95+ points Robert Parker: "[$400 list] The 2006 Howell Mountain has already gone into hiding, but there is no doubting its enormous weight, richness, note of graphite, and minerality. The wine possesses enormous concentration and richness as well as lots of blue and black fruits, but I wouldn’t touch it for 7-10 years. It should keep for 30 years. (Dec 2009)"

93 points Robert Parker: "The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Madrona Ranch (90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Merlot) exhibits a saturated purple color in addition to a gorgeous bouquet of espresso beans intermixed with licorice, incense, blueberries and blackberries. There is more tannin in the unusually austere finish, but the wine is remarkably complex, and should be exceptionally long-lived. There are 500 cases of this beauty, which should be at its finest between 2006-2025. (Aug 2002)"

Unlike Abreu’s biggest vintages, the 2000 is already delicious, and promises to evolve for 12-15 years. (Dec 2003)"

97 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2008 Madrona Ranch opens with an incredibly expressive bouquet. Espresso, mocha and licorice meld into dark red fruit and sweet exotic spices in this superb wine. The 2008 is an extraordinarily polished, refined wine for the vintage. Sweet spiced and floral notes reappear to round out the finish. The relatively high percentage of Cabernet Franc (37%) comes through in spades here. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2033. (Dec 2011)"
94 points Wine Spectator: "Ultrarich and gutsy, nuzzling up to syrupy, this is a chewy, extracted style that extends the flavors to kirsch, black licorice, blackberry jam, espresso, hazelnut and toffee. Ends with chewy, grainy tannins that give the flavors traction. Drink now through 2026. 350 cases made. (5/1/13)"

The compelling floweriness, blue and black fruits, and full-bodied richness make this one of the most distinctive and extraordinary wines of Napa. Strutting its stuff even more this year than it was last year, it should provide immense pleasure over the next 25+ years. (Dec 2009)"

91 points Wine Spectator: "Supple, fleshy, elegant and stylish, showing a layered mix of plum, black cherry and cranberry, with touches of spice and tobacco. Full-bodied and complex, gaining body and depth on the finish, where the flavors unfold to reveal touches of herb and mineral. Drink now through 2017. 75 cases made. (11/15/10)"
Producer notes: "Sleeping Lady Vineyard, which sits just south of Dominus in Yountville, rivals the best vineyard ground that exists in Napa Valley, and it consistently produces grapes with a unique purity and intensity of aroma, as well as a beautifully distinctive flavor. The wine exhibits an aromatic and flavor profile of crème de cassis, ultra-dark black cherry, and raspberry, and fine-grained tannins."

Producer notes: "'We like to produce a 100% Cabernet Franc to give people a chance to see what Cab Franc actually tastes like,' says Winemaker Kevin Hall. It tends to have a softer tannin profile than our Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2010 has flavors of plum, black cherry, vanilla, blueberry and cassis. This is not a heavy wine, but it does have broad mouthfeel and a long, juicy finish. Alcohol 14.0%. 1,520 cases produced."

Shows complex flavors of blackberries, cherries, black currants, cola, dark bitter chocolate, cedar and spices, with a pleasant minerality, and the finish is bone dry. Brisk tannins make it an ideal companion to roasted meats and hard cheeses. (12/31/10)"
Producer notes: "The 2008 shows an enticing nose of black cherry and cassis and hints of eucalpytus and cocoa. In the glass, this wine delivers much more than what one might expect for a Cab so modestly priced, revealing rich flavors of cherry, chocolate and plum enveloped by soft tannins."

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Beautifully balanced, this offers the perfect expression of Washington State brightness and a Bordeaux-like herbal component. The tannins are fine and drying, and the wine is polished, with plenty of astringent, herbal flavors in the finish. Don’t look for big fruit here, but for a Euro style, this is a sure bet. (Feb 2011)"
Producer notes: "76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 5% Syrah, 3% Cabernet Franc. Vineyards: 45% Seven Hills, 41% Pepper Bridge, 8% Les Collines, 6% Goff. Integrated aromas of dark fruits and mint layer beautifully with notes of gravel and cedar. Full and generous flavors of black cherries and plums complement hints of mineral and cocoa powder. Gentle tannins support a supple, powerful mouthfeel. 14.1% alcohol."

94 points Robert Parker: "Anakota, one of Jess Jackson’s flagship estates, is producing small quantities (about 500 cases of each wine) of outstanding Cabernets intended to showcase the potential of these vineyards on Mount St. Helena in Knight’s Valley. Both are 100% Cabernet Sauvignon planted at 700-900 foot elevations. The wines are aged 14 months in French oak. These impressive offerings establish Anakota as a worthy competitor to Peter Michael’s exceptional Les Pavots proprietary red. (Dec 2008)"
91 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "[$80 list] Good red-ruby. Musky aromas of currant, iron, leather and smoke. Lush, fat and nuanced, with noteworthy purity and depth to its flavors of black cherry, game, spices, mint and earth. Very full and round but not at all sweet or easy. Compared to the Helena Montana, this shows a tad less energy and finishes with more obvious though fine tannins. (May/Jun 2008)"
Producer notes: "The 2005 Helena Dakota Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine with a deep, dark red color. The nose presents notes of vanilla and oak. On the palate is an explosion of red fruits and minerality supported by a very round structure. The tannins are mature and present a long finish with hints of blonde tobacco. This wine can be decanted and enjoyed now, or it can be placed in your cellar. Before 2010, decant for full enjoyment. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 14 months in French oak (70% new). 14.8% alcohol."

92+ points Robert Parker: "The dense purple-colored 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana offers sweet aromas and flavors of charcoal/burning embers, blueberries, and black currants, a deep, full-bodied style, silky, but noticeable tannins, and a long, authoritative finish. The overall impression is one of serious substance as well as undeniable complexity and elegance. This 2005 should drink beautifully for 15-20+ years. From a site slightly lower on the slopes, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota sees a nearly identical upbringing, but it comes across as a richer wine. Its opaque purple color is followed by a stunning aromatic display of lead pencil shavings, espresso roast, chocolate, blackberries, and cassis. The wine is deep and full-bodied with sweet tannins, decent acidity, a harmonious mouthfeel, and a seamless integration of acidity, oak, tannin, and alcohol. This beauty can be drunk now or cellared for two decades. It is not surprising that Jess Jackson’s winemaker, Pierre Seillan (who is the force behind the brilliant Verite wines) is in charge at Anakota. (Dec 2008)"
92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good full ruby-red. Musky aromas of dark cherry, coffee, tobacco and loam. Sweet, lush and fine-grained, with lovely elegance and life to the flavors of cherry and coffee. Harmonious acidity really extends and lifts the fruit on the back end, which features very suave tannins and outstanding persistence. This goes a step beyond the very good 2004. Jess Jackson notes that this site, on volcanic ash soil, ripens a full two weeks earlier than the Helena Dakota, which is planted on soil rich in iron and clay. (May/Jun 2008)"
Producer notes: "[$80 list] The 2005 Helena Montana Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine with a very elegant and refined nose of black fruits. An initial impression on the palate of vanilla from well integrated oak. The architecture of this wine is well constructed, very spiced, with an extra long finish of minerality infused with soft delicate tannins, attributing to its long aging potential. Before 2010, decant for full enjoyment. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 14 months in French oak (70% new). 15.0% alcohol."

93-96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The estate’s 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is endowed with serious power and depth. Layers of blue and black fruit, smoke, tobacco and licorice are woven together beautifully. Vivid yet rich and resonant, the 2010 stands out for its exceptional purity and overall harmony. Here, too, the oak needs time to integrate, but tha shouldn’t be an issue, as readers should not plan on opening bottles anytime soon. A creamy, layered finish laced with expressive blue and black fruits rounds things out in style. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2032. (Dec 2012)"

Reasonably evolved, and extremely seductive aromatically, with a slightly structured finish, it can be enjoyed now and over the next 15 years. 95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Eloge bursts from the glass with juicy dark cherries, flowers, mint, tobacco, licorice and earthiness. I especially like the immediacy of the fruit here. There is pure plushness and juiciness in the 2009 that is impossible not to love. Black cherries, tobacco, smoke and graphite all wrap around the intense, juicy finish. This is a terrific showing from Todd Anderson and his team. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot. Èloge (meaning praise worthy in French) is a true "Left Bank" style Bordeaux blend in the mold of the wines from Pauillac. The 2009 offers up glorious aromas of cedar or cigar box wood notes, a creme de cassis core of concentrated dark fruits, yet streaks of red currents in the mid-palate, violets, spice and toast from the oak. The compelling aromas are followed by the palate with power and finesse. This polished, yet powerful wine promises to provide thrilling consumption for 30+ years. Alcohol 14.8%."

93 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "The Andrew Will 2009 Champoux -- which comprises 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot -- offers a terrific example of the combination of richness and textural polish with lift and energy that Washington State vineyards, and especially this one, can supply. Both blond and smoky Latakia tobaccos join black raspberry, purple plum and cassis, which are shadowed by their high-toned distilled essences. Hints of vanilla and nutmeg -- perhaps from barrel (ca. 40% new); or perhaps part and parcel of Champoux fruit -- are subtly complementary, while a saline savor grows in this beauty’s long finish, stimulating the salivary glands as well as the urge to take another sip. Expect this to excel for a decade. Camarda bottled his first Champoux vineyard designate from 1999, a pure Cabernet. Once fruit from the other cepages became available, he began bottling a blend of them all. (Dec 2012)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "Supple, elegant and gentle, unfurling its black currant, tar and floral flavors with grace, underlining them with refined tannins that allow the flavors to linger with delicacy. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2019. 642 cases made. (8/31/12)"
91 points Wine & Spirits: "A cabernet-based bland grounded by old-vine fruit from Block 1 at Champoux, this is normally the most structured and reticent wine in the Andrew Will portfolio; in this warm vintage, however, Sorella designed to show a little leg. Massively built and powerfully structured, it is a ripe wine that in the end is not about ripeness or about fruit, but rather about potential energy and leashed intensity, a wine that's destined to reward those who cellar it as it knocks the impatient back on their heels. (Oct 2012)"
Producer notes: "43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, 7% Petit Vedot. This wine has a full middle palate with layers of raspberry, black cherry, and plum with blueberry reflections. The wine is soft considering the percentage of cabernet and has good acidity that contributes to its freshness and structure. Alcohol 14.5%."

Using intense fruit from the low-yielding hillsides of Stags Leap, Angeline's team crafts quintessential hillside Napa Cabernet. Big, dark, dense fruit flavors are pure and bold on the palate but have a certain poise and agility supported by the bright acid and moderate tannins. There is plenty of ripeness here but it spares you from being overly jammy. The layers of fruit are accompanied by layers of spices, cigar box, chocolate and just the right touch of toasty oak. The well-balanced, complex and robust structure means you can drink this now free of any guilt. However, cellaring will be rewarded for those who have the patience. But who does?
Not yet reviewed; 2008 vintage rated 91 points and 'Editors' Choice' by Wine Enthusiast: "What a nice Cab! It’s so softly intricate, so complex, so dry and interesting, you just want to drink the whole bottle now with anything related to beef. Shows blackberry, black currant and oak flavors, with a fine balance of acids and tannins, and is ready to drink now."
