Finishes with suave tannins and noteworthy persistence. (May 2012)"
92 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "[$72 list] Subtle touches of fresh herbs and a trim bit of sweet oak are sympathetic partners to nicely focused, ripe red-cherry fruit first in the nose and them again in this inviting wine's lengthy flavors. Fairly full-bodied but never less than lithe and well-balanced, this engaging youngster is surprisingly easy to taste right now, but its fruity depth and keen structure tag it as a Pinot that is guaranteed to gain in polish and beauty for a half-dozen years. (Oct 2012)"
91 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$72 list] Acidity dominates this wine, giving it a tartness--like a squeeze of lime juice. Past that is an enormously rich, dry, vibrant wine, explosive in raspberries, cherries and ripe, sweet persimmons. New French oak, with its caramel-like toastiness, is perfectly in keeping with the wine’s volume. It’s a bit disjointed now, but give it 3-4 years in the cellar, and it should come around. Alcohol 13.7%. 309 cases produced. (Sep 2012)"

91 points Wine Spectator: "Tight and detailed, with loamy earth, dried berry, crushed rock, fresh plum and black cherry. Slow to unfold, but does so gracefully, ending with firm tannins. Good to cellar. Best from 2013 through 2023. (9/30/12)"
Producer notes: "The 2010 'Les Pommiers' offers aromas of Bing cherry, pomegranate and plum, with an abundance of floral and perfume notes. The wine enters the palate with an initial burst of ripe, dark fruits that give way to lush and coating tannins. As the wine ages, those abundant youthful tannins will develop suppleness and layers. The beautiful, natural acidity of this vintage creates a mouthwatering finish that leaves one wanting another taste."

The Etude winemaking team--Tony Soter, Jon Priest and Franci Ashton--follow a minimal interventionist approach in crafting their Carneros Pinot Noir, which is produced from fruit harvested from the rocky volcanic soils of Etude's estate vineyards in the northwest corner of Carneros. It reveals a dark plum/ruby color, sweet forest floor, pomegranate, plum, and cherry notes, medium to full body, superb integration of wood, acidity, and tannin, and an attractive, complex finish. Already drinking well, this wine should continue to improve for another 5-7 years.
