Hansjörg Rebholz was chosen "Wine Maker of the Year 2002" by the German Wine Guide Gault-Millau, and according to Gault-Millau sits alone at the top of the Pfaz region as the top estate.
2007 vintage rated 91 points by Wine Enthusiast: "This has a distinctive mineral personality, feeling stony and stern under the velvety, cherry-like aromas. It gains complexity from hints of game and brown spice, showing a fine balance from start to finish."

92 points Fine Wine Review: "The Pechstein is drier with acidity and some white fruit, but it is relatively closed as I taste it, although there is intense yellow and white peach fruit starting to come out. (Issue #129; 2010)"
91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$55 list] Slightly fuller and marginally lower in acidity than most of this year’s von Buhl Grosse Gewachse, the 2008 Forster Pechstein Riesling Grosses Gewachs displays in spades the saline, briny and pungently herbal characteristics for which this site is known. Some experienced tasters might call it excessively reduced, but this particular pungency -- however it’s chemically transmitted -- and in this instance its suggestions of sage, lavender, pennyroyal, and citrus zest, are part and parcel of Pechstein. A palate-coating, high-glycerin impression as well as one of primary citrus and pit fruit juiciness transparent to myriad mineral nuances keeps this from seeming spare. Furthermore, the energy, lift, and saliva-inducing savor typical of the vintage stick with this wine all the way -- and probably for the next decade. (Feb 2010)"

89 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$17 list] The von Buhl 2009 Riesling Maria Schneider -- this vintage representing an assemblage from several sites -- features kiwi, white peach, and sweet corn with a dusty crushed stone note as well as invigorating salinity in its finish. Twelve grams of residual sugar -- less than usual for this bottling -- suit it perfectly, amplifying the lusciousness of the fruit without engendering any sense of overt sweetness. Slim and refreshing yet with a fine sense of underlying extract and a subtly silken feel, this fine value represents the best installment of its cuvee that I can recall. Enjoy this over the next 3-4 years. (Feb 2011)"
88 points Wine Spectator: "[$17 list] There's a crisp citrus twist to the Bosc pear, apple and spice flavors, with good length on the firm finish. Drink now through 2014. (12/31/10)"
88 points Fine Wine Review: "The Maria Schneider medium dry is fruity but tastes relatively dry (12 g/l residual sugar here -- less than in the past). The wine is silky and mineral. (Issue #131/132; 2011)"

93+ points Fine Wine Review: "The Forster Jesuitengarten Spätlese is spicy in the nose, but still quite circumspect. In the mouth, the wine is medium-sweet and medium-full with spicy fruit -- a classic from this great vineyard. (Issue #131/132; 2011)"
91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$40 list] Von Buhl pulled way back on the residual sugar in their 2009 Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Spatlese compared with other recent vintages, and the result is more than sweet enough to support both its decadent, musky floral perfume of peony and heliotrope and its very ripe peach fruit, yet discreet enough to be well-balanced even for immediate consumption. Peach kernel, green herbs, salt, and crushed stone all serve for fascinating counterpoint, and a soothingly creamy texture is allied to refreshing primary juiciness and lift. This ought to delight for at least a dozen years; though I am not convinced it is structured for longer-keeping. (Feb 2011)"
Rudi Wiest Selections: "The nose is an exciting mix of white peach fruit, with darker black licorice notes. Interestingly the wine doesn't have quite the residual sugar you'd expect for Pfalz Spätlese (only 41 gm/l), so it's well delineated and delicate in form. There are peach and orange flavors on the palate with an undercurrent of brown sugar. The wine shows very well, and is easily one of our favorite Spätlesen of the vintage."

David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "Winter’s basic generic 2008 Riesling trocken -- bottled in liters for short-term enjoyment -- is low-toned and herbal in a manner that reminds me of the corresponding Silvaner. A sense of creaminess suggests a hint of malo-lactic transformation (though, as Winter notes, not by design) yet this still satisfies with an ample sense of refreshment. Furthermore, given its amazingly low price, it constitutes very good value. (Feb 2010)"
Bill Mayer (The Age of Riesling): "...Stefan says, bubbling over with enthusiasm, that it’s the best one he’s ever made, and he’s pretty trustworthy..."
