Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 94 points and 'Top 100 Wines of 2012 (#15)' by Wine Spectator: "Both rich and powerful, with a measure of finesse and restraint, commingling dark berry, boysenberry and huckleberry flavors, with spice, cedar, tobacco and licorice. Maintains its focus and persistence on the finish. A new Syrah from Alban, coming from a younger vineyard. Drink now through 2023. 1,200 cases made."

Producer notes: "The 2010 includes a small amount of Petite Sirah to broaden the mouthfeel on the wine and add a little more dark fruit to the palate. There are aromas of raspberry, plum, black cherry, and citrus. In the glass there are flavors of plum, cranberry, black cherry, and classic spicy black pepper. The 2010 is a restrained vintage and will reward those with the patience to cellar a few bottles. 98.5% Zinfandel, 1.5% Petite Sirah. Alcohol 14.7%."

91 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2008 Sangiovese shows plenty of varietal character in its expressive red cherries, licorice and tobacco but with Napa Valley warmth and shape. The wine’s volume and depth should allow it to drink beautifully for a number of years. This is an impressive California Sangiovese, something I can’t say too often. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Beautifully balanced, this offers the perfect expression of Washington State brightness and a Bordeaux-like herbal component. The tannins are fine and drying, and the wine is polished, with plenty of astringent, herbal flavors in the finish. Don’t look for big fruit here, but for a Euro style, this is a sure bet. (Feb 2011)"
Producer notes: "76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 5% Syrah, 3% Cabernet Franc. Vineyards: 45% Seven Hills, 41% Pepper Bridge, 8% Les Collines, 6% Goff. Integrated aromas of dark fruits and mint layer beautifully with notes of gravel and cedar. Full and generous flavors of black cherries and plums complement hints of mineral and cocoa powder. Gentle tannins support a supple, powerful mouthfeel. 14.1% alcohol."

Producer notes: "The wine's nose opens with spicy aromas of carnation, heather, and forest floor. The mouth, fuller than in past vintages, is finely textured with concentrated flavors echoing the varied aromas with subtle hints of cola. These broad flavors are shaped by a balanced, intricate structure."

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Vivid red. Highly perfumed, sexy bouquet of black raspberry, cherry-cola, fresh rose and smoky minerals, with a subtle orange zest nuance. Silky and gently sweet, with spicy red and dark berry flavors and a refreshingly bitter anise quality. Gains weight on the finish but maintains vivacity, leaving floral and spice qualities behind. 92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "(12.6% alcohol): Bright red. High-pitched aromas of blackberry and cherry, with complicating notes of potpourri, spicecake and smoky minerals. Tight and energetic, offering a silky texture, intense red and dark fruit flavors, and a subtle lavender pastille quality. Gains flesh and heft with air but with no loss of vivacity or focus. Fine-grained tannins add shape to the spicy, penetrating, very long finish. (May 2012)"
'Good (+),' PinotFile: "12.6% alc. This vineyard is located in the Green Valley and is farmed by owners Ron Black and Stephen Bessone. Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. The nose unfolds slowly in the glass, revealing aromas of dark red cherries and raspberries with hints of clove and other spices. Relatively light in weight and somewhat lean in style, with flavorful black cherry fruit caressed by supple tannins, and underlain with tight acidity. Admirable length with welcome freshness and accessibility. (6/25/12)"
Producer notes: "The nose is rich in exotic kirsch, violets, warm earth, and carnation. The wine’s texture is lush and deep but very well-delineated by balanced acids. While charming now and perhaps our most accessible wine early on, the wine’s focused length and chewy tannins will allow for years of aging."

Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 93 points by Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate), who wrote: "Anthill’s 2010 Pinot Noir Tina Marie Vineyard shows the exuberance and flash of Russian River. A juicy Pinot, the 2010 stands out for its pliancy and generosity. The up-front style makes the Tina Marie a pure pleasure to drink young, although it doesn’t quite have the pedigree or complexity of the Campbell Ranch. No matter, though, it is striking just the same. A burst of sublime, perfumed fruit graces the finish in this exquisite Pinot. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020."

90 points Robert Parker: "[$55 list] The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is a European take on Napa fruit with lots of terroir, earth, spice, black cherry, black currant, cedar, licorice and foresty notes. Medium-bodied and elegant with sweet tannins and excellent fruit, it should drink nicely for up to a decade. As evidenced by these two impressive offerings, Piero Antinori’s project on Atlas Peak is paying big dividends in terms of quality. Consultant Renzo Cotarella is the advising winemaker. (Dec 2010)" 1,800 cases produced.

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$55 list] The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon comes across as a bit more reticent and inward next to the superb 2008, but it, too, is a gorgeous wine. Dark red fruit, licorice, smoke and tar are some of the nuances that flow from this layered, gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2009 was bottled just two months ago. It will almost certainly be even better in a few years’ time. A mid-weight, gracious wine, the 2009 should drink well to age 20 or so. In 2009 the blend includes 1.5% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (Dec 2011)"
90 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright red-ruby. Tight nose hints at cassis and licorice. Intensely flavored and high-pitched, with strong acidity and floral lift to the youthfully medicinal flavors. Densely packed, energetic wine but clenched today. Finishes with firm tannins and a lightly herbal quality. Antica is short for Antinori California. (May 2012)"
90 points Wine & Spirits: "[$55 list] This wine’s Atlas Peak tannins are softer and gentler than you might expect, its structure benefiting from the acidity of the fruit. That comes across in green herb scents refreshing the plush, ripe plum flavors. It’s generous and open, easy to enjoy with roast lamb. (Oct 2012)"

Producer notes: "100% Pinot Noir from Silver Pines Vineyard, Bennett Valley, Sonoma County. Clones: 80% Mariafeld, 20% Pommard. Raised for 10 months in 100% French oak (80% new). The Vagrant is the only Pinot Noir that will bear the Argot name from the 2010 vintage. The production level is tragically low. What arrives in the glass is a stunning Pinot Noir that will caress every nook and cranny of your sensorial experience. Each bottle we have opened has offered immediate gratification. We believe The Vagrant will reward short term cellaring. We adore this juice." Argot winemaker Justin Harmon crafts small lots of white and red wines including Pinot Noir at Vinify in Santa Rosa.

Producer notes: "Back by popular demand is the latest version of multi-vintage Impromp2. This is a blend of wine from the cellar of Arns Estate. The wine is made from selections across clones and vintages 2005 - 2009. These are special wines that were not blended with the Arns Estate Cabernet. These small lots were intentionally set aside for this special blend because of their unique character and flavors. The rich older vintages along with the vibrant new vintages offer a great experience for the palate. Flavor characteristics of chocolate, cherries, anise, mulberry, black raspberries adds complexity and charm to this blend you can experience now or cellar for a later enjoyment. 100 cases produced."

Producer notes: "[$55 list] Arns would like to introduce their 5th vintage of 100% Syrah grown at a 1400’ rocky elevation known as Pritchard Hill. The vines were planted by John Arns in the early 1990s. The clonal selection came from Joseph Phelps Vineyards. This vineyard has moderate size berries on its vertical shoot positioned trellis. Flavors are unlike its French counterpart because of the rocky terrain, elevation, warmer and longer summers without interruption of rains. Dominant flavors are blackberries, cassis, ham anise, violets, leather and olive oil. It is truly rich on the palate with long, lingering high notes of acid and refined, but powerful tannins. It cries out for food to accompany its savory and rich flavors. Barrel aged 3 years in French oak (80% new). 65 cases produced."

91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Vivid red. Lively and precise on the nose, displaying scents of redcurrant, cherry, sandalwood and dried rose. Juicy and focused, with very good depth and sweetness to its red berry and bitter cherry flavors. Shows a refreshingly spicy quality on the firmly tannic, chewy finish, which lingers with impressive vibrancy and length. I'd let this one rest for a few years. (Nov/Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "While most Au Bon Climat Pinots are vineyard specific, Isabelle is created by masterful blending in the cellar of the best barrels from those specific sites (Bien Nacido, Sanford & Benedict, Talley Rincon, Mt. Carmel...the proportions are a very proprietary secret). The result is a wine of incredible depth, complexity, and focus- very serious Pinot. For this year's Isabelle, Jim was presented with more quality components than he has ever had to work with due to the exceptional nature of the vintage. A brilliant effort worthy of space in any cellar- it will live for years."

90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "($50) Bright red. Redcurrant and strawberry on the nose, with a lively underpinning of brown spices. Finely etched red berry flavors are given spine by a nervy mineral quality and pick up a rose pastille note on the back end. Finishes with a sweeter black raspberry quality and very good, sneaky persistence. This wine should age nicely on its balance and freshness. (May/Jun 2009)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "[$50 list] Light, silky and inviting, with a gossamer texture letting the delicate blueberry, cherry and nutmeg flavors slip easily through the long, enticing finish. Drink now through 2012. 2,414 cases made. (10/15/09)"
Producer notes: "Our 2007 Willamette Valley wine shows a delicate medium ruby color and very expressive aromas consisting of sweet cherries, a walk through the woods and a splash of white flowers. It consists of wine made from the following vineyards: Beaux Frères, Shea, Upper Terrace, Zena Crown, Amalie Robert and Carabella. The wine represents one of the silkiest and most feminine styles we have made to date. There is no lack of concentration but the equilibrium of all the elements seems to be the cheif hallmark of this very successful vintage. This wine is already delicious to drink now and showing complexity which makes us think that it will be a wine to drink within the first 5-7 years of its life. The balance which is always so critical is there. The tannins are unobtrusive and extremely silky. This is a real crowd pleaser, a very lush and beautifully supple Pinot Noir for the fan of instant gratification."

Producer notes: "Dense, dark garnet color. Aromas of juicy dark fruit, moist soil, vanilla and cocoa burst out of the glass. The palate is so rich that it can almost be chewed on. Flavors of pie filling, plum, cured meats and root beer enliven the senses. This wine has structural integrity with great depth. The balanced acidity leads to a provocatively supple finish."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 92 points by Wine Spectator: "Deliciously pure, rich and layered, with complex currant, blueberry and wild berry fruit that's supple, deep and persistent, ending with ripe tannins. Drink now through 2023."

PinotFile: "14.4% alc. Released October 2012. Own-rooted Martini clone planted in 1972. Aged 9 months in French oak barrels. Dark violet color in the glass. 100% de-stemmed, extended cold soak, aged 9 months in 60% new French oak barrels. Plenty to like on the nose with hi-tone aromas of spicy black plums, fresh blackberries and vanilla cream. A big gulp of exotically spiced plum and dark berry fruit is front and center, very seductive, expanding in the mouth, permeating every nook and cranny, and finishing with power, length and a velvety appeal. The creme soda-laced oak and cinnamon and clove spice flavors are complimentary. Similar to the 2010 version which was an 'All-American.' This wine has something unique and recognizable to me. Not even close to classic or Old World traditional Pinot Noir, but it tastes great and drinks seamlessly. Cool package too. (2/28/13)"

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. Intense red berry and Asian spice aromas, with a sexy potpourri quality and a hint of woodsmoke. Deeply pitched red and dark berry flavors show impressive energy and lift, picking up notes of star anise and cinnamon on the back half. Packs a punch but comes off as lithe, with very good finishing clarity and spicy persistence. Drinkable now but balanced to age. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
PinotFile: "13.4% alc... Robin and Mike Murto’s vineyard was established in 1978. Indigenous yeast fermentations, aged 18 months in French oak barrels. No fining or filtration. Moderately deep garnet color in the glass. Aromas of fresh picked red berries with a subtle green stem note. Slightly sweet dark red fruits are lighter weighted and somewhat buried in muscular tannins. Much better two days later from a previously opened and re-corked bottle displaying more vivid fruit and much less aggressive tannin. A good cellar candidate. Very good. (1/10/12)"
Producer notes: "The Estate Reserve will be released next summer, but for now you have this delicious 'junior' version to consider. It is a very expressive young wine with heady aromas of dark red & blue fruits, accented by herbs and woodsmoke. The palate is focused and long, medium bodied, with good underlying structure and perfect acid/tannin balance. This is a very attractive expression of the best attributes of Yamhill-Carlton Pinot. It can be enjoyed now, but will generously reward several years of patient cellaring! 725 cases produced."
