Producer notes: "[$20 list] The color is a deep vibrant purple-edged ruby. The smells include violets, raspberry, a little cracked pepper, mulberry, and a dash of iron. Great freshness on the palate, with flavors that are full, focused, and, for now, direct and primary. It’s delicious at the table, presently, and yet, a few years in bottle will likely give even greater depth, complexity, and satisfaction."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 90 points by International Wine Cellar: "Light, vivid red. Intense, spice-accented aromas of red berries, rose and licorice, with a mineral topnote. Lively, piercing red fruit flavors show very good definition and gain sweetness with air. Floral and spice notes dominate the long, focused, seamless finish. This wine, which clocks in at only 12.4% alcohol, could stand up to plenty of serious wines from Beaujolais."

Producer notes: "[$40 list] This dark ruby hued Pinotage has a concentrated depth of bright, bold and luscious flavors that envelop the palate. Tiers of raspberry, blackberry and juicy plum are enhanced by a whisper of spicy sassafras that carries through the endless finish of this well-structured wine. Its rich, bold textural complexities are the perfect accompaniment to hearty meals, spicy foods and grilled meats. Alcohol 14.5%. 517 cases produced."
'Exceptional,' Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences: "This thick skinned South African grape often makes an odd wine, but here special clonal material personally cleared through official channels makes a dark, blackberry/plum scented wine with weight in the mid-palate and graceful structure. Faintly rustic finish; a great wine to serve blind to a wine snob."

93 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "(100% petit verdot) Deep ruby. Extravagantly floral bouquet offers smoky blackberry, cassis, violet, magnolia and Indian spices. Pliant dark berry flavors display liqueur-like depth, with tangy berry skin and mineral notes adding vibrancy. Silky tannins build with air and frame a sweet, sappy finish, which boasts impressive lift and persistence. One of the best New World versions of this variety I've ever tasted. (Nov/Dec 2008)"

The 2009 Tradition Red is a blend of 44% Petite Sirah, 32% Syrah, 15% Zinfandel, and 9% Nebbiolo. The grapes for this wine were harvested from mature vineyards located in Lodi and Northern Sonoma. Dark and spicy, with aromas of peppery black cherry, raspberry, smoked bacon and rose petals. Flavors of blackberry and smoky licorice. This is a great wine for those who like powerful, deep reds at a good price.

Producer notes: "Negrette has its own distinct aroma and flavor profile. It shares some of the characteristics of both Syrah and Pinot Noir. This wine has aromas and flavors of bramble fruit and cherry with spicy, old vine gaminess. It is a deeply pigmented wine with relatively low tannin and a silky smooth texture."

WHWC Staff Notes: "I am so glad I came across this little gem from current wine hot-spot, the Sierra Foothills. Already a fan of La Clarine, I discovered something truly special and unique--this is a blend of 55% Nebbiolo, 31% Mourvedre and 14% Syrah. Proprietors Caroline and Hank produce their wines as naturally as possible with very little intervention...the grapes are even foot stomped! (Hence the name 'piedi grandi', which is Italian for 'big feet.') It is medium-bodied, and its profile is wonderfully complex with a core of fresh, bold fruit over crisply defined secondary layers of pretty flowers, wet stone minerality and a subtle sweet spiciness. It is held together by a racy, acid-driven structure with light, easygoing tannins. The alcohol weighs in at a paltry 13.2%. This is a perfect spring-time quaffer, is exceptionally versatile and is a definite crowd pleaser! Unfortunately, they only produced 126 cases of this brilliant wine which is already sold out at the winery. We have a very limited amount so you must order some right now if you want to get in on this, and trust me, you do! You can truly taste the hand-crafted quality in this bottle, but luckily, not the feet." - Casey Carmichael

The result is a well balanced, full bodied wine overflowing with tangy raspberry, cherry, blueberry and white pepper. Alcohol 13.5%."

Producer notes: "This California Red wine is a blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Syrah, Malbec and Dolcetto grapes from across the great state of California. Erik’s the Red is not only big and chewy, but has a modicum of elegance. Smooth, cranberry, raspberry, honey, vanilla, nuts, cherry, nice soft finish. Alcohol 14.4%."
