87 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$18 list] The 2011 Chardonnay Estate is a relatively rich, buttery wine for the year and appellation, but it nevertheless shows good balance and depth, especially within its price range. Orange blossoms, nectarines and sweet spices are some of the aromas and flavors that wrap around the juicy finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2015. (Apr 2013)"
Producer notes: "There are aromas of apple, pear, butterscotch, toasted oak and a little minerality in the glass. This is a Chardonnay with a lush, rich, creamy mouthfeel, tropical notes and flavors of apple, pear and citrus, with just a touch of acidity on the finish. To retain the natural acidity we harvested 70% of our Chardonnay at night when the grapes are coolest, then cold ferment those lots in stainless steel, without malolactic fermentation or barrel aging to highlight the citrus and green apple flavors. To add balance to the wine, we whole cluster press 30% of the best fruit and barrel ferment that portion in French Oak barrels. The barrel fermented lots undergo malolactic fermentation and age on the lees for 8 months to develop roundness and body. Alcohol 14.5%."

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$35 list] Antica’s 2011 Chardonnay is laced with lemon peel, white flowers, spices and crushed rocks. In this vintage, the estate’s Chardonnay is especially rich and powerful, largely because the irregular flowering lowered yields by 50%. This is an unusual Chardonnay that is bright in its aromas and flavors but fairly broad-shouldered in style. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "The 2011 Napa Valley Chardonnay has richness, yet remains elegant and delicate. There are generous flavors of pear, melon, and nectarine that are pure, focused and lingering on the palate. The finish on the wine is complex, adding to the wine's persistence and freshness."

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Chardonnay Napa Valley bristles on the palate with gorgeous energy and vibrancy. Crushed rocks, lemon peel and white flowers are all very much alive in the glass. This is another of the truly intriguing wines in the range. The Napa is made from a parcel owned by Aubert that David Abreu planted six years ago with a Montrachet selection. The vines are naturally quite young, but the results are already striking. With time in the glass, the 2011 opens up beautifully, finishing with gorgeous richness and pure texture. This is a dazzling wine by any measure. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. (Apr 2013)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "Amazingly complex, with a rich array of fig, apricot, butterscotch, crème brûlée and roasted marshmallow notes, sailing along and gaining on the finish, where the flavors are deep and persistent. Drink now through 2019 497 cases made. (5/1/13)"
94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Chardonnay Eastside Vineyard is rich, fat and explosive. Butter, smoke, spices, apricots, orange blossoms, almonds, hazelnuts, and nectarines all burst from the glass. This is a decidedly extroverted, plush Chardonnay with tons of Russian River character. It has a bit more oiliness and fat than the Ritchie, and is also just as beautiful. A wine of pure richness and glycerin, the vinous, textured Eastside Vineyard will drink well right out of the gate. Vintage 2011 is the first release of the Eastside Vineyard, which previously went into the Russian River bottling. Vineyard guru Ulises Valdez planted this site with Montrachet clones. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. (Apr 2013)"

91 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Chardonnay CIX Vineyard is the least expressive of these single-vineyard wines. Bright floral notes meld into various shades of citrus. There is plenty of polish, but the CIX doesn’t have anywhere near the level of complexity and/or nuance of the best wines in the range. Today, the CIX appears to still be somewhat of a work in progress relative to the high level that is customary throughout the rest of the range. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. (Apr 2013)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "Aubert’s 2011 Chardonnay Lauren Vineyard flows across the palate with hints of butter, marzipan, spices, nectarines and dried apricots. Rich, voluptuous and creamy, the 2011 is another of the more overt wines in this range. Still, there is more than enough underlying minerality to balance the fruit. The old Wente and Montrachet clones work well here, but the vines are only 12 years old, which suggests the best is still very much in the future. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2019. (Apr 2013)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "Ultrarich and intense, with waves of smoke, fig, apricot and tangerine flavors, firming and narrowing on the finish. Drink now through 2018. (5/1/13)"

96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is utterly magnificent. I especially like the way the 2011 is at once unbelievably rich, but not at all heavy. Yellow stone fruit, light floral honey, nectarine and almonds inform the rich, oily finish. The 100% new barrels are imperceptible. All the elements are beautifully in place in this harmonious, voluptuous Chardonnay. This is a great, great showing from Mark Aubert. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (Apr 2013)"
93 points Wine Spectator: "The pure, rich smoke, fig, apricot and crème brûlée flavors are deep and persistent in this white, which is slow to open but gains depth, focus, persistence and length, ending with light toasted marshmallow. Drink now through 2018. 1,363 cases made. (5/1/13)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Chardonnay UV-SL Vineyard emerges from a site on the Sonoma Coast seven miles from the ocean, just above Occidental. Apricots, peaches, wild flowers, nectarine and smoke are some of the multiple nuances in the glass. The UV-SL is another of the richer, more textured wines in the lineup. At the same time, the 2011 is a wine of vivid nuance, transparency and crystalline purity. Here, too, the 100% new oak barrels are totally integrated. It is so rare to find so much detail in this creamy, big Chardonnay, but it’s all there. This is another utterly impeccable wine from Mark Aubert. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2018. (Apr 2013)"
93 points Wine Spectator: "Makes points of subtlety and finesse, with touches of creamy, smoky oak woven into a fabric of fresh-cut apple and pear, gaining richness and depth and ending with a long finish. Drink now through 2018. 488 cases made. (5/1/13)"

89 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$16 list] This is another fine Chardonnay from Talley, a great Central Coast producer. This is the second label, and for the price, you’ll get a terrific Chardonnay that’s creamy and rich in oranges, kiwi fruits and golden mangoes, but bright in acidity. Alcohol 13.7%. (May 2013)"
Producer notes: "One of the coolest summers on record resulted in long hang time and grapes with high natural acidity. The resulting wines balance refreshing acidity with concentrated flavors due to the low yields. This chardonnay has a refreshing bouquet of green apple, guava, citrus zest and white flowers. The fresh fruit theme continues on the palate with bright flavors of pear and pineapple. This clean, crisp chardonnay makes a nice aperitif and pairs well with light seafood dishes, especially shellfish. No malolactic fermentation."

Producer notes: "[$16 list] Our Russian River Chardonnay is born from two vineyards within the Russian River appellation: Wood Vineyard, located on River Rd and River Vineyard, located in the heart of Sonoma’s Russian River Valley on East Side Road. The floral, mineral, and lime aromas and steely structure of the River Vineyard are complemented by the peach and apricot aromas and more fleshy structure of the Wood Vineyard. Our winemaking philosophy remains the same since we first introduced the Russian River Chardonnay in 1993: less intervention is better in dealing with a delicate variety like chardonnay. Winemaking techniques including sur-lie aging, lees stirring, full malolactic fermentation, and the measured use of some new French oak are employed to bring you this delicious rendition from Sonoma’s premier chardonnay appellation."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 88 points by Wine Spectator: " Initially intense, yet turns delicate, with white peach, nectarine, honey, cinnamon and light oak. Very complete. Drink now."

The wine’s rich, focused, green apple, melon and guava flavors are nicely balanced by fresh acidity and a piquant mineral tone. Both mouthfilling and elegant, this quintessential Napa Valley Chardonnay is delectable now, but it will develop even greater complexity with another 5-8 years’ bottle age. 91 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "[$35 list] Long on deep and outgoing fruit and sporting a fine measure of sweet and sympathetic oak, Chappellet's latest is a wonderfully well-crafted effort whose keen varietal focus and impeccable balance earn it a spot near the head of the class. It is not a big or especially extracted wine, but it never wants for richness, and it is both concentrated and light on its feet. Its finish is long and layered, and, as tasty as it is now, it has plenty of potential to get better with age. (May 2013)"
90 points Anthony Dias Blue (The Tasting Panel): "[$35 list] Racy and crisp with bright acidity and nice citrus; long and balanced on the finish. (Apr 2013)"
'Highly Recommended,' California Grapevine: "Medium-light golden yellow; forward, buttery, baked apple aroma with spicy, lemony notes and a trace of charred oak; medium-full body; fairly rich, herbal, baked apple flavors with a hint of lemon zest and a slightly creamy mouthfeel; lingering aftertaste. 14.5% alcohol; 100% barrel fermented; 40% malolactic fermentation; released October 2012. (Apr 2013)"
'Good,' PinotFile: "[$35 list] 14.5% alc., pH 3.55, TA 0.64. From the Kelly Ranch, a cool site in the rolling hills above San Pablo Bay and the Poe and Red Hen vineyards, farmed by the Laird family. Dijon clones 95 and 96 and Robert young clone. Winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus, the winemaker at Chappellet for over twenty years. Pale straw color and clear in the glass. Oak-infused aromas of yellow peach, lemon, pastry cream and blond caramel. Tasty core of lemon cream, baked pear and toffee. Slightly creamy with complimentary oak in the background. (4/13/13)"
Producer notes: "[$35 list] Our Napa Valley Chardonnay is made using fruit grown on elite vineyards in some of the coolest regions of Napa Valley. The majority of the grapes come from Kelly Ranch, which overlooks the San Pablo Bay, where marine influences and shallow soils composed of clay and gravel create optimal growing conditions for Chardonnay. To add depth and complexity, the 2011 vintage also includes fruit from Poe Vineyard in Napa-Carneros and Red Hen Vineyard in Oak Knoll. This wine was aged on its lees for eight months in one-third new French oak barrels. For added texture and viscosity, a significant portion of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. Tasting notes: This wine offers a delicious combination of baked apple, pear and lemon zest aromas, as well as hints of hazelnut, baking spice and brioche. Additional layers of melted butter, brown sugar and beautiful spicy oak contribute to the complex Burgundian character of the nose. On the palate, this wine is fleshy and round, with enticing mineral, citrus, quince and pear flavors. Spice notes of clove, cardamom and toasted wood add an intriguing counterpoint to the fruit. All the elements seamlessly integrate, creating a rich, elegant mouthfeel that is toned by natural acidity and persists long on the finish."

Generous flavors of lemon custard, pears and apples are wrapped in a creamy mouthfeel, while a streak of stony minerality gives the wine zest and complexity. 90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Chardonnay is striking. Lemon, pastry, white flowers and nectarine all meld together gracefully in this gorgeous, totally beautiful wine. All the elements are in the right place. Sweet floral notes and a hint of peach linger on the finish. In 2011, 30% of the fruit was fermented and aged in concrete eggs, an approach that worked very nicely, to say the least. This is a totally classy introductory level Chardonnay from Failla. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. (Apr 2013)"
Producer notes: "This is the second vintage in which 20% of our young-vine Chardonnay blend was fermented and aged in concrete egg vessels. The remainder fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak, only 15% new and barely perceptible in the finished wine's flinty nose balanced with citrusy scents of grapefruit and lime filled out with a hint of jasmine and oyster-shell. The textural contributions of the concrete-fermented lots nicely balance the wine's vibrant mouth-watering acidity."

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate: "Forman’s 2011 Chardonnay is very pretty. Lemon, pastry, white flowers and spices come together nicely as this vivid wine shows off its considerable personality. The 2011 still needs time to fully harmonize in bottle. Today, it lacks some of the energy of the 2010, but nevertheless stands out for its textural purity and class. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "I love the fresh fruit opening without over-ripeness or obvious woodiness of this wine; it’s just nicely ripe Chardonnay. Sur lees aging in older barrels gives it a touch of richness and complexity to the aromas. One also has to love the flavors. Very zesty freshness beautifully frames the fruitiness. This is a classic Forman Chardonnay. It’s a baby now and has so many years to develop, too bad there is so little produced. Alcohol 13.9%. 1,043 cases produced."

90 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "[$35 list] If never wanting for ripeness and long on heady, young, varietal fruit, this solid effort plays juicy apples and a streak of caramelly oak against plenty of freshening, mildly citrusy acidity. It is fairly full-bodied and starts out on a rounded, almost oily note, but it never gives in to softness, and, while a very attractive wine at the moment, it has a sense of reserve that bodes well for a few years of keeping. (Feb 2013)"
