90 points Wine Spectator: "[$27 list] This supple, complex and enticingly ripe red features a mix of citrus, spice, smoke, dried berry and cherry tart flavors. The long finish shows sandalwood notes, with hints of mincemeat and touches of cream. Ends on a briary note. Xinomavro. Drink now through 2018. 300 cases imported. (2012)"
Producer notes: "100% Xinomavro. The 'Grande Reserve' designation is only granted to wines that are barrel aged for at least two years, and then bottle aged for at least two additional years. The barrel aging allows the complexity of the Xinomavro grape to fully show through. Aroma: Cinnamon, dry fig and red fruits combined with complex spices. Taste: Well structured, full-bodied and balanced with intense flavor and a long cinnamon and smoked nuts finish. Although ready to drink now, the wine will continue to develop in the cellar for 12-15 years. Serve with red meat, spicy sauces and yellow cheeses. Alcohol 13%."

Producer notes: "80% Roditis, 20% Malagousia. Petra 2011 is a dry white wine with a rich yellow color and greenish tints. It is a nice, crisp, fresh white wine with a lemon character, citrus peel flavors and a remarkable acidity which is balanced by the intense aromatic character and its beautiful round finish. A great summer wine. Alcohol 12.8%. Food pairing: Seafood, pasta, salads."
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 88 points by Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Petra, a Roditis, is a wine I’ve come to like a lot for its purity, consistency and perky, refreshing demeanor. In its youth, this version is another charmer, aromatic, bright and lively, a sunny wine with well integrated crispness, some delicacy, but fine persistence of flavor as well. It is rather delicious and showed beautifullly... Drink now-2013."

Producer notes: "Grape Variety : Black of Kalavryta. Vivid ruby color, cherry, stawberry and leather flavors. Gentle with integrated tannins and attractive finish. A perfect accompaniment to baked fish with red sauce, pastas, light meats. Age up to five years."
WHWC staff notes: "Their economy may be in the dumps, but their wine production is experiencing an absolute renaissance. In fact, we're living through the golden revival of Greek wine production (seriously!). Over the last few years, we've embarked on a mission to beef up our Greek wine department and we're coming across wines that not only surprise for being Greek, but are every bit as good and distinctive as any wines from around Europe. And for the most part, they're cheap. This odd little grape hails from the northwestern Peloponnese where it is known locally as Mavro Kalavrytino. This is the type of red wine that improves with just a mild chill and is a perfect accompaniment to baked fish with red sauce, pastas, and light meats. It drinks like a hypothetical cross between a Loire Cabernet Franc and a Nebbiolo-based Langhe Rosso. It's a perfect mid-week or Sunday red. And every bottle purchased is like a stimulus package for the Greek economy. Let's do our part to help our favorite vacation destination!" - Kaj Stromer

Organically farmed. White yellow color. Rich in fruity aromas with a delicate palate. Bright and guzzlable, this inexpensive white is pretty, with lots of apple and bergamot.
Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 89 points by Wine Enthusiast: "Made from the rose-colored, elegant Roditis, this wine offers a polished, floral nose rich in white flowers, pineapple and citrus, and a clean, mineral-driven character laced with floral, delciate notes. A unique and subtle white that will pair well with lighter fare and grilled seafood."

The finest Moschofilero wines come from the region of Mantinia in Greece, at an altitude of over 2,000 feet. Moschofilero grapes have a pink colored skin and therefore produce a wine that can have a slight pink/gris color. Its crisp character and beautiful floral aroma of roses and violets with hints of spices can be enjoyed as an aperitif but the wine shines with food due to its rich, complex flavors and refreshing acidity. Complex, intense aromas of tropical fruits, figs and citrus. There is a dry, floral minerality that frames this complex nose. Lots of citurs fruit on the mid-palate leading to a clean, crisp, minerally finish.

Young farmer and oenologist, Christos Zafeirakis, obtained valuable work experience in Northern Italy, before returning to Greece to produce his own wine. The thick-skinned Limniona variety has a remarkable resistance to oxidization, so it is suited to long-term ageing. The grapes were initially fermented in a large wooden vat and then aged in second and third fill French oak barriques. Vivid medium-dark color. Blossoms into a fruited spice and a hint of herbs. Creamy, classy and lacey, and despite a hot vintage, presents refreshing acidity.
