91 points Wine Spectator: "[$95 list] Dense, herbal and smoky, offering deep, concentrated road tar, melted black licorice, gravel and dried berry flavors. Folds in savory herb notes and ends with chewy tannins. Drink now through 2022. 1,557 cases made. (11/15/12)"
Producer notes: "This full-bodied wine has a seamless structure, and boasts a delicate balance from beginning to end. Bold and expressive, with fat, full tanins that are at once refined, silky, and subtle. Blended from the rockiest, most well-drained parcels of the estate vineyard, this '1886' is a classic, ageworthy Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Filling out the layers of earthy complexity and spice are flavors of violets, chocolate cherries, cinnamon and cocoa. A beautiful expression of our esteemed terroir. 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot. 1,557 cases prduced. Alcohol 14.5%. 100% CCOF certified organic. 100% Demeter certified biodynamic."

94 points Wine Spectator: "[$200 list] Dense and firm, this gutsy red shows a nice flex behind the tannins, with rich flavors of dark berry, dark chocolate, cedar and melted black licorice. The signature minty trait presents itself for now as a bay leaf and black tea aroma. Drink now through 2028. 1,330 cases made. (6/15/12)"
94 points California Grapevine: "[$200 list] Medium-dark ruby color; very attractive, forward, intense, complex, cassis and dark berry fruit aroma with hints of mint, eucalyptus, cedar, dried herbs, and graphite; full body; initially a bit soft and fleshy with intense, elegant, herbal, cedary, current and dark berry fruit flavors that tend to tighten a bit on the finish; medium-full to full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Well balanced and structured for bottle aging, though also very enjoyable to taste now. Very highly recommended. 14.5% alcohol; 1,331 cases; 100% Cabernet Sauvignon; released February 2012. (May 2012)"
Producer notes: "[$200 list] The 2007 Martha’s is a luscious cabernet with an enticing aroma of mint, plum and summer blueberries. Full-bodied with layers of complexity, this wine is beautifully balanced allowing all the pure, elegant flavors to be appreciated and enjoyed. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Oak aging: 3-1/2 years. Certified Organic. Alcohol 14.5%."

94 points Wine Spectator: "Elegantly framed, with rich, appealing herb, currant, chocolate and black cherry flavor that's complex and concentrated, finishing with firm, well-integrated tannins... (10/31/00)"
93 points Robert Parker: "The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon is a model of symmetry and grace deftly married with super concentrated blueberry, blackberry, and cassis flavors infused with subtle new wood. This medium to full-bodied, seamless, youthful beauty will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades. (Dec 2000)"
93 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "There is drama aplenty in this deep, complex, sturdy wine. As it reaches into its tenth year, its blatant fruit is fading but its underlying solidity is going to keep it going for years to come. It also shows faint hints of mushroom and cedar, and those aspects can be expected to grow over time. We would expect it to be very good condition for the next five to eight years, but it will need to be tracked during that period to see how it shapes up for the longer haul and to see if it lives up to its three-decade structure. (Apr 2007)"
Stephen Brook (The Finest Wines of California): "Dense but stylish, savory nose. Suave, concentrated, and delicious, with good acidity and excellent balance. Drinks well now but has ripe tannins and will evolve further. (2011)"

92 points Wine Spectator: "Firm, intense and spicy, with currant, blueberry, tobacco and cedar notes that are full-bodied, well-structured, balanced and concentrated. The tannins present a chewy aftertaste, yet the flavors flow through. The best of two bottles tasted. -1999 California Cabernet blind retrospective (2009). Drink now through 2016. (2009)"
92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(aging in about 60% new oak, up from 50% previously; this is the first vintage crushed and made at the estate) Full medium ruby. Rich yet cool aromas of blackberry, violet, licorice and bitter chocolate. Dense and rich, with sharply delineated flavors of dark berries, chocolate and cedar. Offers compelling vinosity, and the structure for slow development in bottle. Finishes with fine, dusty, horizontal tannins and excellent persistence. With this vintage, all of the replanted vines are included in the blend, with the exception of a bit of cabernet franc yet to come. (May/Jun 2002)"
Stephen Brook (The Finest Wines of California): "Dense, brambly nose, with some tobacco tones. Sweet and intense, with splendid fruit, drive, and precision, fine acidity, and a silky texture. Very complete and long. (2011)"
