Two Glasses, Gambero Rosso: "Bovio began making wine in 1976 and the results have been increasingly convincing, thanks in no small part to the passionate commitment of cellar manager Walter Porasso... These Barolos have a classic style that foregrounds fruit over oak which is barely perceptible in the first few years in bottle. (2012)"

98 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Barolo Ciabot Mentin is one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted at this address. Deep, sensual layers of fruit flow from the glass as this full-throttle, intense Barolo reveals its profound, breathtaking personality. The 2007 shows tons of Ginestra nuance, but with extra dimensions to the fruit that literally covers every nook and cranny of the palate. Tasting this next to the 2006 is quite a comparison, as both wines are fabulous. Readers who can should be sure to own bottles of both. A side-by-side comparison is sure to be fascinating as the wines develop over the coming years. Astute readers will note the slight name change here, which is the result of new regulations that require the use of the historic vineyard name, in this case Ginestra, or a proprietary name. Call me nostalgic, but it is sad to see one of the iconic labels in Barolo disappear. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. (Feb 2011)"
95 points James Suckling: "Full bodied, with velvety tannins and milk chocolate, and nutmeg character, with hints of hazelnut. Balanced and attractive. Best after 2015. (5/6/11)"

96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$105 list] The 2007 Barolo Pajana is a showstopper. Waves of intense, beautifully delineated fruit flow onto the palate as the wine opens up in the glass. Sumptuous and elegant through and through, the Pajana shows marvelous delineation and clean, minerally notes that underpin the opulence of the fruit. This is a marvelous, totally complete Pajana of the highest level. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. (Feb 2011)"
93 points Wine Spectator: "A tight-fisted, compact example, with cherry, menthol and spice flavors locked up by the stern structure. Stays fresh and energetic on the long finish, revealing its ultimate potential. Be patient. Best from 2015 through 2032. 680 cases made. (4/30/12)"

94 points Wine Spectator: "There's a glimpse of fleshy black cherry and plum fruit before the aggressive tannins force this wine into shut-down mode. This stays dense and chewy through the finish, which echoes the black fruit and leaves a spicy impression. Best from 2015 through 2035. 600 cases imported. (11/30/11)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Barolo Cannubi is easily the most elegant and refined of these 2007 Baroli from Damilano. It shows fabulous site character in its crushed rose petals, sweet red berries and spices. The vintage has given the Cannubi an extra measure of textural richness and body, without robbing it of what is a very classic aromatic and flavor profile. The Cannubi continues to gain volume in the glass, showing more and more fleshiness with time. The wine can be enjoyed now, but it will be even better in a few years once some of the baby fat drops off. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. (Oct 2011)"
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$90 list] From one of Italy’s greatest vineyard designations, this Cannubi Barolo shows all the beauty and elegance that makes Piedmont a wine region celebrated and envied around the world. The 2007 edition of the wine is particularly soft and ripe with plush cherry and pipe tobacco aromas followed by a smooth, velvety finish. (Sep 2011)"

Three Glasses, Gambero Rosso (2012).
96 points Wine Spectator: "[$300 list] An elegant, fruity style, boasting raspberry, cherry and floral aromas and flavors. This is pure and delicate for the commune, with fine intensity, finesse and depth. The tannins mesh beautifully with the wine's silky texture, ending with an excellent finish. Just surprisingly open and approachable. Best from 2014 through 2032. 1,500 cases made. (12/15/11)"
95 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good deep red. Perfumed, complex nose melds plum, red cherry, mocha, tobacco, wild herbs and spices. Sweet, silky and seamless, with almost painful intensity to its fruit if not yet as complex in the mouth as on the nose. Healthy acidity accentuates the wine's perfume. Finishes with very suave tannins and outstanding floral persistence. Said Dante Scaglione: 'I thought 2007 in Serralunga would be great from the moment of the harvest.' (Oct/Nov 2011)"
94+ points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Barolo Falletto is an overachieving wine, even at this high level. The bouquet has a level of delineation, sweetness, inner perfume and nuance generally only found in Giacosa’s Red Label Riservas. The Falletto impresses for the intensity of its dark fruit and superb overall balance. The extroverted personality of the vintage is quite evident, especially as the wine sits in the glass. Menthol, flowers and licorice add the final notes of complexity on the finish. This is an especially racy Barolo from Bruno Giacosa, but the trademark elegance is there. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. (Feb 2011)"
94 points James Suckling: "Dried strawberries, with hints of flowers. Full bodied, with clean fruit and polished tannins. Very fruity. Need a couple of years to soften. Reminds me of the 1997. (5/6/11)"

100 points James Suckling: "I tasted this last year and had to put it in this report again after tasting it a couple of weeks ago. This is phenomenal. Clearly perfect with layers of subtle fruit and spices and hints of chocolate. Full and very long. It builds on the palate and goes and goes. Hazelnut and dark fruits. So fresh and bright too. A fabulous and structured red. January 2013 release. 12,000 bottles made. (7/19/12)"
98 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Barolo Riserva Le Rocche del Falletto bursts onto the palate with masses of dark fruit. The Riserva is a decidedly dark, brooding wine in this vintage. Scorched earth, smoke, menthol, licorice and new leather flow with marvelous intensity all the way through to the powerful finish. Over time the classic Giacosa bouquet of dried rose petal emerges, rounding out this fabulous effort in grand style. The imposing tannins will require a measure of patience, but the 2007 Riserva is shaping up to be another magnificent, towering Barolo from Bruno Giacosa. Anticipated maturity: 2022-2042. (Feb 2011)"

96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "Mascarello’s 2007 Barolo flows from the glass with masses of round, enveloping fruit. This is an unusually soft, juicy Barolo from Mascarello that is remarkable for its textural richness and warm radiant fruit. The 2007 doesn’t have the aromatic complexity of the 2005 or 2006, but it makes up for that with its totally seductive personality. Crushed flowers, berries and sweet baking spices linger on a generous finish that evokes memories of the 1990. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. (Feb 2011)"
96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Mascarello presents an outstanding 2007 base Barolo (with fruit sourced from the Barolo and La Morra zones) that is packed extra tight with generosity, concentration and rich chocolate, cherry and leather aromas. The long finish is soft and velvety, but the tannins and acidity guarantee a long future ahead. (Sep 2011)"
93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(Cannubi and Le Rocche normally are the two largest components of this wine, which also includes San Lorenzo and Rue; from fruit mostly harvested in mid-September): Medium red. Expressive, delicate perfume of cherry, redcurrant and mint. Supple and aromatic in the mouth, with sexy flavors of red berries, flowers, truffle and underbrush. Finishes broad but juicy, with substantial sweet tannins and terrific length. This fruit had 30 to 40 days of skin contact. There's 14.9% alcohol here but I never would have guessed it. Hail in May in Cannubi cut the size of the crop. (Oct/Nov 2011)"

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$65 list] Pio Cesare and the 2007 vintage marry beautifully to produce a layered, opulent, textured, rich wine that is bursting with zesty red fruit, sassy spice, leather and toasted espresso bean. What really sets this wine apart is the dense smoothness of its texture. Save this bottle in your cellar 10 years or more. (Sep 2011)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$65 list] The 2007 Barolo is inviting, sweet and open, yet has plenty of underlying tannins to provide support. It shows terrific balance in a style that reconciles the traditionalist leanings of this bottling with the ripe quality of the year. Sweet hints of tobacco, spices, leather and herbs add complexity on the textured yet grippy finish. Pio Cesare’s straight Barolo doesn’t seem to get the attention or spotlight it deserves, but it has truly been one of Piedmont’s under the radar jewels for some time. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2022. (Oct 2011)"
92 points James Suckling: "I drank a couple of bottles of 2007 Pio Cesare Barolo in two different restaurants while I was in Seoul for the last five days. They were both traditional Korean restaurants: Korean House and Son Soo Hun. The food was everything from a broad selection of Kimchi (fermented cabbage) to barbecued ribs and Korean steak. Korean food is so clean and flavorful. It goes really well with European reds. I find it goes less well with high alcohol, off dry reds from the New World. The 2007 Pio Cesare Barolo went incredibly well with the grilled meat. It showed lots of bright fruit, from raspberries to plums, with hints of flowers and spices such as nutmeg as well as tar. The tannins were very ripe and soft textured making the young Barolo so very drinkable. (4/23/12)"
91 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good deep red. Very closed but pure nose offers currant, marzipan, mocha and a whiff of truffle. Quite sweet on the front half and almost surprisingly round and opulent. Then turns more dry and classic toward the back, finishing with serious, dusty, fine-grained tannins. This will need at least a few years of patience. (Oct/Nov 2011)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "[$65 list] This round red is full of sweet cherry and plum flavors, with hints of licorice and spices. The richness is offset by dense tannins, and there's a touch of heat on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2022. (11/15/11)"
'Best Buy' and 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Spicy and bright with red fruit flavor, this is underlined by nebbiolo’s sneaky tannins. They come on with an iron grip, then open to scents of roses. This is powered by alcohol, but well within the bounds of balance. Cellar it several years then decant for braised duck. (Dec 2011)"
5 stars (Decanter Award), 19/20 points Decanter: "Stunning, classic Nebbiolo aroma of rose, earth and a hint of slate and leather. Great sour cherry flavours and minerals. Complex, with great depth and balance. A hallmark Barolo. Surprisingly approachable, but should age well. Drink: 2015-2027. Alc: 14.5%. (Apr 2012)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Barolo Marenca boasts tons of richness and depth. Beautiful, well-delineated aromatics are woven throughout a core of expressive, racy fruit, adding lift and freshness. The Marenca is usually the biggest of the Baroli here, and the 2007 is definitely an extroverted wine, but is also beautifully balanced. Waves of fruit build effortlessly to the pulsating finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. (Oct 2011)"
92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "($74 list; from a steep, southwest-facing slope; aged half in large casks and half in tonneaux, 15% new): Good deep red. Blackcurrant, tobacco, tar, spices, cedar and licorice on the deep nose and palate. Suave on entry, then deep, sweet and impressively concentrated, with complementary oakiness. A large-scaled Barolo whose major tannins remain round and pliant, perhaps due to the aeration that takes place in the tonneaux. (Oct/Nov 2011)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2007 Barolo Margheria is superb. The vintage has smoothed out some of the more angular contours this wine tends to show when young, while not overpowering what remains a structured expression of Nebbiolo. Sweet dark cherries, tar, smoke, flowers, licorice and saline notes wrap around a radiant, energetic finish supported by plenty of grip. This is a fabulous wine from Giampaolo Pira. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. (Oct 2011)"
92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(aged in large oak barrels): Good dark red. Brooding, high-pitched aromas of blackberry, violet and menthol. Silky-sweet and rich on entry, then impressively intense in the middle, with penetrating dark fruit flavors offering excellent precision. Finishes very long and silky, with substantial ripe tannins and lovely lingering perfume. Seems sweeter and suaver than some past vintages of this wine. (Oct/Nov 2011)"
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Don’t even think of drinking this wine sooner than ten years from now. Those tight, nervous tannins need time to slowly unwind and the wine presents beautiful aromas of cassis and red cherry that will evolve with aging. At the back of it all are steady tones of spicy tobacco and leather. (Sep 2011)"
