87 points Fine Wine Review: "...the wine is exactly as it is supposed to be. The nose features spiced red cherry aromas. The mouth is medium-weight with red cherries and violets, and some steeliness to the texture. This is a good everyday wine, to serve slightly cool. 12% stated alcohol. (Issue #135/136; 2012)"
Bouquet: delicate but well defined, vinous, berries. Taste: dry, velvety, slightly almond, full, well balanced. More earth than fruit, good juice for the Old World wine lovers.

88 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(disgorged in March of 2011, less than five grams per liter of residual sugar): Pale bright yellow. Pretty floral nose with a leesy complexity. Lemony and young but showing a creamy leesy quality to go with suggestions of ripe stone fruits. Sound, harmonious acidity extends the dusty finish of this youthful, cool wine. (Oct/Nov 2011)"
Producer notes: "Straw-yellow color with swift foam of tiny and persistent bubbles. Fruity notes, yeast and biscuits are perceived in the nose. Plentifulness and softness are revealed in its dry flavor."

89 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(bottled in July, along with the 2009 Barbera and the 2008 Barolo): Medium bright red. Very primary aromas of black cherry, minerals, licorice, flowers and leather. Juicy and penetrating, with medicinal black cherry flavor intensified by strong acidity. 'Lighter than the 2009 dolcetto, and good for everyday drinking,' noted Maria-Teresa Mascarelo. This very pure wine grew on me. (Oct/Nov 2011)"

88 points James Suckling: "Delicate light for the vintage but shows attractive spice and smoked meat and dried berry character. Medium body, chewy finish. Better in 2013. (7/19/12)"

89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "Menthol, dark fruit, leather, licorice and violets emerge from the 2009 Dolcetto d'Alba. This is an especially generous vintage for the estate’s Dolcetto, a wine that impresses for its intensity and balance. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012. (Aug 2010)"

89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Dolcetto d’Alba is quite rich and textured in this vintage, but nevertheless has plenty of varietal character. This mouthfilling, juicy Dolcetto is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Blueberries, spices and licorice wrap around the intense finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014. (Oct 2012)"

89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$55 list] The 2008 Nebbiolo d’Alba Valmaggiore is the product of a challenging harvest. A soft, mid-weight wine, the Valmaggiore flows with the essence of dried fruit, flowers, sweet herbs and spices. This is a relatively easygoing Valmaggiore that doesn’t quite reach the summit of the finest years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015. (Dec 2010)"

89 points Wine Spectator: "Features generous cherry and strawberry fruit, with licorice and tobacco flavors offsetting the firm structure. Shows balance and moderate length. Drink now through 2018. 4,000 cases made. (2013)"
Producer notes: "Offers up generous fruit along with menthol, spices and hard candy, showing notable intensity while retaining an essentially mid-weight style. Round, suave tannins add to the long and refined finish. Food pairings:Hearty stew, wild game, roasted red meats and sharp, aged cheeses. Alcohol 14.1%."
