94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Abeja’s Chardonnays are as certain to hit their target as a Kobe Bryant slam dunk, and the style remains consistent vintage after vintage. Spicy, nutty, based around stone fruits and melon, they do not shy away from the toasty flavors that derive from barrel fermentation in 40% new French oak. The underlying minerality and well-balanced acidity mark this as Washington fruit, most of it from the outstanding Conner Lee vineyard. Alcohol 14.1%. 690 cases produced. (Apr 2012)"
91 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright straw-yellow. Aromas of apricot, peach, citrus peel, wild herbs, spearmint, butterscotch and lees, with a floral lift that reminded me of viognier. A fresh, lively midweight with stone fruit flavors complemented by vanillin, toasty oak. There's a savory sake-like quality and an umami texture at work here that go nicely with the wine's restrained sweetness. Finishes smooth and long, with noteworthy concentration. (Oct/Nov 2011)"
91 points Wine Spectator: "Refined, elegant and tightly wound, with a good tension as the pear and spice flavors play against earthy and minerally nuances on the finish. Drink now through 2014. 690 cases made. (5/31/12)"
Producer notes: "This vintage of Chardonnay offers the elegant, balanced style for which our Chardonnay is known. Pears, star fruit, kiwi, and vanilla combine with moderate, integrated oak flavors, beautiful complexity, and pleasant acidity. Production of this wine is just half of our usual case quantity. Vineyard sources: Mill Creek Vineyard & Conner Lee Vineyard. 100% French oak (40% new, 60% one-year-old). 100% barrel fermentation. 100% malolactic fermentation."

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$35 list] Antica’s 2011 Chardonnay is laced with lemon peel, white flowers, spices and crushed rocks. In this vintage, the estate’s Chardonnay is especially rich and powerful, largely because the irregular flowering lowered yields by 50%. This is an unusual Chardonnay that is bright in its aromas and flavors but fairly broad-shouldered in style. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "The 2011 Napa Valley Chardonnay has richness, yet remains elegant and delicate. There are generous flavors of pear, melon, and nectarine that are pure, focused and lingering on the palate. The finish on the wine is complex, adding to the wine's persistence and freshness."

'Highly Recommended' and 92 points Wine Spectator: "[$37 list] Delivers tiers of fig, smoke, honeydew and honeysuckle that are pure, intense and graceful. An excellent Beringer PR, a shade off the riper versions, but notably sleek, rich and layered. Drink now through 2019. (6/15/12)"
92 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light golden yellow; attractive, buttery, baked apple aroma that developed with airing; medium-full to full body; forward, fleshy, firmly structured, apple and honeydew melon flavors with undertones of creamy oak and supported by bright acidity; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended. 14% alcohol... 100% barrel fermented; 100% malolactic fermentation; released February 2012. (Aug 2012)"
90 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(65% new oak; mostly from Gamble Ranch fruit): Good bright yellow. Deep aromas of apricot, pineapple, menthol and vanillin oak. Rich and creamy but with good acidity to frame the stone fruit flavors. Much more complex than the basic Napa Valley chardonnay but youthfully tight now and just starting to open. An elegant style in the context of this label. (May 2012)"

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Light gold. Musky, spice-accented aromas of pear, melon and honeysuckle, with a strong note of toasty lees. Smoky and broad but vibrant, with impressive depth to its orchard and citrus fruit flavors. Spicy and precise on the impressively long finish, which strongly echoes the smoke and floral notes. (Oct/Nov 2011)"
91 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Chardonnay is gorgeous. Juicy apricots, pears, flowers and a hint of spices are woven together in this beautifully layered Chardonnay. Brewer-Clifton’s 2010 Chardonnay is a great wine for the money and an equally fabulous introduction to the house style. The fruit sources are Mt. Carmel, Sweeney Canyon, 3-D, Gnesa and a touch of Zotovich. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. (Aug 2012)"
Producer notes: "With the goal of expressing a comprehensive expression of the appellation, we selected five unique vineyard sites to create this Sta. Rita Hills bottling. This blend is comprised of Mount Carmel, 3-D, Gnesa, Sea Smoke and Zotovich. While each lot is handled separately and in a completely uniform fashion in the winery, each contributes vastly different expressions which ultimately harmonize in the finished wine. Tasting notes: Rich aromas of lemon, kiwi, orange blossom and sweet basil are followed by a more precise flavor profile of jasmine, lime and ginger. Extremely taut, focused and dry palate impression."

Producer notes: "Our 2011 Napa Valley Chardonnay opens with fresh, creamy aromas of ripe pear, apple and citrus, with light butter, yeast and spicy oak tones adding complexity. The wine’s rich, focused, green apple, melon and guava flavors are nicely balanced by fresh acidity and a piquant mineral tone. Both mouthfilling and elegant, this quintessential Napa Valley Chardonnay is delectable now, but it will develop even greater complexity with another 5-8 years’ bottle age. Fermented in 90% French oak and 10% stainless steel. Barel aged 8 months in French oak (35% new). Alcohol 14.2%."

91 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "[$35 list] Long on deep and outgoing fruit and sporting a fine measure of sweet and sympathetic oak, Chappellet's latest is a wonderfully well-crafted effort whose keen varietal focus and impeccable balance earn it a spot near the head of the class. It is not a big or especially extracted wine, but it never wants for richness, and it is both concentrated and light on its feet. Its finish is long and layered, and, as tasty as it is now, it has plenty of potential to get better with age. (May 2013)"
90 points Anthony Dias Blue (The Tasting Panel): "[$35 list] Racy and crisp with bright acidity and nice citrus; long and balanced on the finish. (Apr 2013)"
'Highly Recommended,' California Grapevine: "Medium-light golden yellow; forward, buttery, baked apple aroma with spicy, lemony notes and a trace of charred oak; medium-full body; fairly rich, herbal, baked apple flavors with a hint of lemon zest and a slightly creamy mouthfeel; lingering aftertaste. 14.5% alcohol; 100% barrel fermented; 40% malolactic fermentation; released October 2012. (Apr 2013)"
'Good,' PinotFile: "[$35 list] 14.5% alc., pH 3.55, TA 0.64. From the Kelly Ranch, a cool site in the rolling hills above San Pablo Bay and the Poe and Red Hen vineyards, farmed by the Laird family. Dijon clones 95 and 96 and Robert young clone. Winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus, the winemaker at Chappellet for over twenty years. Pale straw color and clear in the glass. Oak-infused aromas of yellow peach, lemon, pastry cream and blond caramel. Tasty core of lemon cream, baked pear and toffee. Slightly creamy with complimentary oak in the background. (4/13/13)"
Producer notes: "[$35 list] Our Napa Valley Chardonnay is made using fruit grown on elite vineyards in some of the coolest regions of Napa Valley. The majority of the grapes come from Kelly Ranch, which overlooks the San Pablo Bay, where marine influences and shallow soils composed of clay and gravel create optimal growing conditions for Chardonnay. To add depth and complexity, the 2011 vintage also includes fruit from Poe Vineyard in Napa-Carneros and Red Hen Vineyard in Oak Knoll. This wine was aged on its lees for eight months in one-third new French oak barrels. For added texture and viscosity, a significant portion of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. Tasting notes: This wine offers a delicious combination of baked apple, pear and lemon zest aromas, as well as hints of hazelnut, baking spice and brioche. Additional layers of melted butter, brown sugar and beautiful spicy oak contribute to the complex Burgundian character of the nose. On the palate, this wine is fleshy and round, with enticing mineral, citrus, quince and pear flavors. Spice notes of clove, cardamom and toasted wood add an intriguing counterpoint to the fruit. All the elements seamlessly integrate, creating a rich, elegant mouthfeel that is toned by natural acidity and persists long on the finish."

93 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "(barrel-fermented in older barriques): Green-gold. High-pitched aromas of lime, lemongrass and chalky minerals. Bright, racy and precise, showing concentrated, strikingly vivid citrus fruit and floral flavors and a hint of iodine. Lingers with impressive tenacity, leaving mineral, spice and jasmine notes behind. Guthrie told me that this wine, which is sourced from limestone-rich soil, clocks in at a very low 3.18 pH. (May 2012)"
Producer notes: "Located in the Chalone appellation that made history in the 1976 Paris Tasting, Brosseau is Copain's most southern vineyard source. These old vines, reaping the benefits of the cool marine influence, are planted in a particularly rocky mixture of limestone and decomposed granite. Whole-cluster pressed into neutral oak barrels, the mature Wente clones produce one of the most mineral-driven Chardonnays in California. Tasting Notes: Another vibrant offering from the esteemed eponymous vineyard in the heart of the Chalone appellation, the 2011 Brosseau Chardonnay shines with bright, opulent fruit and cru Chablis character. Its supple, round texture and assertive acidity further enhance its classic charm. Alcohol 13.4%."

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Chardonnay offers nothing but deliciousness, and doesn’t apologize for any lack of subtlety. It’s as rich as a dessert pastry, with pineapple and orange pie, buttered croissant and vanilla flavors. Brisk acidity makes it all shiny and bright. It’s arguably one of the best Napa Valley Chardonnays out there. (Jul 2012)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Weaves together a subtle mix of fresh apple, honeydew melon, peach, nectarine, spice and cedar flavors. Well-balanced, clean and easy-drinking. Drink now through 2018. 398 cases made. (6/30/12)"
Producer notes: "The D. R. Stephens Estate 2010 Chardonnay hails from the cool climates in the far southern reaches of the Napa Valley. The vines here struggle to ripen in the cool marine air, and produce Chardonnays with a vibrant, complex personality. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and then barrel-fermented in 50% new French Oak and aged sur lie for 12 months with bi-weekly battonage. The wine was then transferred to stainless steel for an additional 4 months. It went through 100% malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aromas of lemon curd, marzipan, flint, white pepper and jasmine rise from the glass. The palate is smooth and supple, with richness from lees stirring but with ample acidity to balance the fruit. The finish hints at Burgundy, but ultimately sways back to California with its ebullient character and sunny disposition. Barrel aged in 100% French oak (50% new) and aged sur lie for 12 months with bi-weekly battonage. "

Producer notes: "As with the prior vintage, 2011 Signature Chardonnay was shaped by a cool, slow-ripening season and displays intricate aromatics and rich, persistent flavors. A tempting bouquet mingles lemon blossom and jasmine with citrus, then unfolds intriguing notes of nutmeg and quince. Generous flavors of lemon custard, pears and apples are wrapped in a creamy mouthfeel, while a streak of stony minerality gives the wine zest and complexity. The oak is exceptionally well-integrated, offering spicy qualities that linger on the finish. Barrel aged 11 months in French oak (70% new). 1,950 cases produced."

90 points Robert Parker: "The 2009 Chardonnay Clos Pepe (14.7%) has very short acids, which kept my score from going higher. It is a more medium-bodied wine, with notes of orange zest, quince, white currant, straw, and wet stones. The acid levels are ferocious, and while the wine is fresh and focused, you have to be a real acid freak to enjoy this. At any rate, there is not much of this wine, since it comes from a one-acre parcel, compared to the three-acre parcel of the Prum Canyon. (Aug 2010)"
Producer notes: "The one acre parcel from which this wine is conceived is a steep, wind exposed north facing slope planted in a sandy loam soil by the Pepe and Hagen families. Aromas of lime leaf and mineral followed by flavors of pineapple skin and pink grapefruit. Clean, focused and cleansing on the palate with tremendous persistence."

Producer notes: "Like 2010, the 2011 vintage is very good for Chardonnay. The cool growing year and later harvest gave us excellent flavors and acidity. On the nose, there are beautiful white flowers, some citric fruits, and the sense of minerality that I love. Arthur can be enjoyed now, but will develop nicely for the next several years."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 92 points by both Wine & Spirits and Wine Enthusiast, which wrote: "Rich, toasty and ripe, this seduces from first sniff to last sip. The balance of fruit and barrel influence is spot on, crafting an elegant yet powerful Chardonnay with flavors of melon, tree fruit, and baking spice. Alcohol 13.9%."

90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Chardonnay is striking. Lemon, pastry, white flowers and nectarine all meld together gracefully in this gorgeous, totally beautiful wine. All the elements are in the right place. Sweet floral notes and a hint of peach linger on the finish. In 2011, 30% of the fruit was fermented and aged in concrete eggs, an approach that worked very nicely, to say the least. This is a totally classy introductory level Chardonnay from Failla. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. (Apr 2013)"
Producer notes: "This is the second vintage in which 20% of our young-vine Chardonnay blend was fermented and aged in concrete egg vessels. The remainder fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak, only 15% new and barely perceptible in the finished wine's flinty nose balanced with citrusy scents of grapefruit and lime filled out with a hint of jasmine and oyster-shell. The textural contributions of the concrete-fermented lots nicely balance the wine's vibrant mouth-watering acidity."

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Long-time readers of this magazine will not be surprised that I love this wine. When it comes to chardonnay, Flowers's Sonoma Coast bottling consistently delivers a fresh, fragrant, silken, mouthwatering wine. The freshness in the 2009 tastes real, the tension of the acidity captures the briskness of the far coast (70 percent of the blend in this vintage). The texture and flavor are woven together into a soft cushion of white raspberry, tart lime, white flowers, silk and down. Designed to drink rather than to impress, there's nothing challenging about it. (Oct 2011)"
Producer notes: "Light straw color. Attractive and delicate aromas of white flowers, tangerine and coconut are evident before opening up to green apples and crisp Anjou pear. Citrus and stone-fruit flavors develop on the palate with the characteristic lemon backbone of the Sonoma Coast. Medium bodied with a crisp and bright acidity the wine finishes with a distinctive coastal minerality. Delicious now or cellar through 2014. Cellared in 100% French oak (18% new) for 9 months. 92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast), from a blend of six sites, is an unusual wine because of an exotic aromatic lift that recalls Sauvignon. Apricots, peaches, lemon, mint and savory herbs wrap around the textured, broad-shouldered finish. A vivid, striking wine, the 2010 is loaded with personality. This is an uncommonly delicious and compelling Sonoma Coast Chardonnay with more than enough structure to drink nicely for a number of years. The partially-blocked malo style adds freshness. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. (Apr 2013)"
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rich and oaky, this has apricot, orange, vanilla and buttered toast flavors, with crisp acidity providing balance. It takes the popular Chardonnay style to an upper level in terms of the balance and the fanciness of oak. Alcohol 13.7%. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "Pale straw color. Pretty aromas of lime blossom, meringue and lemon zest are mirrored on the palate and underscored with subtle notes of fresh cut fennel, lemon thyme, and crisp comice pear. With a bright and refreshing acidity, this Chardonnay finishes with a mouthwatering minerality that is typical of the extreme Sonoma Coast. Delicious now, or cellar through 2014. Aged 8 months in 20% new and 7% two to three-year old French oak barrels. · Light yellow in color and slightly cloudy. Uplifting aromas of lemon curd, pomelo and baked apple. Producer notes: "100% Sonoma Coast Chardonnay sourced from the Dutton Ranch Mill Station Vineyard (67%) and the Freestone estate vineyards (33%). Barrel aged 8 months in French oak (30% new and 70% two- to three-year-old). This wine has a very expressive floral bouquet with notes of baking spices, wet stone and toasted vanilla bean. 92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate: "Forman’s 2011 Chardonnay is very pretty. Lemon, pastry, white flowers and spices come together nicely as this vivid wine shows off its considerable personality. The 2011 still needs time to fully harmonize in bottle. Today, it lacks some of the energy of the 2010, but nevertheless stands out for its textural purity and class. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "I love the fresh fruit opening without over-ripeness or obvious woodiness of this wine; it’s just nicely ripe Chardonnay. Sur lees aging in older barrels gives it a touch of richness and complexity to the aromas. One also has to love the flavors. Very zesty freshness beautifully frames the fruitiness. This is a classic Forman Chardonnay. It’s a baby now and has so many years to develop, too bad there is so little produced. Alcohol 13.9%. 1,043 cases produced."

90 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "[$35 list] If never wanting for ripeness and long on heady, young, varietal fruit, this solid effort plays juicy apples and a streak of caramelly oak against plenty of freshening, mildly citrusy acidity. It is fairly full-bodied and starts out on a rounded, almost oily note, but it never gives in to softness, and, while a very attractive wine at the moment, it has a sense of reserve that bodes well for a few years of keeping. (Feb 2013)"
90 points Anthony Dias Blue (The Tasting Panel): "[$35 list] Smoth and creamy with lush vanilla and ripe fruit; elegant and rich with lovely falvors and balance; deep and long, very lovely. (Jan 2013)"
Producer notes: "[$34.75 list] The 2011 Frank Family Vineyards Chardonnay is pale yellow in color and delivers aromas of apricot, apple and pineapple, laced with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and hazelnut. Its intense themes of apples and stones are enriched by deftly placed accents of vanilla and cream, and, like its mate, it is a serious, age-worthy Chardonnay that will surely reward a few years of patience. (Jan 2012)"
92 points The Tasting Panel: "[$55 list] Lemon custard aromas ooze, followed by appetizing wafts of meringue. Zingy juiced lime hits the palate with a start, cushioned by a buoyant, rounded texture. Sweet basil and chamomile form a zen finish. Ommmmm. (Jan/Feb 2012)"

Producer notes: "This wine is a mix of the best selections from the estate plantings, including some heirloom selections that define its character and structure. The nose reveals aromas of toasted brioche, apricot pits, lemon oil, shaved almonds, flower petals and chamomile infused with honey. There is great concentration, weight and intensity in this Chardonnay with vibrant, focused flavors of honeysuckle, quince, orange blossom and a touch of apple skins to tempt the palate. This wine is full-bodied, has great length and possesses a tangy, citrus finish with tremendous precision and minerality."

Producer notes: "This 2008 Russian River Chardonnay shows a lemon-gold color with medium intensity and bright clarity in appearance. The developing nose has medium plus intensity and shows ripe apple, pear, acacia blossom, lemon, toast, popcorn and vanilla. The palate is dry with medium plus acidity, body, flavor intensity and length, showing additional notes of citrus peel and butterscotch. The wine’s lively acidity and supple viscosity will lend itself to many seafood and poultry dishes, as well as aged Gouda cheeses. Alcohol 14.2%."
2007 vintage rated 94 points by Wine Enthusiast: "Brilliantly crisp and lushly creamy and honeyed, just a beautiful Chardonnay that offers decadence and sheer deliciousness. Massive in grilled pineapples, green apples, ripe nectarines and butterscotch, brightened with mouthwatering acidity. A joy to drink. An Editors' Choice."

90 points San Francisco Chronicle: " I love a Chardonnay with a mouthwatering, refreshing tang, and this one has it. A blend of grapes grown in four Russian River Valley vineyards -- including the famous Rochioli Allen Vineyard -- it has vibrant citrus and white peach flavors, hints of lemon oil and toasted hazelnut, and a brisk finish. Aging in mostly older French oak barrels lends the wine mouth-filling texture, yet without oaky aromas and flavors. (1/29/13)"
90 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$35 list] A big, strong Chardonnay, powerfully extracted with pineapple and orange jam flavors, with lots of zingy acidity that makes the mouth water. There’s a touch of buttered toast from oak. A little brittle and hard now, so give it two to three years in the bottle to soften and mellow. 2,752 cases produced. Alcohol 14.2%. (Jun 2013)"
90 points Anthony Dias Blue (The Tasting Panel): "[$35 list] Elegant, juicy and rich with lovely fruit and bright acidity; balanced, long and fresh. (Apr 2013)"
Producer notes: "This light straw-colored wine has tremendous concentration, structure and verve -- with steely precision and a superb lemony persistence. Intriguing aromas of white flower petal, lime zest and graphite excite the senses even before the first sip. Incredibly balanced, this Chardonnay delivers flavors of lemon oil, white peach, pear and roasted hazelnut that weave together on the palate, creating a seductive texture and mouthcoating finish.

PinotFile: "[$28 list] An entry level wine sourced from several estate and non-estate vineyards. Many of vineyards are 15 to 20 years old. Inaugural vintage for this bottling. Very light straw color in the glass. Fresh aromas of green apples and spice. Light on the palate with appealing flavors of baked apple and roasted nuts. An easy drinker and great value. Good. (4/3/12)"
Leads with aromas of honeysuckle, orange blossom and faint notes of lemon meringue pie. Flavors in the mouth include apple, baked pear, lemon drop candy and crystallized ginger which drives the wine’s long finish.
