Producer notes: "The honey for this specialty dessert-style wine is produced in hives throughout Northern California. It is composed of a blend of three types of honey: alfalfa, sage and orange blossom. Each type brings a unique quality to the blend and contributes to the overall complexity of the Mead. Alfalfa is neutral in flavor but yields a dark, amber color. The orange blossom brings a floral bouquet to the nose of the wine. Sage brings subtle nuances into the blend. This wine is produced utilizing fresh honey without the addition of artificial flavorings, concentrates or artificial colorings. The use of pure, raw honey contributes to the intense, fresh flavors of this natural product. Although this wine exhibits richness similar to a fine liquor, this dessert-style beverage contains only 11% alcohol. This wine should be consumed shortly after purchase to enjoy its natural and rich honey flavor. The mead can be enjoyed in one of two ways, either chilled or heated with spices to create a delicious wintry drink."

Producer notes: "This is a much anticipated Rosé wine made from 98+ year old Grenache Gris vines. Strawberry, tangerine and melon excite the senses for what follows. A moment to ponder reveals floral and earthy aromas. On the palate juicy berry flavors please while the tannins and acidity prove this is a real wine that complements nearly everything on the spring and summer table."

Producer notes: "[$20 list] The color is a deep vibrant purple-edged ruby. The smells include violets, raspberry, a little cracked pepper, mulberry, and a dash of iron. Great freshness on the palate, with flavors that are full, focused, and, for now, direct and primary. It’s delicious at the table, presently, and yet, a few years in bottle will likely give even greater depth, complexity, and satisfaction."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 90 points by International Wine Cellar: "Light, vivid red. Intense, spice-accented aromas of red berries, rose and licorice, with a mineral topnote. Lively, piercing red fruit flavors show very good definition and gain sweetness with air. Floral and spice notes dominate the long, focused, seamless finish. This wine, which clocks in at only 12.4% alcohol, could stand up to plenty of serious wines from Beaujolais."

Emanuel Tres is a new project from Chris Keller, formerly of Paige 23 winery.
Producer notes: "2009 Emanuel Tres 'Blanco' is a blend in the style of Catalunya, featuring wines made from grapes from Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard in the Cuyuma Valley of eastern Santa Barbara County. The hot, arid conditions during daytime hours and the cool, breezy nights combine for intense fruit components balanced with terrific acidity providing structure and crispness on the palate. Fermented in stainless steel and made with no secondary fermentation, this wine jumps out of the glass with fresh minerality, exotic aromatics and depth of fruit. Young and vibrant, this wine is drinking very well now, and will have tremendous aging potential due to natural acidic structure and balance. 80% Grenache Blanc, 10% Viognier, 10% Roussanne. 200 cases produced."

The 2009 Tradition Red is a blend of 44% Petite Sirah, 32% Syrah, 15% Zinfandel, and 9% Nebbiolo. The grapes for this wine were harvested from mature vineyards located in Lodi and Northern Sonoma. Dark and spicy, with aromas of peppery black cherry, raspberry, smoked bacon and rose petals. Flavors of blackberry and smoky licorice. This is a great wine for those who like powerful, deep reds at a good price.

Producer notes: "Negrette has its own distinct aroma and flavor profile. It shares some of the characteristics of both Syrah and Pinot Noir. This wine has aromas and flavors of bramble fruit and cherry with spicy, old vine gaminess. It is a deeply pigmented wine with relatively low tannin and a silky smooth texture."

WHWC Staff Notes: "I am so glad I came across this little gem from current wine hot-spot, the Sierra Foothills. Already a fan of La Clarine, I discovered something truly special and unique--this is a blend of 55% Nebbiolo, 31% Mourvedre and 14% Syrah. Proprietors Caroline and Hank produce their wines as naturally as possible with very little intervention...the grapes are even foot stomped! (Hence the name 'piedi grandi', which is Italian for 'big feet.') It is medium-bodied, and its profile is wonderfully complex with a core of fresh, bold fruit over crisply defined secondary layers of pretty flowers, wet stone minerality and a subtle sweet spiciness. It is held together by a racy, acid-driven structure with light, easygoing tannins. The alcohol weighs in at a paltry 13.2%. This is a perfect spring-time quaffer, is exceptionally versatile and is a definite crowd pleaser! Unfortunately, they only produced 126 cases of this brilliant wine which is already sold out at the winery. We have a very limited amount so you must order some right now if you want to get in on this, and trust me, you do! You can truly taste the hand-crafted quality in this bottle, but luckily, not the feet." - Casey Carmichael

Producer notes: "The 2012 Indica Rosé was sourced from two new growers in the northern end of Mendocino County. Same idea in both vineyards--mid-century vines on original roots, dry-farmed, organic. The wine has more phenolic development than the 2011, more mid-palate texture, but without compromising the cleansing acidity and freshness. It’s rocking that Oeil de Perdrix hue again and it finished at 11.8% with a pH of 3.0 (gulpable factor: HIGH). It’s all nectarine pit, orange blossom, wild strawberry, watermelon rind, and stoney mineral."

92 points Wine & Spirits: "[$20 list] Ripened to tropical flavors of pineapple, this wine holds its freshness with tighter nectarine fruitiness. It has the sweet scent of lilies of the valley, and the flavors are sweet as well. Then the balance on the finish leaves a clean impression. A fine moscato to serve with fresh fruit. (Dec 2012)"
91 points The Tasting Panel: "Fresh, tangy and crisp with spice, lovely peach and slight spritz; racy and sweet with great acidity and structure."
Producer notes: "Intensely fruity and floral, yet light as air on the palate, the sweetness of the Moscato d’Oro is impeccably balanced by crisp, mouthwatering acidity. This elegant expression of orange blossom, white peach, fresh apricot and rose petal is interwoven with an unmistakable touch of honey. The clean, citrusy finish is enlivened by a soft, subtle tingle of effervescence. Alcohol 8.0%."
