89-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "Mild reduction detracts only mildly from the red and black pinot fruit that also displays a subtle hint of crushed herbs. The dusty and sappy middle weight flavors are supported by very fine tannins and good richness on the long and mouth coating finish. There is a bit more mid-palate concentration here compared to the Les Plantes and Feusselottes. Drink: 2017+. (Jan 2012)"

90 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(Amiot-Servelle is one of only two proprietors). This is quite ripe, indeed to the extent of having mocha and cassis aromas that manage to retain a reasonable sense of freshness. The suave, round and delicious middle weight flavors are quite textured as here too there is ample dry extract that renders the firm tannins almost invisible on the mouth coating yet slightly bitter finish where a hint of wood toast surfaces. In contrast to the villages Chambolle however, there appears to be enough extract present to allow the tannins to round out and thus my score offers the benefit of the doubt. Drink: 2016+. The nicely rich and round flavors possess good volume and this too offers a supple and silky mouth feel on the delicious, balanced and persistent finish. This is not quite as refined as the Feusselottes but displays a bit more complexity. A qualitative choice. Drink: 2016+. (Jan 2012)"

There is a touch of the sauvage to the round, generous and fleshy medium weight plus flavors that possess good size and weight before culminating in a well-detailed, complex and lingering finish. Drink: 2019+. (Apr 2013)"
Producer notes: "One of the first plots along the 'Route des Grands Crus', on the Morey side which is also entitled to the appellation of Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru. On the nose, nearly candied, develops strong aromas of black fruit. This appellation always displays a strong density due to the small loose clusters able to mature easily. This wine is aptly named due to its very rich tannins and a slightly sweet taste at mid-palate."

This is very Clos St. Denis in character with its combination of finesse and taut muscularity and the overall impression is one of contrast, which is to say a broad-scaled wine of finesse. As expressive as this is today I got the distinct sense that this is going to close down hard in the near future and will also require extended cellaring before it's again ready for prime time. 90-93 points Fine Wine Review: "The estate acquired the Latricières-Chambertin from Domaine Newman. The vines are 53 years old. The wine shows fresh raspberry fruit in the nose and some strawberry and black fruit in the mouth with good nervosity. (Issue #128; 2010)"
90-92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(Lachaux purchased just over a half-hectare of 53-year-old vines from Christopher Newman) Good medium red. Nose offers dark cherry, smoky oak and complex soil tones. At once dense and energetic, conveying an impression of rather strong energy from the combination of firm acids and underlying minerality. In a cooler, almost peppery style, with the wine's acidity carrying the finish. More austere than most of Lachaux's wines from Vosne-Romanee. (Mar/Apr 2010)"

88-90 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 4 different parcels in Brochon). This is also quite ripe yet the nose remains fresh, complex and is almost elegant in style with its aromatic profile of floral, black cherry and cassis notes. The earthy middle weight flavors brim with dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the fleshy and delicious finish. Comments: Outstanding. Drink: 2014+. (Jan 2011)"
88-90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Cote de Nuits-Villages is another rich, explosive wine. This shows notable intensity, although most of the wine’s appeal is in its up-front juiciness. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (May 2011)"
89+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Tasting a wine such as Denis Bachelet’s Côte de Nuits Villages really makes one wonder why Brochon continues to not have its own appellation? Surely there are several examples of Côte de Nuits Villages from Brochon that are more serious wines than even the best examples from Maranges, so why has the AOC not deigned to grant this village its own appellation? In any case, the 2009 Côte de Nuits Villages from Monsieur Bachelet is really superb, with the inherent elegance of the vintage very much in evidence here on both the nose and palate. The bouquet is a lovely mélange of cassis, grilled meats, espresso, Gevrey-like black minerality and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very long, with suave tannins, lovely focus and excellent length and grip on the finish. Classy juice. 2014-2035. (Nov/Dec 2010)"

92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Les Corbeaux was the second to last in the cellar to finish its malolactic fermentation, as it just edged out the Gevrey V.V. by finishing up on September 7th. Nevertheless, the wine was showing very well during my visit, as it offers up a fine bouquet of black cherries, cassis, bitter chocolate, grilled meats, a touch of new oak and a very complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely reserved, with fine mid-palate depth, impressive soil inflection, tangy acids and a bit of tannin that will need to resolve before this wine starts drinking well. A very fine vintage for these old vines. 2018-2040. (Nov/Dec 2009)"
91-92 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "Fresh blackberry, wild fennel and medicinal concentration of wormwood and other herbs scent Bachelet’s 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux, putting me in mind of Morey-St.-Denis (though Corbeaux is not located at that end of Gevrey). This is texturally even more promising and incipiently plush -- for all of its brightness of fresh fruit -- than was the corresponding village wine; in fact, it’s also strikingly viscous, in a way that reinforces its medicinal aura. And believe me: you are going to want to take this medicine! A range of dark forest floor and mineral shadings, notably peat and small game add further complexity to a gripping yet buoyant and refreshing finish. This dark, bittersweet ball of energy should remain successfully aloft for 12-15 years and probably not hit its optimum orbit until halfway through then. (Jun 2010)"
90-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(also from 60 to 70 year old vines). A perfumed if somewhat sauvage nose features a complex and expressive aromatic profile of red and blue pinot fruit, humid earth and black cherry notes where the earthiness very much infuses the rich, serious and impressively concentrated medium weight flavors that possess excellent detail on the robust, balanced and mouth coating finish. Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding. Drink: 2016+. (Jan 2010)"
90-92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(30% new oak) Deep red-ruby. Medicinal aromas of black fruits and licorice. Dense and ripe but cool, with a distinctly masculine quality to the brooding flavors of blackberry, licorice and bitter chocolate. This very solidly built, firmly tannic and long wine will need at least five years of cellaring. (Mar/Apr 2010)"

90-93 points Fine Wine Review: "...Overall production is about 20-30% below normal, about the same as in 2007. Qualitatively, though, the results show yet another year of excellent wines... The Chambolle shows more weight than the Bourgogne with a satiny texture and red and dark berry fruit. Very fine tannins. (Issue #128; 2010)"
91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Chambolle AC had finished up its malo a bit earlier than some of the other wines in the cellar and had been racked on September 4th, and consequently was really singing in November. The bouquet is deep, pure and perfumed, as it offers up scents of cherries, orange zest, pungent roses, pomegranate and a complex base of chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and sappy, with great purity, lovely midpalate depth, fine-grained tannins and a very stylish, tangy and long finish. A very high class villages! 2016-2035. 90 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2009 Chambolle villages from Madame Barthod is a dynamite example of the vintage and a wine that I will certainly be trying to add to my own cellar. The nose is deep, pure and classic, as it jumps from the glass in a lovely mix of red and black cherries, fresh herb tones, raw cocoa, lovely soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and sappy at the core, with a great signature of soil, fine-grained tannins, tangy acids and excellent length and grip on the classy finish. I would tuck this lovely AC away for four or five years to let its secondary layers of complexity emerge, but it is going to be hard not to drink early on, as it is so beautifully balanced that its moderate tannins are not going to put up much resistance. Great juice. 2014-2035. (Nov/Dec 2010)"
88-91 points Fine Wine Review: "The Chambolle is pure and mineral with dark and red fruits in the nose. In the mouth, the wine shows less power than the Bourgogne, although it is still fairly powerful, with dark fruit and some minerality. (Issue #130; 2011)"
87-90 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 11 different parcels totaling 1.5 ha, scattered all around Chambolle). An ultra fresh, airy, pure and high-toned red pinot fruit nose slides gracefully into detailed and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that culminate in a dusty, mouth coating, balanced and linear finish. This is a classically styled Chambolle of finesse. Drink: 2014+. (Jan 2011)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2009 Beaux Bruns is a stunning wine in the making and clearly one of the best Chambolle premier crus that I tasted on this trip. The bouquet is deep, pure and really vibrant, as it soars from the glass in a sappy mélange of plums, black cherries, raw cocoa, woodsmoke, intense violets and a stunningly complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and very soil-driven, with the great core of fruit wrapped in beautiful terroir. The finish is very, very long, with ripe tannins, excellent focus and grip and beautiful, nascent complexity on the backend. A beautiful bottle of wine that will richly deserve six or seven years of bottle age before broaching, just to let it really cut loose on the nose and palate. 2016-2040. (Nov/Dec 2010)"
90-94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Chambolle-Beaux Bruns is the first vineyard that Barthod harvested, as it always seems to mature faster than the others. The wine is powerful with mineral dark fruits and a hint of licorice. There is no heaviness here, and it seems to be a particularly successful vintage for this cuvée at Barthod. (Issue #130; 2011)"
'Outstanding' and 90-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .75 ha parcel of 50+ year old vines). This is notably riper with aromas of warm earth, spice and red and blue fruit liqueur that merge into rich, generous and quite plump medium-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate fat and a long and delicious finish. This is not the most complex wine in the range but it is very Chambolle in basic character. Drink: 2017+. (Jan 2011)"

91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2006 Chatelots chez Barthod is a bit fuller than the lovely village bottling, and also a bit more fruit-driven. The nose is quite lovely, as it offers up a perfumed mélange of rd plums, black cherries, cocoa, floral tones and a discreet touch of soil. On the palate the wine is medium-full and a bit more closed than the AC, with a nice core of fruit, moderate tannins, sound acids and nice shape and grip on the finish. This will be a lovely bottle and should drink very well with three or four years of bottle age. 2012-2035. (Nov/Dec 2007)"

The wine is light in color and in texture. There’s more breadth here than in the village wine, but it still is light and lacy with red fruits, and a silky texture that flows across the palate. (Issue #128; 2010)"
90 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(a 1 ha blend of Groseilles, Baudes, Noirots and Gruenchers, which interestingly are all bunched together, geographically speaking). Here the nose is notably more complex but also more reserved with equally pure and lightly-spiced mineral-suffused red berry fruit aromas that complement the delicate and lacy light to medium-bodied flavors that are also very Chambolle in character. The excellent Chambolle is lovely and pure with red cherry fruit and finesse, overall laciness, and a silky texture. This wine should drink well young. (Issue #128; 2010)"

On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very suave on the attack, with sappy core of fruit, ripe, fine-grained tannins and outstanding length and grip on the tangy and very complex finish. 16.5/20 points Michel Bettane (The World of Fine Wine): "Delcious racy nose, with ancient rose undertones; very good colour for a village Savigny and winemaking with a good proportion of whole berries. Long and harmonious. (Issue #35; 2012)"

Black cherry and raspberry aromas precede rich, full and sweet flavors underpinned by notably finer tannins but interestingly, this is actually less complex than the Gevrey villages. 93 points and 'Don't miss! Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 4 ha parcel). Noticeable though not overt wood influence sets off a very ripe nose composed of liqueur of plum, cassis and wild raspberry aromas. There is excellent richness to the round and relatively powerful medium weight flavors blessed with an abundance of dry extract that buffers the otherwise very firm, long and serious finish. This is also notably austere and extremely compact at present and as such it seems reasonably clear that it will not be a good candidate for early drinking. Drink: 2020+. (Apr 2012)"
91-94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Beaune-Grèves, Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus (what I tasted was probably to be the final selection) is somewhat oaky in the nose, but not overly so, and there are spice aromas, too. The mouth is silky (which comes from the oldest vines, almost 60 years) with medium weight and elegance. The flavors are red fruits with some minerality, and there is good acidity to the wine. (Issue #137; 2013)"
90-92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Bouchard’s flagship bottling of l’Énfant Jésus is really excellent, and I can only imagine how this kind of purity of fruit and soil is going to show when not encumbered next year by such spicy oak. The 2010 offers up a superb nose of red and black cherries, currants, coffee, incipient notes of sous bois, a touch of game, soil and spicy new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and shows off outstanding purity on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, tangy finish that shows just a bit more oak spice than would be ideal. The raw materials here this year are absolutely stunning, and I have little doubt that this wine has the depth of fruit to eventually absorb its wood, but it will always have that telltale touch of Pain Épice. 2020-2060. (Jun 2012)"
91 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright medium red. Musky, sauvage aromas of red cherry, cherry skin, game and leather. Rich and full, offering considerable fat to its ripe flavors of redcurrant, musky herbs, smoke and game. Finishes with round, dusty tannins, a hint of menthol and very good length... (Mar/Apr 2013)"
91 points Wine Spectator: "[$100 list] A spice-infused red, with a cherry core. Dense and well-structured, picking up savory and mineral elements on the finish. The tight structure needs time to resolve. Best from 2016 through 2030. 300 cases imported. (4/30/13)"

There is fine depth of material here and while this is somewhat awkward today, I see no reason why this shouldn't be excellent in time. Drink: 2024+. (May 2011)"
91-94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Chapelle-Chambertin in both nose and mouth is stony -- one can taste the stones here. The wine is medium-weight with pure dark fruit flavors. The wine is a little austere for the moment, but that’s what I expect from Chapelle-Chambertin. (Issue #130; 2011)"

94 points and 'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A brooding but impressively complex nose features notes of red currant, plum, earth and plenty of that Corton sauvage character. The textured, intense and broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration with fully mature structural elements. There is ample buffering sap, which is important as one would reasonably expect, this is a big and sleekly muscled wine with an explosively long, linear and overtly austere finish. The potential here is mostly impressive though note that plenty of patience is requisite. Drink: 2025+. (Apr 2012)"
92-94 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(aging in two-thirds new oak): Dark red. Black fruits, flowers, minerals and licorice on the vibrant nose, plus a whiff of truffle; I would have picked this blind as a Cote de Nuits wine. Dense, sappy and sweet but with a light touch and excellent definition thanks to its firm underlying minerality. At once delicate and strong, finishing spicy and long, with a flavor of crunchy berries. Not an earthy style of Corton. (Jan/Feb 2012)"

91-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A notably ripe yet elegant and admirably pure nose features both hints of stone and earth that can also be found on the detailed, precise and energetic middle weight flavors that possess relatively fine tannins and excellent length. There is good buffering sap and I very much like the balance of this classy effort. Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding. Drink: 2021+. (May 2011)"
