*SPECIAL: Take 10% Off Listed Price! (We'll reduce item's price when processing your order.) 95 points Wine Spectator: "[$135 list] Shows meat and blackberry on the nose, with hints of rose perfume. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, rich and flavorful finish. Love the cocoa, berry and light vanilla bean aftertaste. This is always classic in an outstanding year. Best from 2010 through 2015. 1,500 cases made. (2009)"
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$135 list] We preferred Altesino's base Brunello to its cru selection from the estate's special 10-acre vineyard--but only by the smallest of margins. Montosoli is a tremendous wine with impressive intensity and staying power that takes shape as cherry, tobacco, spice and bursting blueberry. Drink from 2010 through 2020. (Jun 2009)"
92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The estate’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli is a big, strapping wine loaded with dark fruit, smoke, new leather and minerals. The Montosoli, from one of Montalcino’s top sites, shows considerable density and richness. The tannins build on the finish, rounding out a gorgeous Brunello that achieves a brilliant combination of power and elegance. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2022. (Jun 2009)"

98 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "This is a landmark wine from a landmark vintage. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, which results in a generous, striking and unforgettable product. The bouquet is elegant and toned, with aromas of dark fruit, tobacco and chocolate. The mouthfeel is tight and firm, and it boasts persistence and impressive balance. It has all of the qualities required for long-term aging, so keep this for 10 years or more. (Apr 2013)"
97 points James Suckling: "Best Guado al Tasso ever. Wonderful nose of crushed blackberries and cherries with hints of dark chocolate. Full-bodied, with soft and round tannins and a long, long finish. It goes on for minutes. Now just a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Better after 2015. (8/29/12)"
94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso impresses for its richness and sheer power. Mocha, sweet spices, plums, blackberries and herbs wrap around the palate as this intense wine shows off its pedigree. Layers of flavor build to the deep, intensely satisfying finish. The 2009 is complete and harmonious from the very first taste. In 2009 the blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. (Jun 2012)"
Producer notes: "60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. On the nose the initial balsamic sensations are followed by aromas of ripe fruit and spices, on the palate is velvety, with soft tannins and much finesse. The finish and aftertaste are well supported by savory mineral notes and much length and persistence."

97 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Solaia saturates the palate with a heady array of super-ripe black cherries, plums, cassis, mocha and sweet French oak. There is an exotic quality to the Solaia I find totally irresistible. Despite its considerable ripeness and opulence, the 2007 Solaia is never heavy, rather it impresses for its extraordinary finesse and balance. Minerals, graphite and crushed rocks frame a long, seductive finish. This is a wonderful Solaia loaded with vintage and vineyard character. The 2007 Solaia is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc, aged in 100% new oak. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. (Oct 2010)"
94 points Wine Spectator: "A racy wine that offers so much currant and blackberry character. Full and very silky. Goes on and on. Fascinating. Best after 2012. (10/31/10)"
94 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "(14% alcohol) Fully saturated inky ruby. Knockout nose of blackcurrant, mocha, coffee and nutty oak, plus strong soil tones of tobacco and herbs. Wonderfully ripe and full but with a sappy menthol lift to the utterly pure, drop-dead gorgeous flavors of blackcurrant, tobacco and minerals. Compared to the 2007 Tignanello, which currently comes across as a baby Solaia, this has more of everything, especially including sweetness and flesh. One of the better versions of Solaia of the last decade: it offers plenty of upfront charm and fleshy creaminess, but it may not prove to be as long-lived as the 2004 or the 2006. (Sep/Oct 2010)"
Three Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "Three Glasses again for the Solaia. This blend, based on cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese with a dash of cabernet franc, offers echoes of currants and strawberries on the nose with subtly fresh, clean vegetal hints. The dynamic palate and already relaxed tannins reflect a style that favours elegance and allure, leading to a long, dry finish. (2011)"

97 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "Definitely on a top 10 list of Italian icons, Solaia affirms the massive potential of Italian winemaking, from vineyard to cantina to cellar and beyond. Superrich and polished, but never over the top, this gorgeous super Tuscan shows deep layers of chocolate, black cherry, rum cake and spice. The secret lies in its balance: Everything is in place, from intensity and complexity to persistency. (May 2012)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2008 Solaia is richer and darker than the Tignanello, but it isn’t an appreciably more complex or complete wine. It shows gorgeous depth and textural richness to match an expressive core of blackberry jam, smoke, scorched earth, crushed rocks and cassis. This is a beautiful wine, but not as great as I had hoped. The 2008 Solaia is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc, aged in 100% new oak. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Aug 2011)"

100 points Wine Spectator: "It's hard to imagine a more concentrated, layered young Brunello, with aromas of crushed berries, treacle tart, light raisin, coffee and chocolate that follow effortlessly to the palate. Full-bodied, with chewy yet velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Develops wonderfully in the glass and grows fruitier with every minute. A great wine, with extraordinary depth. One of the greatest Brunellos of all time. Classic. Best after 2012. 895 cases made. (4/30/07)"
100 points James Suckling: "Unbelievable. Can you believe the texture and depth in this wine? Very precise, full bodied with fabulous length that goes on with a hint of minerals. I am left speechless after this wine. Fabulous. (1/9/11)"
Three Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "As usual, the celebrated Brunello Cerretalto '01 was in a class of its own, notching up yet another Three Glass triumph. It's a wine that faithfully reflects its terroir and lovely red soil. A deep colour ushers in a nose that requires a few moments to release its full complexity, commencing with fruity notes of wild and morello cherries before progressing to medicinal herbs. In the mouth, there is concentration and impressive depth, with close-knit but well-integrated tannins, the full body nicely supported by acidity. The finish is exceptionally long and the cellar prospects are excellent. (2008)"

'Wine of the Year (2006)' and 97 points Wine Spectator: "Dark color with intense blackberry, chocolate and lightly toasted oak. Full-bodied and ultravelvety, with caressing tannins. Vanilla, chocolate and berry. Goes on for minutes. Best after 2010. (4/30/06)"
97 points James Suckling: "There is so much ripe fruit here with a decadent richness that is just crazy. Verges on raisins but it goes instead to pure fruit. Very full and velvety with a long finish. I love this. (12/9/10)"
Three Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "The more modern-styled Tenuta Nuova '01 is no less remarkable. Here we see more barrel influence on the ripe fruit while the palate flaunts terrific component balance. It too builds a superbly luxurious, endless finish. (2007)"
96 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "Medium-deep bright ruby. Beautiful, profound nose of sweet ripe cherry, pipe tobacco, almond and raspberry jam. Ripe, suave and juicy, with sweet flavors similar to the aromas, this is an absolutely seamless wine with lively harmonious acidity on a suave, never-ending finish. Though extremely concentrated, this is a uniquely refined Brunello with wonderfully suave smooth, classy tannins. (Jun 2007)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$220 list] Castello dei Rampolla’s 2003 D’Alceo (85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot) is another ripe, powerful wine packed with layers of super-ripe, opulent fruit, graphite, licorice and tar supported by a firm, classic structure that will require time to fully come together. It is sweeter and riper than the Sammarco, and its more supple personality works well to balance the wine’s structural components. As with the 2004s, the D’Alceo seems to have a slight edge in terms of its overall balance. The 2003 is a stunning effort. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. (Jun 2007)"

'Three Glasses Plus,' Gambero Rosso: "The '07 Camartina, a celebrated red obtained from sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon aged in largely new French barriques, has a divine profile that alternates dark sensations of blueberry, black cherry, toastiness and coffee with a mellower, aromatically green soul that is fresh and balsamic. What follows is a monumental palate, creamy and very, very long. (2011)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Camartina, a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese, is relatively understated in this vintage. Crushed flowers, berries and subtle French oak are woven together in a fine, silky fabric of notable class. The 2007 possesses terrific clarity and focus, if not quite the richness of the finest vintages. My impression is this will be a relatively early-drinking Camartina. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. (Oct 2010)"
91 points Wine Spectator: "A wine with lots of new wood, yet also plenty of currant and chocolate character underneath. Full and very tight, with chewy tannins, but the fruit density is impressive. Best after 2011. 1,165 cases made. (10/31/10)"
90 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "(14% alcohol) Dark ruby. Musky aromas of red cherry, black plum, blackberry jam, tobacco and brown spices. Enters full-bodied, broad and pliant, with a saline nuance adding complexity to the dark fruit, sage and rosemary flavors. The herbal element repeats on the long, smooth finish. (Jul/Aug 2010)"
91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese opens with plush layers of cherry and blackberry and touches of spice and toast that are never overdone. In fact, the wine shows power and determination allied to delicacy. Alcohol 14%. 1,500 cases produced. (May 2012)"

97 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$215 list] The 2009 Ornellaia caresses the palate with layers of seamless, radiant fruit. Sweet red berries, mocha, flowers, new leather and spices are some of the many notes that are layered in this sumptuous, totally beautiful wine. The 2009 stands out for its silky tannins and phenomenal overall balance. This is one of those wines that will probably enjoy a long drinking window. There is little question the ability to blend grape varieties was a huge help in this vintage. In my opinion, that is the main reason Ornellaia is a slightly more complete wine than Masseto in 2009. In one of my blind tastings, the 2009 made a very eloquent case for itself as the wine of the vintage. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. In 2009 winemaker Axel Heinz used the highest percentage of Cabernet Franc ever in Ornellaia and gave the wine less time in oak, both with the goal of preserving as much freshness as possible. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. (Jun 2012)"
96 points and 'Top 100 Italian Wines in 2012,' James Suckling: "Subtle and complex with sweet tobacco and chocolate. Tar too. It's full-bodied, with racy tannins and a long finish. So fine. This is the most Cabernet Franc in the blend ever at the estate -- 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. Beautiful now but better in 2015. (8/29/12)"
94 points Wine Spectator: "[$215 list] Very aromatic, featuring floral and leafy black currant scents that follow through to plum, iron and tar flavors. Bordeaux-like with a supple texture, yet also firmly structured, offering herb and spice notes on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2013 through 2020. 100 points Wine Spectator: "This is fantastic, showing incredible length and richness. Supersilky and caressing. It's an absolute joy to taste. Full-bodied, with blackberry, light vanilla and a long, long finish. The aftertaste goes on for minutes. This is the best Masseto ever made and a monument to Tuscany. I have tasted it more than 10 times already in the last two years. It's always great.--Masseto non-blind vertical. Best after 2012. 2,670 cases made. (10/31/04)"
100 points James Suckling: "This has an intense nose of brown sugar, porcini mushrooms, dark fruits, tobacco, olives, cigar box... I am running out of words to describe the nose. The palate is full bodied and ultra rich. This is a monumental wine that arouses all your senses. Truly exotic and sensual. Enjoy this for the rest of your life. Find the wine. (3/3/11)"
Three Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "Masseto '01 is a great red from merlot grapes, and above all a monument to winemaking at Bolgheri. Immense and unforgettable, it is garnering rave reviews in the wine press around the globe. Today, it inevitably pays the price of an extreme youth that does not yet disclose the peaks of elegance for which it is destined in the coming years. One can only compare it to the world's other great Merlots, particularly those from Pomerol. Nonetheless, it has characteristics of its own deriving from the sun-drenched Mediterranean context of Bolgheri. Black fruits, tobacco, smokiness and minerals emerge on the nose. Velvety tannins, pervasive alcohol and exceptional persistence mark out the palate. In short, it is a thoroughbred of a wine. (2005)"
99 points Wine Enthusiast: "Even better than the highly acclaimed 2001 vintage, this Merlot from a tiny, clay soil vineyard in Bolgheri is just about everything you’ve ever dreamed of tasting. Gorgeous, generous, voluptuous, cheerful, succulent and intense: Masseto is all those things. The aromas are seamless and capture the essence of chocolate fudge, sweet cherry, blackberry, spice and vanilla. It boasts thick, dense extraction, excellent structure and amazing persistence. (Apr 2008)"
97 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2001 Masseto lives up to its reputation as a modern-day legend. The wine has everything; beautifully delineated aromatics, generous fruit and plenty of structure to support all of the elements. It is a big, massive Masseto endowed with huge fruit and an exotic, powerful personality. An eternal finish rounds things out in style. The 2001 is dazzling from start to finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2023. (Nov 2011)"

Awarded special designation of "Three Glasses Plus" by Gambero Rosso (2010).
97 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$215 list] The 2006 Sassicaia may very well go down as one of the all-time great recent vintages for this Tuscan thoroughbred. The year started off very warm but by August evening temperatures had moderated, leaving the fruit with a stunning combination of ripeness, perfume, acidity and tannin. The wine is simply glorious, that’s all there is to it. Layers of dark fruit meld into smoke, leather, violets, menthol, earthiness and tar as this profound wine opens up in the glass. The creamy, silky finish lasts an eternity, as waves of fruit caress the tannins with breathtaking elegance. Everything is in the right place in this magical Sassicaia. This is one for the ages. In a word: Awesome. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2031. (Aug 2009)"
95 points Ian D'Agata (International Wine Cellar): "($220 list; 85% cabernet sauvignon and 15% cabernet franc) Bright red-ruby. Complex nose melds red cherry, blackcurrant, minerals, dried herbs and a delicate oaky vanillin nuance; the fruit aromas show an almost roasted quality without going over the top. Sweet, concentrated and nicely fresh, with an impression of strong extract and a hint of exotic fruits to the flavors of ripe red and dark berries, chocolate, plum and wild herbs. The candied fruit quality carries through on the long, smooth finish, where there's a trace of heat and hints of menthol and minerals. A very successful Sassicaia but, in my notebook, just a little below the lofty heights of the 2001 or 2004. But given the quality of this wine, that's quibbling. (Sep/Oct 2010)"
95 points James Suckling: "Sweet tobacco, and berry with hints of currants. Full, soft and silky. Lots of fruit and a long finish. It’s subtle, dense and sophisticated. Please give this another five years to really show what it has. (6/28/12)"
94 points Wine Spectator: "[$215 list] Displays sweet tobacco, plum and berry aromas, with a jammy undertone, turning to licorice on the palate. Full-bodied and balanced, with silky tannins, a lovely texture and plenty of fruit. Outstanding Sassicaia, with structure and finesse. 85 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 15 percent Cabernet Franc. Best after 2013. (10/31/09)"
18.5/20 points Neal Martin (The World of Fine Wine): "Deeper in color than the '07, there is certainly more ripeness and roundness on the nose, with black olive, licorice, and a touch of umeboshi, all with exceptional definition. The palate is full-bodied, with ripe black-plum fruit interlaced with licorice and a touch of spice. Very harmonious, very focused, with wonderful delineation toward the fresh, vibrant finish, which shows immense structure and brio. I have a feeling that this may close up in a couple of years, but this is certainly a stunning Sassicaia. (Issue #30; 2010)"

100 points and 'Top 100 Wine of 2007 (#13),' Wine Spectator: "Mind-blowing aromas of crushed berries, meat, blackberry and violet. Full-bodied, with layers of incredibly velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is so complex and long, and the mouthfeel is spellbinding. Develops wonderfully in the glass, becoming more and more rich with air. One of the greatest Brunellos I have ever tasted. Best after 2012. 2,000 cases made. (8/30/07)"
100 points James Suckling: "Unbelievable. Can you believe the texture and depth in this wine? Very precise, full bodied with fabulous length that goes on with a hint of minerals. I am left speech less after this wine. Fabulous. (1/9/11)"
96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna del Piano is another remarkable wine. It is a ripe, ample Brunello with tons of fruit. Compared to the broad-shouldered 1999, the 2001 possesses a touch greater detail and more finesse in its tannins. This is a beautifully delineated, chiseled wine of the highest level. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. (Jan 2009)"
