89 points Wine Enthusiast: "An opening salvo of honey and white fruits is solid as can be. The palate rolls out dry, angular citrus, pineapple and apple flavors in front of a finish that’s naturally fresh and nutty. A bubbly with no muss, fuss or confusion. Best if you like ‘em dry. (12/15/08)"
88 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "($16 list) Light greenish-yellow. Musky lemon and pear on the nose, with subtle floral and mineral qualities. Juicy and a touch grapey, offering deep yellow plum and pear flavors, with a bitter lemon pith note on the back. A chewy wine that packs a lot of flavor and finishes with dry, mineral-driven citrus and floral character. (Oct 2008)"

90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "(one-third each of xarel-lo, macabeo and chardonnay): Light gold. Aromas of lemon, green apple, spices and honeysuckle. Firm, lively and intense, with racy citrus flavors and a subtle mineral component. This pure, precise Cava finishes with very good energy and length. (Nov 2011)"
90 points Robert Parker: "This is basically the equivalent of a grower sparkling wine in Spain. A low dosage is based on a solera system going back to 1870! Composed of Chardonnay and Xarella, it exhibits crisp, minerally notes intermixed with hints of orange rind, brioche and lemon zest, light to medium body, and a chalky character. Cavas have come of age and are better than ever, and this impressive, boutique version is well worth trying. It should provide pleasure for several years. (Jun 2012)"
Importer notes: "[$24 list] Gramona's history is long and storied and the property has been a quality reference point in the zone for decades. As far back as 1816 a member of the family has been making wine in the Penedes. At Gramona, time is never an issue. The wines receive perhaps the longest average ageing than any other cava and are never released until they are pristine. 70% of the cavas produced in the zone are released after 9 months. Gramona ages a minimum of 18 months, and an average of 4 years. The Gran Cuvée Brut 2008 is 50% xarel-lo, 30% chardonnay, and 20% macabeo. Aged by methode champenoise: base wine aged for one year in French oak, second fermentation in the bottle with 30 months on the lees."
