Producer notes: "Among the most prestigious wines of Tuscany, this wine shows the great potential of the Sangiovese variety. This wine is comprised of primarily Sangiovese along with the indigenous Teroldego. Intense ruby red in color, the complex bouquet starts with red berry fruits then develops spicy aromas including vanilla, tobacco and light balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine reveals great structure, supported with good acidity and mature, well-balanced tannins. It finishes generously and with persistence, with a hint of licorice. Our Supertuscan I Pampini is produced only in the best years and it matures in French oak barrels, in order to enhance the bouquet and to enrich its complexity. Pairings: braised and roasted meats, game, strong and tasty matured cheese."

Dry, full, rich and powerful. The vineyards are planted on dry and stony soil, composed by clay at an altitude of 400 meters with an excellent exposition. The Prugnolo Gentile (a particular clone of the Sangiovese grape) represents the majority of the plants.

90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 La Massa flows from the glass with layers of freshly cut flowers, dark red berries and subtle French oak. This radiant red from Chianti Classico’s famed Conca d’Oro impresses for its open personality and inner palate juiciness. This is a striking wine from La Massa and proprietor Giampaolo Motta. In 2009 Motta opted for relatively short fermentations of 12-15 days for his Sangiovese. The blend was 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (Aug 2011)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Eneo is simply awesome. Juicy red cherries, new leather, tobacco, wild cherries and earthiness come together in a rich, powerful style. Elements of ripeness and structure are combined in a classy wine of notable pedigree. The finish is long, energetic and focused, bringing everything back into place with remarkable harmony. The 2007 Eneo is 40% Montepulciano, 25% Sangiovese, 25% Marselan and 10% Alicante Bouschet that was aged in used French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. (Oct 2010)"
91 points Wine Spectator: "[$45 list] A wine that tastes like blueberry jam, with hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long finish. The texture is very inviting. Best after 2011. 2,250 cases made. (10/31/10)"

'Top 100 Wine of 2011 (#36)' and 93 points Wine Spectator: "[$30 list] Very silky and floral, this red reminds me of Burgundy with its bilberry, violet and raspberry aromas and flavors. The grainy tannins show the other side to this wine, which will require time for the two components to balance. Ends with a long, intense, fruit-filled finish. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2014 through 2027. (9/14/11)"
92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$30 list] The 2007 Campaccio is beautifully ripe and succulent in its dark, extroverted fruit. In 2007, Campaccio veers on the edge of overripeness but there is just enough acidity to keep things in check. French oak, smokiness, new leather and licorice add depth to the rich, creamy finish. I am not sure how the 2007 will age, but it should provide highly pleasurable drinking for at least another decade. Campaccio is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. (Oct 2010)"

Three Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "Pierluigi Tolaini, who made his fortune as an emigrant in Canada, commenced his winemaking project in 1998 with the purchase of the San Giovanni and Montebello estates, situated at Pianella and Vagliagli. The first wines were made in 2002 and, after adapting its initial approach to the complex Chianti terroir, the cellar has since then been turning out exceptionally well-made products. The list is the result of meticulous care in the vineyard and rigorous work in the cellar. There is no hocus-pocus, just the restrained use of well-calibrated oak, mainly in the form of small casks, and respectful vinification. (2012)"
90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$30 list] The 2008 Valdisanti impresses for its layered personality, something that was quite difficult to achieve in this vintage. Plums, black cherries, sage, incense and sweet tobacco are some of the many notes that are woven into a soft fabric of notable class. Floral notes add freshness and balance on the finish. Valdisanti is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. (Jun 2012)"
90 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "(a blend of cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese): Ruby-red. Floral, highly perfumed aromas of cassis, violet and mint. Intensely flavored and penetrating, with very good volume to its black fruit, cedar and mint flavors. The long finish shows a mounting tannic quality and classic dryness. (Sep 2012)"
