Bele Casel is a small, artisanal winery which makes its Prosecco with fruit grown in the subdistricts of Santo Stefano and Sacol, largely considered the best source of Prosecco in the Valdobbiadene region. Extra dry.
87 points Fine Wine Review: "I continue to search in the U.S. for the charming, insouciant, slightly sweet, low alcohol Prosecco that I have become accustomed to in Italy. For the most part, I keep running into Champagne wannabes. For the time being, this is the closest I have come to the holy grail. This wine is offdry with both the austerity of a fine sparkling wine and the pear fruit of Prosecco, and the slightest bit of creaminess in texture. (Issue #118; 2007)"

Producer notes: "A slightly effervescent, sweet red wine with low alcohol (5.5%), made from one of the most appealing aromatic grapes, the Malvasia di Schierano. It is characterized by a very unusual marriage of freshness, weight, and aromatic complexity. Wild red berry fruit is gloriously evident on the nose, along with fascinating hints of blossoms, particularly wisteria and iris. Served well chilled, it is ideal with any sweet or dessert as well as with fresh fruit and petits fours."

Producer notes: "Light but abundant bubbles with long lasting 'perlage'. Intense straw-yellow, nearly golden color. Aromatic, complex and intense. On the palate, sweet, pleasantly acidulous, with a long lingering flavor, round, bodied and velvety. An excellent dessert wine, it perfectly accompanies strawberries, cooked peaches filled with macaroons, jam tarts or hazelnut cakes."

Producer notes: "Sourced predominately from the Friuli Venezia Giulia with a portion from Trentino and the Colli Euganei in the Veneto. Lovely aromas of peach, apricot and mandarin orange entice the nose, while the slightly off-dry palate has bright acidity to make this wine so refreshing. Alcohol 8.25%."

Viticulture at Forteto della Luja goes beyond organic. The soils are worked by horse, fermentations occur naturally by way of the 'mother' yeast. Since 2003 the winery has been 100% solar powered -- the only of its kind in Piemonte. The 'Piasa San Maurizio' vineyard is where Brother and sister Giancarlo and Silvia's great grandfather planted vines some 90 years ago. Gianni produces his Moscato d'Asti following 'old-time' methods; the objective is fresh fruit and aromas that caress you enough to jump in the glass. This single-vineyard Moscato exudes generous aromatics of sage, elderflower, white peach and fresh melon, which complement a rich, vanilla midpalate with acidity that refreshes. Organic single-vineyard Moscato as you've never had.

88 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(disgorged in March of 2011, less than five grams per liter of residual sugar): Pale bright yellow. Pretty floral nose with a leesy complexity. Lemony and young but showing a creamy leesy quality to go with suggestions of ripe stone fruits. Sound, harmonious acidity extends the dusty finish of this youthful, cool wine. (Oct/Nov 2011)"
Producer notes: "Straw-yellow color with swift foam of tiny and persistent bubbles. Fruity notes, yeast and biscuits are perceived in the nose. Plentifulness and softness are revealed in its dry flavor."

Pale coral in color. Bouquet is rich, complex, elegant, remarkably light and airy, with notes of wild strawberries and cherry, with hints of pineapple, brioche and rosemary. In the mouth, the attack is very energetic, very dry and incisive. Very well balanced acidity, with a long finish.

90 points and 'Top 100 Wine of 2007 (#75)' Wine Spectator: "A delicate, well-balanced Prosecco, showing a good blend of baked apple, sour lemon and grapefruit, with a lightly creamy mineral texture on the palate. Medium froth, with some body and a pleasant lemon and mineral finish. Best Values. (4/30/07)"
Wall Street Journal: "This was one of the fruitiest and one of the most aromatic of the group--marked by notes of melon and citrus. 'A good breakfast Prosecco,' said Le Bernardin wine director Aldo Sohm. (6/12/10)"

90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The NV Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Rustico is a rather exuberant yet steely, powerful Prosecco. White peaches, crushed rocks, smoke and flowers are some of the nuances that flow from this large-scaled, important Prosecco. A rich, textured finish rounds things out nicely. The Rustico is far from an easy-going cocktail wine, and is sure to be better at the table than on its own. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013. (Feb 2011)"
90 points Wine & Spirits: "Crisp apple flavors carry through this clean, vinous Prosecco, lending it the freshness of mountain snow and edelweiss. It's simple, focused along a tight stream of bubbles. A fine aperitif. (Aug 2011)"
Wall Street Journal: "This clean, bright, fairly light-bodied and very dry Prosecco is elegance in a glass. It's as close to Champagne--at this price--as Prosecco will get. A unanimous favorite. (6/12/10)"

Not yet reviewed; 2011 vintage rated 90 points by Wine Advocate: "Saracco’s 2011 Moscato d’Asti wraps around the palate with serious depth and richness. Green apples, pears and white flowers flow through to the expressive, nuanced finish. Like most wines of the vintage, the 2011 is richer than normal, but there is no shortage of personality or pure class here. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014."
Gambero Rosso: "The Saraccos are moscato makers par excellence in a territory long favourable to this variety. Paolo tends the vineyards, distributed across various plots in the municipality of Castiglione Tinella, and produces very good wines... classic... floral Moscato d'Asti..."

The same Prosecco that's poured at Osteria Mozza.
90 points Wine & Spirits: "There's a hint of complexity in the interplay between this wine's gentle sweetness and crisp acidity, like biting into a freshly picked ripe pear. It's lean and focused, a match for warm goat cheese on crostini. (Dec 2009)"
89 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$19 list] The NV Extra Dry Prosecco di Valdobbiadene from Sorelle Bronca shows off lovely varietal character and a crisp, refreshing finish laced with green apples and flowers. This is Lot 0155. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2012. (Feb 2011)"
88 points Wine Enthusiast: "There's a soft, creamy element to the nose of this Extra Dry Prosecco that is surrounded by pretty aromas of peach, melon and passion fruit. The mouthfeel is rich, foamy and smooth. abv: 11%. (12/31/11)"
San Francisco Chronicle: "Sisters Antonella and Ersilana Bronca founded this winery in the mid-1980s. More residual sugar makes this wine definitely off-dry. Sweeter aromas and flavors - ripe grapefruit, apple and pear - in this well-made wine will appeal to those who prefer the style. (5/3/09)"

90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The estate’s NV Extra Dry Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Particella 68 possesses both more richness and minerality than the Extra Dry. This is a decidedly rich style of Prosecco, with suggestions of peaches, apricots and flowers that are layered into an elegant, refined frame. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013. (Feb 2011)"
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Particella 68 is a particularly fine and focused Prosecco with delicate aromas of white flower and fresh peach. There's a touch of sweetness in the mouth that gives the perlage a thicker, smoother feel. abv: 11%. (12/31/11)"

Producer notes: "Muscat grapes have been grown in the Colli Euganei since ancient times, and still today Muscat is the most widely planted white grape variety in the region. As a variety, the white or Canelli Muscat has a thin skin, and in favorable years the cluster can shrivel easily on the vine, producing a rich wine. Our late harvest Muscat is naturally sweet, it is packed with floral scents of rose and has a long finish with flavor of tropical fruit. It accompanies desserts, and pairs particularly well with fruit-based ones."
Gambero Rosso: "Vignalta was the first estate to promote the Colli Euganei around the world and is still the leading winery for the designation today. Vignalta's strength lies primarily in its extensive vineyards: over 50 hectares on the best slopes of the Colli Euganei national park, where all varieties are suitably situated and the most favourably aspected areas have their own labels... 88 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The NV Prosecco Brut is a richer, creamier wine than the Brut Cuvee Private. Here the fruit tends towards ripe yellow peaches, with flowers, spices and minerals that add complexity. The finish is long, generous and nicely balanced. (Aug 2010)"
