95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Eloge bursts from the glass with juicy dark cherries, flowers, mint, tobacco, licorice and earthiness. I especially like the immediacy of the fruit here. There is pure plushness and juiciness in the 2009 that is impossible not to love. Black cherries, tobacco, smoke and graphite all wrap around the intense, juicy finish. This is a terrific showing from Todd Anderson and his team. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot. Èloge (meaning praise worthy in French) is a true "Left Bank" style Bordeaux blend in the mold of the wines from Pauillac. The 2009 offers up glorious aromas of cedar or cigar box wood notes, a creme de cassis core of concentrated dark fruits, yet streaks of red currents in the mid-palate, violets, spice and toast from the oak. The compelling aromas are followed by the palate with power and finesse. This polished, yet powerful wine promises to provide thrilling consumption for 30+ years. Alcohol 14.8%."

Using intense fruit from the low-yielding hillsides of Stags Leap, Angeline's team crafts quintessential hillside Napa Cabernet. Big, dark, dense fruit flavors are pure and bold on the palate but have a certain poise and agility supported by the bright acid and moderate tannins. There is plenty of ripeness here but it spares you from being overly jammy. The layers of fruit are accompanied by layers of spices, cigar box, chocolate and just the right touch of toasty oak. The well-balanced, complex and robust structure means you can drink this now free of any guilt. However, cellaring will be rewarded for those who have the patience. But who does?
Not yet reviewed; 2008 vintage rated 91 points and 'Editors' Choice' by Wine Enthusiast: "What a nice Cab! It’s so softly intricate, so complex, so dry and interesting, you just want to drink the whole bottle now with anything related to beef. Shows blackberry, black currant and oak flavors, with a fine balance of acids and tannins, and is ready to drink now."

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$55 list] The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon comes across as a bit more reticent and inward next to the superb 2008, but it, too, is a gorgeous wine. Dark red fruit, licorice, smoke and tar are some of the nuances that flow from this layered, gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2009 was bottled just two months ago. It will almost certainly be even better in a few years’ time. A mid-weight, gracious wine, the 2009 should drink well to age 20 or so. In 2009 the blend includes 1.5% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (Dec 2011)"
90 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright red-ruby. Tight nose hints at cassis and licorice. Intensely flavored and high-pitched, with strong acidity and floral lift to the youthfully medicinal flavors. Densely packed, energetic wine but clenched today. Finishes with firm tannins and a lightly herbal quality. Antica is short for Antinori California. (May 2012)"
90 points Wine & Spirits: "[$55 list] This wine’s Atlas Peak tannins are softer and gentler than you might expect, its structure benefiting from the acidity of the fruit. That comes across in green herb scents refreshing the plush, ripe plum flavors. It’s generous and open, easy to enjoy with roast lamb. (Oct 2012)"

A rich, voluptuous wine, the 2009 is all raciness and flashiness. All of the elements are in the right place. This gorgeous wine captures the exuberance of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in spades. *SPECIAL: Take 10% Off Listed Price! (We'll reduce item's price when processing your order.) 92+ points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, from vines planted on volcanic soils, is gorgeous. Fresh, perfumed aromatics meld into expressive dark red fruit in this silky, layered Cabernet Sauvignon. High-toned floral, spiced notes add lift on the long, persistent finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Dec 2011)"
Producer notes: "There is a purity and richness to this bottling I absolutely love. The deep red color is fantastic and is ever so inviting. This is the widest mélange of fruit and character in the profound Beau Vigne lineup. This wine lives up to its position of a Reserve. The nose begins as brooding of black fruit but shortly builds to include lively mountain terroir. What is 'mountain terroir?' It is the racy and complex array of red fruit that shows itself in higher elevations. In support of the fruit is warmth from barrel vanillin, espresso ice cream and biscotti center. The notes of confection on the nose are amazing. The palate drinks of youth with absolute potential. Driven by dried herbs, forest and tobacco notes, black berry and black stone fruit surface right through to the front of the palate. The balance of this wine sits high. In its youth, it is nervy and complex with a huge future ahead. The tannins of this mountain based cabernet could use a decade to yield. The day that time comes, there will be bliss. But for those who consume this wine at a young age, you will definitely not be disappointed. Cellared well, this wine should survive and drink well into its late teens or even twenties (+2028). 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 260 cases produced." - Kirk Venge, winemaker

Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good deep red. Cool nose and palate dominated by eucalyptus, mint and licorice. Nicely delineated and fine-grained, but the pronounced mintiness currently overshadows the wine's rather delicate fruit. Finishes with slightly drying tannins. This distinctive wine always has a eucalyptus component... (May 2012)"
Owned by Chotsie and Alan Blank, grafted onto the Grace Family clone, managed by Jim Barbour and made at Grace Family by Gary Brookman, this special project shows how terroir affects a finished product. The wine displays Rutherford characteristics of sour cherry in association with the unique characteristics of this 1.8 acre plot of land. Above all, the wine exhibits the ‘hallmark’ of the Grace Family Clone: balance and complexity.

91 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Prince of Hearts Paradise Hills Vineyard jumps from the glass with an immediacy and juiciness that is impossible not to love. The extroverted, racy fruit is perfectly suited for an entry-level bottling. Raspberry jam, flowers, tobacco and sweet spices wrap around the palate as this flashy wine shows off its pedigree. The French oak is just a bit dominant, but that is a relatively small critique for a wine that delivers so much sheer pleasure at this price point. The 2009 is 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. (Dec 2012)"

Producer notes: "Owner/Winemaker Matt Bonanno works closely with several vineyard managers throughout the Napa Valley to ensure the quality of his fruit and maximize the potential for each vintage. A deep ruby red, this seductive Cab shows classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of spice and sage followed by a mix of blueberries and blackberries with fresh raspberry notes. With a nice balance of acid and well integrated tannins, this wine is smooth, supple and sleek in the mouth: it is well balanced across the palate showcasing flavors of dark fruit, currants and hints of mineral and anise. 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol 13.9%."
Not yet reviewed; 2008 vintage rated 'Best Buy' by Connoisseurs' Guide: "It may not be the deepest or the most complex Cabernet to be had, but this very amicable wine is juicy and fruity and enriched by a nice bit of sweet oak. While it is lightly tannic, it is also a touch rounded at the edges, and no more than a couple of years in the cellar should do the trick. Its price is right in today's market."

98 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The estate’s 2009 Bettina offers up sweet red berries, freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and crushed rocks. The 2009 Bettina stands out for its bright, high-toned aromas and flavors, as well as its intense, saline minerality. Everything about the 2009 is in the right place. This is a flat-out great bottle of wine. In a word: Fabulous. Wow! Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. (Dec 2012)"
95 points Wine Spectator: "Shares the plush texture and savory herb, spice and lavender notes of the Cabernet, presented in a tight mix of dried currant, mineral, crushed rock and tobacco flavors. Half Cabernet, half other Bordeaux varietals. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2013 through 2026. 800 cases made. (8/15/12)"
93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(bottled in August 2011; 55.6% cabernet sauvignon, 23.8% cabernet franc, 16.9% merlot and 3.7% petit verdot): Good deep red. Fresh aromas of redcurrant, violet, minerals, licorice, menthol and forest floor; more floral than the flagship cabernet. Rich and sweet in the mouth, with terrific blue and black berry intensity. Not quite as suave as the flagship bottling but vibrant and very long; the tannins are chewy and broad but a bit less polished. Still youthfully tight. (May 2012)"
Producer notes: "The Bettina Bryant Proprietary Red Wine is a gorgeous blend of Bordeaux varietals sourced from three of David Abreu’s own exceptional estate vineyards -- Madrona, Thorevilos, and Lucia Howell Mountain. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, and made with the same attention to detail as Bryant, this wine is beautifully layered and complex."

97 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "Bryant’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is totally gorgeous. Mocha, plums, espresso, rosemary and plums are some of the many notes that burst from the glass in this rich, powerful, totally seductive wine. The 2009 impresses for its sensual personality and sheer class. An impeccable sense of refinement and polish rounds out this huge, glorious Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a wine of extraordinary elegance. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. (Dec 2012)"
96 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "Rich and smooth in tannins, with some sharpness through the finish, this shows masses of ripe blackberries and dark chocolate. A bit of time in the glass reprises and accentuates the chocolaty richness. Despite its power, this is refined and high toned, a serious cellar candidate. Give it 10-15 years. (Oct 2012)"
95 points Wine Spectator: "A real beauty, exhibiting riveting aromatics that touch a range of dark berry, green olive and herb flavors, with cedar, mocha and espresso notes. Yet for all the size and density of this Cabernet, the tannins are fine and silky. Best from 2014 through 2030. 965 cases made. (8/15/12)"
94 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Dark ruby-red. High-pitched, slightly exotic aromas of brambly berries, minerals and jasmine tea. Sweet, dense and suave on entry, then extremely primary in the middle, with firm acidity giving shape to the wine's generous, seamless texture. Very aromatic but very young. One senses plenty of extraction here but the texture is quite smooth and the tannins polished. Finishes with lovely aromatic persistence. (May 2012)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a big, rich, seamless wine endowed with gorgeous depth and plushness. Dark red fruit, licorice, spices and menthol are some of the notes that take shape in the glass in this big, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon. A rich, textured finish rounds things out in style. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Dec 2011)"
93 points Wine Spectator: "Balances power with finesse, offering intense blackberry, dusty rock, cedar, black licorice and dried herb flavors. Gains depth and nuance, with tannins providing traction and definition. Best from 2013 through 2024. (11/14/12)"
Producer notes: "Aromas of graphite, black cherry, chocolate and soy are followed by flavors on the palette of black cherry, cardamom, dark chocolate, and espresso. The wonderful freshness on the finish is the result of an elevated acidity which compliments the deep, round tannins; culminating with a light dusting on the finish. Only 33 barrels were selected for our 2009 Estate offering."

The first sip of the wine reveals a big, boldly structured Cabernet with deeply concentrated black fruit flavors and intriguing dusty, loamy and mineral-y tones that add wonderful dimension and complexity. 90 points California Grapevine: "Medium-dark ruby; attractive, forward, relatively herbal, dark cherry and dark berry fruit aroma with hints of green olive and cocoa; full body; big, rich, textured, cedary, cassis and dark fruit flavors with a pleasing mouthfeel; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Very approachable now with precocious rich fruit and well controlled tannin. Very highly recommended. 15.1% alcohol; 2,000 cases; blended with 6% Cabernet Franc; released October 2012. (Jan 2013)"
Producer notes: "The nose of our 2009 Dancing Bear Cabernet offers the pure, high-toned, deeply concentrated aromas we have come to associate with this wine: ripe dark cherry, boysenberry, blackberry and plum fruit complemented by subtle earth, floral spice, forest floor and cocoa tones. In the mouth, the wine is rich, deep and juicy with mouthfilling dark cherry, boysenberry, cassis, plum and cedar flavors that take on a pronounced brambly spice tone in the remarkably long, savory finish. While this vintage of Dancing Bear is precociously forward in its youth, its superb structure and deep, expansive fruit suggest it will develop beautifully in bottle for at least a decade. 95 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "[$135 list] If years away from showing anything remotely like elegance and most definitely not a wine that will win the hearts of those whose prize restraint above all else, this deep, fully realized youngster combines richness with lavish, blackcurrant fruit that marks Napa Valley Cabernet at its best. Big and bold and very full on the palate with plenty of gritty young tannins, it is a generous and wonderfully well-focused wine of enormous potential. It demands a half-decade of age at the least, and it will be in fine form some twenty years from now. (Aug 2012)"
94 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$135 list] Dark and saturated in color, this has earthy and meaty aromas like bloody, rare steak and charred bone--that sort of proteinous spirit. The actual fruit flavor is incredibly rich and concentrated in blackberries, black currants and crisp bacon. The impression is of a sweet, delicious Cabernet that’s a touch warm in alcohol, but lush and refined. (Oct 2012)"
92 points California Grapevine: "[$135 list] Medium-dark purplish ruby; attractive, initially restrained, cedary, dark cherry and blackberry cobbler aroma with spicy notes and hints of graphite and pepper; full body; big, rich, extracted, dark berry fruit flavors with hints of espresso and dark chocolate, and overtones of toasty oak; full tannin; rough and a bit drying on the finish; lingering aftertaste. Opened and developed with airing, though needing another three to five more years of bottle aging to round out some of the rough edges. Very highly recommended. 15.1% alcohol; 2,434 cases; blended with 15% Petit Verdot and 10% Malbec; released April 2012. (Nov 2012)"
Producer notes: "75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 10% Malbec. With a remarkable level of concentration and complexity, and a sense of place that speaks volumes about our vineyards, this wine represents the very best from an exceptional vintage on Pritchard Hill. From its dark, incredibly saturated color to its intense aromas of baked blackberry, dark cherry, crème de cassis, plum and anise this wine is layered, rich and sophisticated. On the palate, notes of espresso, dark chocolate and toasted oak, support beautiful ripe fruit and spice flavors, with seamless, mouthcoating tannins adding power and longevity. Despite its epic nature, there is also a liveliness and radiance to this wine that gives it poise, precision and balance. Alcohol 15.1%."

91 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District shows off considerable focus and depth, not to mention terrific overall balance. Dark plums, cherries, spices, licorice and cassis are some of the notes that flow from this long, pure wine. Today the tannins are a bit compact, but bottle age should help to some degree. The 2009 is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Dec 2011)"
Producer notes: "Intense blackberry liqueur and espresso bean develop into rose and truffle oil aromas as the wine opens. Creamy and opulent, flavors of semi-sweet chocolate, mocha, and plum layer the front and mid-palate. A beam of fresh minerality (archetypal Stags Leap District character) frames the long silky finish. Decanting is recommended. Revisit over 24 hours as new layers develop with time. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, 1% merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol 14.9%."

96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "Dalla Valle’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with the most exquisite bouquet imaginable. A picture perfect example of the vintage, the Cabernet Sauvignon is endowed with expressive, silky fruit and fabulous overall balance. Bright red berries, savory herbs, espresso, cedar, mint and sweet spices all flow through to the finish. I very much like the tension and energy in the glass. Next to the 2010, the 2009 is more floral and red-toned, but those attributes might change as the wine develops in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. (Dec 2012)"
94 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh, intense and vibrant, rich and chewy, offering a dense core of mineral, currant, blackberry and spice, with touches of road tar and cedar. Tightens on the finish, where the tannins weigh in, yet this is still long and persistent. Best from 2014 through 2028. 500 cases made. (10/15/12)"
93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(blended with 20% cabernet franc): Red-ruby. Scented nose offers redcurrant, iron and loam. Sweet, fine-grained and energetic, showing lovely juicy definition to its flavors of red berries, spices, licorice and graphite. Superb, varietally precise cabernet with firm tannic spine and excellent persistence. And more accessible today than the Maya. (May 2012)"

97 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "An exotic melange of black cherries, plums, mocha, espresso and cloves takes shape in the 2009 Maya. A huge, introspective wine, the 2009 Maya will require years in bottle before the fruit begins to emerge, but is singular and promising to the core. Even with all of its pure depth, there is plenty of underlying tannin and sheer structure lurking beneath. Hints of graphite and crushed rocks emerge on the finish, but today the Maya is tightly wound and implosive. The pure energy of the finish is beguiling. The 2009 is 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. (Dec 2012)"
95 points Wine Spectator: "A classy effort that delivers richness and density, with layers of dark berry fruit, spice, cedar, espresso and black licorice, firming with fine-grained tannins and a finish that offers elegance, finesse and structure. Best from 2013 through 2028. 500 cases made. (10/15/12)"
95 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(two-thirds cabernet sauvignon and one-third cabernet franc): Good bright, dark red-ruby. Cassis and powerful graphite minerality dominate the nose. Sappy, strong and deep, with terrific intensity and a very firm spine to the flavors of dark berries, crushed rock, cocoa powder and spices. Dense, large-scaled and mouthfilling yet light on its feet. This impressive wine's serious tannins call for extended aging. (May 2012)"

91 points Wine Spectator: "Offers a mix of melted black licorice, currant, dark berry, spice and savory herb notes that are firm, structured and rich without being weighty. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2021. 1,500 cases made. (6/15/12)"
91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a thick, young blend that’s based on Merlot. It’s brooding in tannins, offering deep, impressive layers of blackberry purée, dark chocolate and bacon. This is really delicious now with big, rich fare, like short ribs, and it should be good over the next six years. 15.1% alcohol. (Aug 2012)"
90 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "This deep and very generously filled offering leads with rich, sweetly oaked aromas of cherries, cassis, vanilla and crème caramel, and its like-minded flavors do not miss a step. Its ample tannins provided a very solid structural frame, and it is never less than wholly filled from beginning to end. Its richness might compel drinking now, but it has a bit of back-end coarseness to lose, and the smart money says to set it aside for another five years. (Mar 2013)"
Producer notes: "27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 59% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc. Barrel aged for 20 months in 60% new French oak. The 2009 vintage was a long, mild growing season which delivered fruit with bright acidity, relatively low potential alcohol, dark color, and expressive aromatics. As the year was relatively cool for Napa Valley standards, Merlot performed particularly well. For the 2009 Mad Hatter, we blended fruit from our estate with grapes from other valued sources in the Napa Valley, to create a wine that is soft, rich and generous. Cabernet Sauvignon adds a regal, classic quality to the wine, while smaller percentages of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot provide a depth and aromatic complexity that makes the wine even more compelling. After a short decanting, the wine comes alive, with deep, ripe notes of blackberry, black tea, and forest floor. On the palate, a solid tannic framework supports the rich fruit flavors, accompanied by subtle notes of gravel and minerals. This wine will easily age for a decade or more, but should probably be consumed now, in its youth, to enjoy all of the bright, fresh fruit character it shows now."
