Producer notes: "This light and crisp wine is bottled with residual carbon to give it its signature natural spritz. Candied red fruits combine with a lime infused edge makes this a wildly intriguing rosé. 50% Hondarribi Beltza and 50% Hondarribi Zuri."
Not yet reviewed; 2011 vintage rated 91 points by International Wine Cellar: "(made from a blend of 50% hondarribi beltza and 50% hondarribi zurri, from vines that are reportedly over 150 years old): Very pale pink. Ethereal, mineral-accented aromas of citrus fruits, strawberry and white flowers. Dry and tightly focused, with energetic orange peel and red berry flavors that show very good clarity. Clean and tangy on the precise finish, which leaves white pepper and mineral notes behind."

100% Tempranillo rosé from one of the benchmark Rioja producers. With a bright watermelon hue, this rosado is made in a fresh, friendly style offering bright, ripe strawberries, and a balanced, medium-bodied mouthfeel. This would be fantastic with grilled pork chops and a fresh green salad.

The Equipo Navazos La Bota de Fino #18 comes from one of the oldest bodegas in Jerez, Valdespino, which dates back to the 1400s but wasn't actually registered until 1875. This is a single vineyard Fino, from the Macharnudo Alto vineyard that is just north of Jerez and is widely regarded as one of the best in the area. Valdespino is also one of the few wineries that ferments the fino in the same barrels where it will start to age under flor. This bottling comes from several different butts that range from 8-1/2 to 10-1/2 years old, which is quite advanced for a fino. It was also bottled with almost no filtering, so the wine has more color and intensity than a typical fino. It will also continue to age well in bottle and pick up a more Amontillado note. Great acidity frames distinct nuttiness, toasted almonds, olives and an incredibly long finish. Drink this is in a regular wine glass as opposed to the traditional copita. Only 4,000 bottles produced.

The Equipo Navazos La Bota de Manzanilla Pasada #30 is a 15-butt solera of aged Manzanilla that was started in 1986. In order to keep this solera from becoming an Amontillado, it was gently babied with small additions of fresh wine to keep the flor active and the wine bright. It exhibits a strong saline character, superb richness and notes of olives, brine, and almonds. Drink this is in a regular wine glass as opposed to the traditional copita. Very limited; only 3,600 bottles were produced.

One of the darker, fuller styled rosés. Made in the Calatayud area of north central Spain with 100% Garnacha fruit, which lends a rich texture, fleshy spiciness, and red berry flavors. Enjoy this wine with curries, mushroom frittata, or all on its own on a warm afternoon.

96 points and 'Best Buy,' Robert Parker: "The dark amber-hued non-vintage East India Solera is essentially an old Oloroso blended with an old Pedro Ximenez, which gives it a sweet character. It offers more mature notes of maple syrup, brown sugar, spice box, raisin and chocolate beer nuts, and its terrific balancing acidity cuts through the sweetness. This delicious effort is best drunk after the meal. (Aug 2012)"
****/Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Dark brown cola color; excellent purity. Deep aromatic notes of dates, prunes, and figs mingle and stir way deep in the sampling glass; aeration introduces a nuttiness/nougat quality that merges well with the dried fruit elements. Entry is rich, lusciously pruny, leathery, and toasty, if just a touch lighter than I recall; midpalate expands marginally on the dried/ripe fruit aspect, bringing in chewy notes of buttercream, cocoa, and vanilla bean. Very good, even excellent... (Dec 2009)"
4 stars, Highly Recommended Decanter: "With mocha, dark chocolate and nut toffee, this is an oloroso that is at once sweet and almost savoury. The palate is supple and generous with a long finish. (Dec 2010)"
92 points Wine & Spirits: "[$30 list] This is a selection from botas of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez raised separately and then blended to age for three years in solera. The result puts the sweetness of the PX in front, with flavors of plum jam and tobacco. The salinity of the Oloroso brings freshness and fine minerality that play softly in the background. (Jun 2011)"
90 points Peñín Guide: "(palomino, pedro ximénez). Colour: mahogany. Nose: powerfull, dried fruit, spicy, pattiserie, dark chocolate, expressive. Palate: sweetness, powerful, flavourful. (2013)"
Lustau, founded in 1896, is renowned as a producer of Sherry and Brandy de Jerez, exporting the widest range of Sherries (including the prestigious Almacenista range) to more than 40 countries. Maintaining traditional methods, Lustau specializes in the highest-quality segment of the market.
Tasting note: The wine has a wonderfully figgy nose--almost liquid fig--and also chocolate, coffee, treacle, lots of orange, sour and cooked cherry, ash, and walnut. The mouth has the same, with more black pepper and sweet raisin meat. Chocolate and black pepper are expressed at the end. This wine can master a wide array of desserts and dessert ingredients. A blend of Palomino Fino and Pedro Ximénez. Aged for over 12 years in a solera system of American oak casks.

91 points Peñín Guide: "(100% palomino). Colour: bright straw. Nose: powerfull, complex, white flowers, pungent. Palate: long, fine bitter notes, good acidity. (2013)"
****/Highly Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Oyster/ecru/tarnished silver color; ideal clarity. Opening inhalations offer deep bread dough (rye), caraway seed, and black pepper notes that delight the senses immediately with their directness; further air contact sees the pepperiness diminish and the rye bread accelerate, also the seediness, meaning caraway and sesame. Entry is mineral dry and yeasty, but with more substance than many Finos; midpalate firm, salty dry, and peppery once again. Head and shoulders above most other Finos in terms of core substance. (Dec 2009)"
Wine Enthusiast: "More yellow than Lustau's manzanilla, Jarana is a lovely, proper fino with a nose of iodine, lemon blossom and popcorn. The palate is staunch and doesn't back down; the high-toned nut and citrus flavors seem classic and elevated. And the finish is intense and frames everything in walnut oil and toast. (Jun 2009)"
'Silver Medal,' Decanter: "(15% alcohol) Layered aromas of fresh apple and bread balanced on the tangy palate with a clean and refreshing finish. (Oct 2010)"
Producer notes: "Dry, but full wine coming from the Lustau bodegas in Jerez de la Frontera; elegant, but rich to taste. The richness is balanced by its crisp, flor character to give a lingering aftertaste. Awarded Silver Medal at IWC 2006. Drink as an apéritif or as a wine with food; particularly good with seafood. Serve chilled. Alcohol:15.5% by volume. Grape Variety: Palomino Fino."

96 points Peñín Guide: "(palomino). Colour: bright yellow. Nose: saline, flor yeasts, pungent, faded flowers. Palate: complex, flavourful, rich. (2013)"
94 points and 'Best Buy,' Robert Parker: "The non-vintage Light Manzanilla Papirusa Solera Reserva (with an average age of five years in this solera) possesses an extraordinary, penetrating nose of salty brined nuts intermixed with crisp fruit, terrific acidity and intense, powerful, authoritative flavors that are ethereal in their lightness. (Aug 2012)"
4 stars, 17.83/20 points Decanter: "Smoky flor, blanched almonds and bacon fat bouquet. Full-bodied and rich for a Manzanilla, with a mouthfilling salty breadth and delicious weight. Text-book style. Drink: From 2010. (Feb 2011)"
Producer notes: "A bone dry Manzanilla from the town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, light and fresh, very tangy, clean and crisp with just a hint of saltiness. Awarded Silver Medal at IWC 2006. Drink as an apéritif. Serve chilled. Alcohol: 15.5% by volume. Grape Variety: Palomino Fino."

95 points and 'Best Buy,' Robert Parker: "The non-vintage Moscatel Emilin Solera Reserva is the sweetest sherry in this group as well as the easiest to appreciate as it is made from 100% Moscatel. (Aug 2012)"
*****/Highest Recommendation, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Gorgeous chestnut brown/mahogany color; impeccable purity. Smells of black raisins and prunes but to my surprise there's also a trace of mintiness that I never noticed before in all the times in restaurants that I've enjoyed this benchmark sweet Sherry. Entry is sweet but not overly so, viscous but not syrupy or cloying, and oh so wonderfully prune-like and overripe; midpalate is perfectly balanced, over-ripe, slightly minerally, acidic, and, to my taste, a perfect sweet Sherry. Still a cornerstone for me. (Dec 2009)"
18/20 points Decanter: "At less than half the sugar of PX, Sherries from Moscatel are often overlooked, but it is a style worth discovering. Emilín is a model of refinement. Its sweet, silky palate is lifted by fresh fruits with darts of lime and mandarin. Alc 17%. (Dec 2012)"
91 points Peñín Guide: "(100% moscatel). Colour: light mahogany. Nose: acetaldehyde, dried fruit, cocoa bean, sweet spices. Palate: rich, flavourful, complex, toasty, long. (2013)"
Producer notes: "A rich concentrated dessert wine with the distinctive flavor of the Moscatel grape. Smooth and mellow with a very clean aftertaste. Awarded Gold Medal at IWC 2004. The ideal dessert wine, perfect with cakes, pastries and chocolate. Serve chilled."

94 points and 'Best Buy,' Robert Parker: "If you are looking for a dry sherry made in a slightly more oxidized style, the non-vintage Dry Oloroso Don Nuno Solera Reserva is your choice. Again, a nuttiness (in this case, walnuts) intermixed with a hint of Chinese black tea combine with salty, caramelized flavors make for a delicious glass of sherry. (Aug 2012)"
4 stars, 16.5/20 points Decanter: "Fragrant and youthful with nut, vanilla, orange, cocoa, coffee and chocolate notes. Brisk, focused and linear style with a classic austerity. Drink: From 2010. (Jan 2011)"

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Despite the sweet and delicate face of the Emperatriz on the label, this is one of the richest and most concentrated Sherries in the Lustau portfolio. Aromas of caramelized plum and nuts dominate, a chalkier scent in the background. Generous and round, it feels almost oily and thick, the chalky element giving tension, cutting the sweetness and adding an intriguing complexity. Great Oloroso. (Jun 2006)"
92 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "The non-vintage Oloroso de Jerez 'Emperatriz Eugenia' ratchets up the intensity. Because it is relatively dry, it is also a good match with savory foods. (Feb 2007)"

96 points and 'Best Buy,' Robert Parker: "A mind-blowing sherry is the non-vintage Palo Cortado Peninsula Solera Reserva. Like all Lustau sherries except for the East India, it is made from the Palomino varietal. A dry, crisp, full-throttle, intense sherry offering incredibly complex, nutty aromas, it represents a style that falls between the Amontillado and the more oxidized, heavier Oloroso. (Aug 2012)"
Producer notes: " A Palo Cortado brings together the finesse and delicacy of an Amontillado on the bouquet with the richness on the palate of an Oloroso. This rare wine, with its amber gold colour, dryness and immensely rich flavour, has light chocolate/coffee flavours yet retains plenty. Awarded Silver Medal at IWC 2005. Serve as an apéritif. Serve very slightly chilled. Alcohol: 19% by volume. Grape Variety: Palomino Fino."
***/Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Deep saffron/ochre color; superb clarity. Rich in nuttiness and butterscotch in the first whiffs; after another six minutes of exposure to air, the aromatic profile turns yeasty and bread dough-like, also with hints of under-ripe bananas. Entry is sour and yeasty; midpalate is nicely astringent and a bit baked and minerally. (Dec 2009)"

93 points and 'Best Buy,' Robert Parker: "The non-vintage Dry Amontillado Los Arcos Solera Reserva reveals a medium amber hue along with a nutty, honeyed, dry personality with great acid. (Aug 2012)"
90 points and 'Top 100 Wines of 2012 (#82),' Wine Spectator: "A more flattering style, with an off-dry edge to the walnut paste, hazelnut, date and clove-studded orange notes, which show nice focus and zip on the finish. Drink now. (2/29/12)"
4 stars, Highly Recommended, Decanter: "Pure old-Fino nose; rich, intense fruitcake with lots of spice. Incisive and evolved palate with delicate citrus and honey highlights and a nice finish. Complex mid-palate. Drink: From 2010. (Jan 2011)"
***/Recommended, F. Paul Pacult (Spirit Journal): "Bronze/burnished orange color; unblemished purity. Initial inhalations encounter deep aromas of leather-bound books, butterscotch, and prunes; more time in the glass deepens the leathery aspect and adds a pleasing note of walnut. Entry is lean, clean, tart, and astringent; midpalate features the acidic dried fruit element that dominates the taste profile. Ends cleansing, very tart, and austere. (Dec 2009)"
Producer notes: "A textbook Amontillado of great maturity. Naturally dry and soft, its palate gives a hint of wood and smoky raisins. A powerful and distinctive nutty bouquet. A better Amontillado would be difficult to find. Awarded Silver Medal at IWC 2005. Drink as a warming apéritif. Serve slightly chilled. Alcohol: 18.5% by volume. Grape Variety: Palomino Fino."

89 points Wine Spectator: "Caramel brown in color, with the viscosity of motor oil, this is soft yet firm, carrying flavors of walnut, dried fig and burnt sugar. Sweet but not oppressively so, with a slightly bitter finish. Drink now. (11/15/11)"
89 points Peñín Guide: "(Pedro Ximénez) Colour: light-bodied mahogany. Nose: toasty caramel, sweet spices, rancio notes, fruit preserve, dry nuts, balsamic herbs. Palate: full, flavourful, spicy, fine solera notes, toasty. (2009)"
'Bronze Medal,' Decanter: "(17% alcohol) Concentrated, persistent and heady raisin and caramel. (Oct 2010)"
Producer notes: "Almost black in color. A pronounced and delicious bouquet of the essence of sweet raisins. The taste is very sweet, smooth, pronounced and delicous just like dried raisins or sweet grape juice. Awarded Gold Medal at IWC 2006. This is a very sweet dessert wine consumed on its own or with rich, fruity puddings. Also classically used as the sauce for one of the famous desserts of Jerez: vanilla ice cream with Pedro Ximénez Sherry. Serve chilled. Alcohol: 17% by volume. Grape Variety: Pedro Ximénez."

'100 Top Values of 2010' and 90 points Wine & Spirits: "[$10 list] The gentle sparkle of this wine carries scents of honeyed apple and red-apple skin. It's fragrant and clean, and lasts on fruit, a rich style with balance. For crab cakes. (Jun 2010)"
88 points and 'Best Buy,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$10 list] This is as crisp and dry as a whispy reed, with a mild grassy note on the nose. It feels fresh and focused, with lime, peach and apple flavors. Fruity, fresh and easy to like from start to finish, this is what a Best Buy should be. (Oct 2012)"
'Best Values,' Wine Spectator: "[$10 list] Fresh and balanced, with a creamy bead supporting apple puree, pastry cream, anise and preserved lemon notes. Drink now. (4/30/13)"

Segura Viudas is one of the top Spanish sparkling wine producers, notes for its high production standards and artisan Cavas. Seguar Viudas Brut Reserva, a méthode Champenoise Cuvée of Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel-lo grapes grown in the renowned Penedès region of Spain, is clean and delicate, yet rich in flavor. Aged in the bottle for a minimum of three years, this fine cuvée is fairly crisp with an interesting floral note and mouth-pleasing sensation of creaminess.
Tasting note: The nose shows some yeast and dough aromas, along with lemon and red apple. The flavor is sweet Meyer lemon and red apple, and though it's not long in the finish, this is crisp and pleasing. This is an ideal Cava for parties and for very light appetizers.
