The 2010 Syrah is predominantly Malmesbury fruit about 1/3 of which is un-oaked. This intensely red colored wine shows big mouthfuls of red fruit and a hint of pepper,a silky and full-bodied texture with soft tannins and well integrated wood.
Not yet reviewed; 2009 vintage rated 87 points by Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, which wrote: "Soft and light on the nose with delicate aromas of raspberry and red cherry. The palate shows a bit more heft, with more concentrated flavors of juicy red plum flesh and berry mash laced with graham cracker and crushed iris petal accents. The structure is firm but balanced; drink now or hold for another year."

Producer notes: "Syrah 65%, Mourvèdre 32%, Viognier 3%. Both the Syrah and Mourvèdre component come from a Malmesbury vineyard with the Viognier sourced on Boekenhoutskloof. The reds were fermented using selected Rhone strain yeasts. French oak matured with Viognier blended prior to bottling. Egg white fined. Tasting Notes: Abundance of black fruit flavours with hints of violet. Unpretentious easy drinking with smooth tannins and sweet berries on the palate."
86 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$11 list] Bright red mixed berries are infused with a mocha streak, filling the medium weight, but juicy palate. Straightforward and enjoyable with clean fruit flavors and a short but softly spiced finish. Alcohol 14.5%. (May 2012)"

87 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Petit Pinotage has a fresh crisp mulberry and date-scented bouquet that is well defined and fresh. The palate is crisp and rounded on the entry with cassis and blueberry fruit. It displays fine depth and composure with a fresh, caressing finish. This is a well-made Pinotage. Drink now-2015. (Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "100% Pinotage. Unwooded, huge dollops of ripe berry fruit on the nose, inky red/black colour with bright hints. Soft and rich on the palate, with a delicious fruit concentration."

Producer notes: "Villiera was amongst the pioneers of (partially) wooded Chenin Blanc in the Cape, which results in a very integrated wine. The aim was to produce a rich, ripe wine which could handle a dimension of oak and would improve over an extended period. Intense fruit with a hint of wood spice on the nose, including pineapple, guava and citrus. On the palate, this wine is rich and full bodied with good balance and a long finish."
