97 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "Definitely on a top 10 list of Italian icons, Solaia affirms the massive potential of Italian winemaking, from vineyard to cantina to cellar and beyond. Superrich and polished, but never over the top, this gorgeous super Tuscan shows deep layers of chocolate, black cherry, rum cake and spice. The secret lies in its balance: Everything is in place, from intensity and complexity to persistency. (May 2012)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2008 Solaia is richer and darker than the Tignanello, but it isn’t an appreciably more complex or complete wine. It shows gorgeous depth and textural richness to match an expressive core of blackberry jam, smoke, scorched earth, crushed rocks and cassis. This is a beautiful wine, but not as great as I had hoped. The 2008 Solaia is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc, aged in 100% new oak. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Aug 2011)"

Producer notes: "The Da Vinci Chianti is deep crimson in color with aromas of cherries and red fruit balanced by soft, round tannins."

93+ points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is one of the more slender wines in this line up, in keeping with the personality of the vintage. That is not a bad thing for readers who are cellaring some of the bigger, richer vintages that may take longer to mature. Silky tannins frame a core of black cherries, plums, licorice and tobacco through to the vibrant finish. The 2008 speaks of textural finesse and silkiness first and foremost. I will not be surprised if the 2008 blossoms further with more time in bottle. Today it is immensely beautiful. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028. (Jun 2012)"
92 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "Bright, full red. Nuanced, scented nose combines raspberry, redcurrant, tobacco and sweet spices. Suave, juicy and complex, with harmonious acidity giving shape and freshness to the wine's concentrated plum, tobacco and herb flavors. Finishes savory and minerally, with substantial but smooth tannins and lovely lingering perfume. A big success for the vintage. (Jul 2012)"
92 points James Suckling: " juicy red with spices, berries and light toasted wood character. Full and velvety textured, with a long finish. Intense wine. But so good now. Drink now. (7/24/11)"

Two Glasses, Gambero Rosso (2012).
2007 vintage rated '#1 Wine of the Year - The Enthusiasxt 100' and 93 points by Wine Enthusiast: "From Frescobaldi’s gorgeous Nipozzano estate, this Riserva Sangiovese (with small percentages of Malvasia Nera, Cabernet and Merlot for extra density and intensity) opens with impressive generosity and personality. It offers lingering flavors of cherry, chocolate and dark spice."

88 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "($10 list; an 85/15 blend of sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon; no oak; 12.5% alcohol) Light, bright red. Aromas of red berries, pipe tobacco and underbrush. Tangy and penetrating but not hard in the mouth, with fresh acids framing the red fruit and tar flavors. Finishes bright and simple, with a lingering sweetness. (Jul/Aug 2010)"
Producer notes: "Sangiovese 85%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15%. Remole ’08 greets the eye with a deep, brilliant purple. The bouquet is a dense complex of fruit aromas, such as blackberry, raspberry, cherry, and redcurrant, lifted with fragrant hints of spice and black pepper. The palate is velvet smooth, very warm and rich, with a perfect balance of its components and a refreshing crispness. A long-lingering finish mirrors nicely the fruit on the nose."

Producer notes: "Among the most prestigious wines of Tuscany, this wine shows the great potential of the Sangiovese variety. This wine is comprised of primarily Sangiovese along with the indigenous Teroldego. Intense ruby red in color, the complex bouquet starts with red berry fruits then develops spicy aromas including vanilla, tobacco and light balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine reveals great structure, supported with good acidity and mature, well-balanced tannins. It finishes generously and with persistence, with a hint of licorice. Our Supertuscan I Pampini is produced only in the best years and it matures in French oak barrels, in order to enhance the bouquet and to enrich its complexity. Pairings: braised and roasted meats, game, strong and tasty matured cheese."

90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$29 list] The 2008 Bolgheri Greppicante (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc) is a more serious, powerful red that could use another 6-12 months for the tannins to settle down. The generous warmth of the dark fruit shows wonderful depth leading to an articulate finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2016. (Oct 2010)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "[$29 list] Blackberry and cassis aromas, as well as hints of toasty oak, lead to a full body, with very polished tannins and more light toasty oak. This shows lots of fruit and intensity. Best after 2013. (9/30/10)"

88 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$23 list] The 2008 Chianti Classico is a very pretty wine with plenty of Sangiovese character and juiciness. Dark red berries, flowers, mint and tobacco are some of the nuances that flow from this tasty, pleasing Chianti Classico. The 2008 has the acidity and structure to drink well for a number of years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. (Jun 2012)"
Producer notes: "This beauty shows an ample bouquet of berries and violets that speak of the variety, and encompasses well integrated earthiness and spicy notes. It is a perfect example of the elegance, aromas and character of its unique soil: full, round, with silky tannins, good structure and lingering finish."

16.5/20 points Julia Harding, JancisRobinson.com: "Fragrant cherry fruit as only Sangiovese can do. Even very slightly floral. Then a firm, fresh dry depth. Mouthfilling and fresh and a long dark cherry tang on the finish. Good Value."
Well made Chianti from the Montalbano district near Florence. A blend of Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera, aged in large botte. Deep in color, richly textured with warm and ripe cherry fruit and a nice spicy finish. Great value.

The floral aromatics render an impression of accessibility but the darkness and richness of the fruit that follow hint at a far more important pedigree. Dark red berries, flowers and minerals add the final notes of complexity on the impressive finish. This is one of the most rewarding wines readers will find under $10. 90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$30 list] The 2008 Chianti Classico Querciabella is a very pretty, attractive wine laced with fragrant red fruit. This is a finely knit, small scaled vintage of the Querciabella with beautiful balance and a long, harmonious finish. A beautifully delineated, crystalline finish rounds out this wine that shows the more delicate, Burgundian side of Sangiovese. I hope readers can appreciate just how hard it must have been to make a wine of this level from biodynamically farmed vineyards with minimum intervention in the very challenging 2008 harvest. The Querciabella is 95% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016. (Oct 2010)"
90 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "(sangiovese with 5% cabernet sauvignon) Deep red-ruby. Balsamic black plum, sweet milk chocolate and coffee liqueur aromas on the captivating, mineral-accented nose. Then fleshy and ripe in the mouth, with more spicy black plum, herb and coffee flavors. Finishes soft and smooth, with a trace of finishing heat. Well done, if on the ripe side. (Jul/Aug 2010)"

Producer notes: "Intense ruby red. The nose immediately shows an outstanding elegance, characterized by particularly fragrant flowery and fruity notes. Violet, cherries, wild berries and plums meet with delicately spicy hints of tobacco and white pepper grains, followed by elegant scents of red roses and flint. Notes of fragrant fresh fruit are accompanied by steady yet gentle tannins, that exalt enjoyable spicy hints. The whole tasting sensation is enriched by a persistent finish, that is incredibly fresh and pleasantly mineral and presents an aftertaste with fascinating notes of rosemary. Alcohol 13.5%."

89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2008 Chianti Classico Scassino is an attractive wine blessed with gorgeous dark red fruit, vanilla and spiciness. The purity of the fruit is striking, but the oak seems a bit too much for the wine’s medium-bodied structure. Still, it is undoubtedly a delicious red with terrific length and lovely overall balance. Scassino is 97% Sangiovese and 3% Canaiolo. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015. (Oct 2010)"
89 points Wine & Spirits: "An earthy aroma contrasts the gentle, honeyed richness of fruit in this modern Chianti. Its rich, smooth tannins create a creamy texture to soften the peppery earth character underneath. Give this a year in bottle to evolve, then serve with a steak. (Apr 2012)"

Three Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "Pierluigi Tolaini, who made his fortune as an emigrant in Canada, commenced his winemaking project in 1998 with the purchase of the San Giovanni and Montebello estates, situated at Pianella and Vagliagli. The first wines were made in 2002 and, after adapting its initial approach to the complex Chianti terroir, the cellar has since then been turning out exceptionally well-made products. The list is the result of meticulous care in the vineyard and rigorous work in the cellar. There is no hocus-pocus, just the restrained use of well-calibrated oak, mainly in the form of small casks, and respectful vinification. (2012)"
90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$30 list] The 2008 Valdisanti impresses for its layered personality, something that was quite difficult to achieve in this vintage. Plums, black cherries, sage, incense and sweet tobacco are some of the many notes that are woven into a soft fabric of notable class. Floral notes add freshness and balance on the finish. Valdisanti is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. (Jun 2012)"
90 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "(a blend of cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese): Ruby-red. Floral, highly perfumed aromas of cassis, violet and mint. Intensely flavored and penetrating, with very good volume to its black fruit, cedar and mint flavors. The long finish shows a mounting tannic quality and classic dryness. (Sep 2012)"
