Amiot-Servelle produces fruity wines in which balance and elegance prevail, and this 2010 vintage is no exception. Fresh and nicely aromatic. Expressive aromas of white flowers, brioche, hazelnut and a hint of vanilla. Nice amplitude in the mouth, with a lovely intensity of white flowers, hazelnut, pear and vanilla. Elegant and refined, this Bourgogne blanc offers a harmonious balance, a hint of minerality and a very pleasant finish.

88 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A lightly spiced nose of red and blue pinot fruit has its expressiveness reduced by noticeable reduction so be sure to decant this if you're going to try one young. The lacy, pure and round mineral-inflected flavors are forward and very supple, all wrapped in a dusty, delicious and mouth coating finish. This notably pretty effort is very Chambollesque in character. Drink: 2017+. (Apr 2013)"
Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy): "This domaine is run by Christian Amiot (one of the sons of Pierre Amiot from Morey-St-Denis) who is married to Elisabeth Servelle, daughter of Bernard Servelle-Tachot... The domaine has been farmed organically from 2003, with AB certification from the 2008 vintage. The wines taste fresh and modern although there is no great reliance on oak--20 per cent new wood is used for the village wine, and up to 50 per cent for the two top premiers crus... (2010)"
Clive Coates (The Wines of Burgundy): "Quality has improved... The wines now are very good, indeed. (2008)"

The dusty and sappy middle weight flavors are supported by very fine tannins and good richness on the long and mouth coating finish. There is a bit more mid-palate concentration here compared to the Les Plantes and Feusselottes. Drink: 2017+. (Jan 2012)"

The dense and quite seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess a silky mouth feel on the balanced and lingering finish where a hint of mineral character emerges. This is almost delicate and is an understated wine of finesse. Drink: 2017+. (Apr 2013)"

Allen Meadows (Burghound): "This also displays just a hint of reduction that serves to reduce the expressiveness of the nose though aggressive swirling liberates notes of reticent red currant, briar and wet stone. There is excellent verve to the middle weight flavors that exude mineral and soil tones before terminating in a quite finely detailed finish that lacks the same depth as the best here. Drink: 2018+. The nicely rich and round flavors possess good volume and this too offers a supple and silky mouth feel on the delicious, balanced and persistent finish. This is not quite as refined as the Feusselottes but displays a bit more complexity. A qualitative choice. Drink: 2016+. (Jan 2012)"

92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A cool, pure and restrained nose features notes of pungent earth, humus, underbrush, spice and freshly crushed red berries. There is a touch of the sauvage to the round, generous and fleshy medium weight plus flavors that possess good size and weight before culminating in a well-detailed, complex and lingering finish. Drink: 2019+. (Apr 2013)"
Producer notes: "One of the first plots along the 'Route des Grands Crus', on the Morey side which is also entitled to the appellation of Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru. On the nose, nearly candied, develops strong aromas of black fruit. This appellation always displays a strong density due to the small loose clusters able to mature easily. This wine is aptly named due to its very rich tannins and a slightly sweet taste at mid-palate."

This is very Clos St. Denis in character with its combination of finesse and taut muscularity and the overall impression is one of contrast, which is to say a broad-scaled wine of finesse. As expressive as this is today I got the distinct sense that this is going to close down hard in the near future and will also require extended cellaring before it's again ready for prime time. 91-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Gevrey-Corbeaux had just about completed its malo when I tasted it. The wine has excellent depth, breadth, and length with fruit that is wild and dark. (Issue #134; 2011)"
'Outstanding' and 90-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "While the nose is mildly troubled by noticeable reduction, it's not so heavy that the solid ripeness of the fruit cannot be discerned. There is excellent size and weight to the medium-weight flavors that are blessed with fine phenolic ripeness of the supporting tannins on the very earthy, racy and firm finish. I very much like the intensity and underlying tension though note that this will require plenty of cellar time. Drink: 2022+. (Jan 2012)"
90-92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Pale, bright red. Very fine, pure aromas of red fruits and flowers. Pristine, fresh and airy but not currently showing the texture or nuance of Clavelier's wines from Chambolle-Musigny. A bit narrow on the finish but long. This very youthful wine was racked and sulfited a week before my visit and will need retasting in its finished form. (Jan/Feb 2012)"

94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Nuits-Cras, from the northern slope of Nuits that continues on to Vosne-Romanée, has an explosive nose with leather, small herbs, and dark cherry aromas. In the mouth, the wine is harder than the Combe d’Orveaux with dark fruit, elegance, and a lovely quality of filtering over the tongue. This wine, too, is approachable now, but may last to 2040, again with an interim closed period. (Issue #126; 2009)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "[$150 list] A rich, civilized Nuits, supple and packed with both red and black cherry notes and an underlying iron component. Lest you think it's easy, there's a firm structure and a hint of the feral, untamed side of the appellation. Fine length. Best from 2011 through 2022. 100 cases made. (2009)"
89-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(a superbly situated Nuits 1er in the Vosne sector that abuts Boudots). The first wine to display more than a touch of wood influence but here it's noticeable if not actually intrusive. An elegant nose of primarily red berry fruits laced with just a hint of the sauvage and obvious minerality leads to solidly concentrated and deep flavors that possess excellent energy and punch on the beautifully long finish. This is not exactly a wine of finesse but neither is it rustic and I very much like the intense limestone influence. Comments: Outstanding. Drink: 2013+. (Jan 2008)"
91 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "[$150 list] Good deep red. Expressive aromas of black cherry, licorice and smoky oak. Sweet, round and concentrated; in a more approachable, less tightly coiled style than Clavelier's wines from Chambolle and Vosne in '06, no doubt due to the sandier soil here. I find this much less medicinal than a barrel sample I tasted a year ago. Ripe, harmonious acidity and smooth tannins should give this wine considerable early appeal. (Mar/Apr 2011)"

91-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(a superbly situated Nuits 1er in the Vosne sector that abuts Boudots). A deft touch of wood sets off ultra refined and pure crushed red berry fruit aromas that give way to rich, detailed and precise medium-bodied flavors that like the Beaux Monts are almost aggressively mineral in character but here the explosive finish is both linear and austere and clearly in need of time. This will not be for everyone but the intensity, focus and precision on the detailed finish are beautiful, especially given the wonderful sense of underlying tension. A stunner. Sweet spot Outstanding! Drink: 2015+. (Jan 2009)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "[$117 list] There's loads of bilberry, raspberry, floral, spice and mineral aromas and flavors in this elegant red. Beautifully balanced, expressive and supple in texture. 91-94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Pommard-Pézerolles displays cedar aromas, often a marker of Pézerolles. The nose shows dark syrup fruit, especially blueberry and blackberry, and an overall impression of elegance, finesse, and freshness. Up to here, the wines have been 25% new oak. (Issue #133; 2011)"
91-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(33% stems). Like the Taillepieds, this is also highly perfumed with rose petal, fresh red berries, wet stone and an earthy component that can also be found on the equally mineral-inflected, cool and pure flavors that evidence excellent detail and real verve on the delicious, intense and persistent finish. A lovely and understated Pommard of finesse. Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding. Drink: 2019+. (May 2011)"
91-93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(two-thirds vendange entier) Good bright, full red. Pungent, expressive aromas of cherry, blackberry, cassis, licorice and white flowers; offers lovely perfume for the year. Dense, clean and juicy, with the intense fruit flavors framed and enlivened by crushed stone and floral notes. Finishes long and aromatic, with suave tannins and a note of spicy oak. 96+ points Sonoma Wine Journal: "Violet robe. Exceptionally pure nose of spicy cherries, and with aeration the bouquet also shows notes of raspberries, iron, minerals, cinnamon, and flowers. The attack is all pure stalky Pinot fruits, still too young to fully enjoy but showing all the hallmarks of a great wine that simply needs time to evolve. Delicious and vibrant, the finely delineated tannins are enmeshed in the silken finish that lasts for nearly 60 seconds. Remarkable balance between the generous composition of fruit, acidity, tannins. For parents with children born in 2007 and who can afford this beauty, this would be an excellent Grand Cru Burgundy to cellar until your child's 21st birthday or other special occasions. From Laurent Ponsot. 13.5% alc. Drink now-2030. (Oct 2010)"

95-97 points Pierre Rovani (Wine Advocate): "Chocolate-covered black cherries can be discerned in the viscous aromas of the 2001 Charmes-Chambertin. This huge, medium to full-bodied wine has exceptional depth of fruit. Its personality displays a flavor profile reminiscent of cherry syrup-laced with vanilla beans. Ample, lush, and rich, its stupendous finish reveals waves of fruit and copious, exquisitely ripened tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. (Jun 2003)"
93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Deep ruby-red. Highly complex, soil-driven aromas of minerals, violet, smoked meat, animal fur and iron. Then powerful and perfumed in the mouth, with brisk acids framing the fruit. Possesses a mineral grip that reminds me of Chambertin. Offers a compelling combination of sheer strength and elegance. Finishes very long, with dusty, fine tannins. Impressive, but also harder to taste today than the young 2002. (Mar/Apr 2004)"
92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(6 1/2 barrels produced). Extremely ripe, forward, powerful and vigorous red fruit notes lead to gorgeously detailed, ultra precise, very classy, very full-bodied flavors that just ooze sap and richness on the compellingly long finish. This is a very powerful wine and certainly denser and richer than the Petite Chapelle but not necessarily more elegant or finer. Drink: 2011-21. (Jan 2004)"
19/20 points Clive Coates (The Wines of Burgundy): "Very full colour. Rich, full, concentrated and backward on the nose. Lots of substance here. Fullish body. Some tannin. Lots of depth. Very profound, intense fruit. Splendid finish. Very, very long. Even better than Bachelet's 2001 Charmes. (Apr 2006)"

95+ points Fine Wine Review: "The Bonnes-Mares is fairly closed in the nose, but spicy and dense with finesse in the mouth. Nevertheless, this is a wine that needs plenty of time. 2016-2060. (Issue #126; 2009)"
94 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good full, deep red. Pungent minerality, pepper and blueberry on the nose. Then sweet and bright in the mouth, with superb energy and thrust in the middle palate. This tactile and very long wine turns uncompromisingly dry on the brooding, palate-saturating finish. Very backward wine. This cuvee is now roughly a 50/50 blend of fruit from light and dark soils with the addition of vines on 'white soil' from the Thomas-Moillard purchase, notes Seysses, adding that 'this has pushed us more in a Roumier direction.' (Mar/Apr 2009)"
91-94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A beautifully nuanced and highly complex nose of mostly blue berry and cassis that is cool and pure slides seamlessly into surprisingly supple and relatively forward broad-shouldered flavors that possess even more depth than the nose, all wrapped into a finish supported by a firm tannic spine where the tannins are dense but fine. This is a first rate Bonnes Mares that will require plenty of time to reach its apogee because despite the accessible mid-palate, the finish is very tight. Drink: 2018+. (Jan 2008)"
93 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "Sweetly ripe black raspberry, pungently bitter-sweet herbal concentrate (bay, fennel, and horehound), buddleia perfume, and wood smoke vie for attention in the aromatic display of Dujac's 2006 Bonnes Mares. It exhibits a sweetness and concentration of primary fruit one rarely encounters in this vintage, yet it tones down the savagery of the site in its textural refinement and the sense of harmoniously entwined threads of fruit, herb, floral, and carnal flavors in a long finish that still doesn't lack for the "sizzle" of berry skin, citrus zest, and herbal bitter-sweetness. Where the corresponding Echezeaux displays vintage-typical virtues, this is something of an exception. I suspect it will also be exceptionally age-worthy in the context of its vintage, and probably worth following for at least a decade. (Dec 2009)"

90-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from both Charmes proper and Mazoyères). This is shut down tight with thick reduction blocking any reasonable evaluation of the nose though the relatively big and weighty flavors are concentrated, serious and solidly structured. This seems quite promising as the underlying material is impressive but note that this will not be a precocious example of Charmes. Drink: 2016+. (Jan 2008)"

93-95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The estate’s 2009 Volnay Clos du Chateau des Ducs saturates the palate with its deep, persistent fruit. The aromas and flavors build in the glass towards the rich, multi-dimensional finish. This shows marvelous staying power and fabulous overall balance. The Clos du Chateau des Ducs is more overtly fruit-driven and structured but perhaps a touch less aromatically expressive than the Mitans. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. (May 2011)"
91-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The nose of the Volnay-Clos du Château des Ducs is open and displays pure red fruits that continue into the mouth. The wine has plenty of weight and structure with excellent length. (Issue 133; 2011)"
94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 50+ year old vines; a monopole of the domaine). This is aromatically a bit less elegant than the Mitans but it is more complex with cool red and blue pinot fruit, violet, earth and stone nuances introducing attractively rich and equally pure middle weight flavors that exhibit real verve on the mouth coating and exceptionally persistent finish. As usual, this is a classic Volnay that is built to age and will need every bit of 12 to 15 years to be at its best. In short, this is a knockout. Drink: 2021+. (Apr 2012)"
93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2009 Clos du Château des Ducs is a beautifully reserved and elegant rendition of the vintage. The deep and classic nose delivers scents of cherries, blood orange, vinesmoke, fresh herb tones, a very complex base of soil and a topnote of cocoa. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, tight and very, very long on the backend, with impeccable balance, superb focus and impressive grip on the ripely tannic and youthful finish. This will be stellar in the fullness of time. 2020-2050. (Nov/Dec 2010)"

The bouquet is a red fruity and refined mélange of cherries, red plums, raw cocoa, fresh thyme, a touch of blood orange, stunningly complex soil tones and a nice touch of rose in the upper register. On the palate the wine is fullish, pure and very transparent, with a rock solid core of fruit, ripe tannins, tangy acids and excellent length and grip on the youthful and classy finish. 2015-2040. (Nov/Dec 2010)"
92 points Fine Wine Review: "The Volnay, vendanges sélectionnées is pure with structure underlying the red fruit. This should be excellent with perhaps 8-10 years in the cellar. (Issue #137; 2013)"
90-92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Volnay Vendanges Selectionnees is a selection of village-level parcels. This is a decidedly centered style of Volnay built on a solid core of fruit. It possesses plenty of mid-palate juiciness, while the fruit has enough sheer density to match the tannins on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2029. (May 2011)"

92 points Fine Wine Review: "The Meursault-Blagny Sous le Dos d'Ane is clear, pure, and smooth with finesse and subtle lime and minerality. The texture is silky and drawn. (Issue #133; 2011)"
91 points Wine & Spirits: "[$155 list] Bound up in its mineral intensity, this wine layers fossil-rich limestone with ginger and green apple brightness. The acidity is markedly high, giving a vibrant edge to all the toastiness and saline earthiness. This needs several years to settle into its structure, and it could prove to be great. (Apr 2011)"
90+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Meursault was the first wine in the cellar to finish up its malo this year and was showing very well in November. The nose on the’08 offers up a lovely mélange of lemon, delicious apples, chalky soil tones, a touch of orange, white flowers and a discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is fullish, complex and succulent, with good mid-palate depth, fine focus and lovely intensity and cut on the long backend. A lovely bottle. 2010-2025. (Nov/Dec 2009)"
90 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "($155 list; bottled three weeks before my visit) Bright yellow. Ripe stone fruits, grilled almond and vanilla on the nose, lifted by a spicy element. Good sweet, fleshy Meursault, conveying more precision and an impression of firmer acidity than the Puligny villages-perhaps a positive effect of the bottling. Finishes with very good length. I like this. (Sep/Oct 2010)"

This wine is made just like the Cerdon du Bugey, but only from Gamay grapes. Many people find the name rather confusing... what the heck does FRV100 mean? Actually, it is a brilliant play on words using phonetic pronunciations understandable to the average consumer. Here's how it works. The phonetic pronunciation of FRV 100 in English is EFF ARE VEE ONE HUNDRED. In French, it is EFF ERR VAY SON -- in other words EFFERVESCENT! That's right....this is sparkling Gamay made by méthode ancestrale!
88 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The FRV 100 is a sparkling Gamay made by Monsieur Brun that is finished off with a bit of residual sugar and is one of the most popular quaffing wines in France these days. The nose offers up a really pretty mélange of cherries, strawberries, orange zest and as touch of soil. On the palate the wine is medium-full, crisp and surprisingly long, with zesty mousse, a nice touch of sweetness and good focus and grip. This is really a delicious bottle of wine and I can fully understand its popularity in France- it would make an ideal aperitif. 2010-2012? (Jul/Aug 2010)"
