Producer notes: "70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The magnificent Château Cadillac was built in the 13th century. This very limited cuvée, created by the Lesgourgues family, is a medium-bodied wine that offers depth and elegance, with lovely fruit and spice notes. Ideal with roast, grilled meats and cheese. Alcohol 14%."

70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc. This family owned winery in Bordeaux is situated just outside of the famous appellation of St. Emilion. It offers more character than the average Bordeaux Supérieur beginning with the dense ruby color. The aroma follows with notes of red fruit and spice, followed by similar flavors of cherry and plum, with a note of tobacco and a long finish. Enjoy this elegant wine now with roast duck or other meat.

A blend of 60% Sémillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc from 35-year-old vines in the commune of Cérons. Sémillon fermented in new and 1-year-old French oak barrels and Sauvignon fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Left on lees for stirring using the oxoline system for six months. Sémillon aged for 6 months in new and 1-year-old French oak. 2010 was a year for freshness and clean floral aromas with a balanced level of acidity. As always, distinctive mineral characters typical of Graves terroir are in evidence. Bouquet consists of honey and citrus fruit. Sauvignon Blanc adds vivacity and floral aromas. Long considered the finest, privately-held château and vineyards of Graves.

Producer notes: "Our objective with Héritage du Seuil is not only to fully recognize the potential for certain parcels of fruit but also to produce a different more concentrated and complex style of wine. It is not our intention to produce this wine every year but rather when it is warranted by the strength of the pending vintage. The vines from which the grapes are selected are planted on a plateau of river gravel and sand deposits which has a sub soil of limestone, clay and iron pan. This plateau called 'Le Seuil' is over looking the Garonne River and enjoys all day sun. It is considered some of the best terroir in the Graves appellation. Yields are kept low at around 35-40 hectolitres/hectare by pruning and the canopy is managed to ensure good levels of ventilation around the grape zone and moderate sun exposure with deleafing. Barrel aged 18 to 20 months in 100% new French oak."

88 points CellarTracker: "Black pepper and generic red and black fruits with a hint of orange peel which is a nice touch. It has some aging potential. It will open up over the next ten years and should be drinkable for 20 but it won't be making any major improvements. Very basic Bordeaux but definitely a good value."

Made from approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, this red Bordeaux is fruity with soft integrated tannins giving a long fine aftertaste. Emphasis is on ripe fruit at harvest time, and consequently the bouquet is strong and full of character with a deep, intense color that takes on a brick-red tinge with age. Ready for drinking now but will store for at least 5-8 years.

Silky, melting tannins. Full bodied with good structure, balance and nice long finish. Perhaps the best value in Médoc wines today."

This wine comes from near the village of Soulignac. The general planting ratio is two-thirds old vine Semillon and one-third Sauvignon-Blanc. Château Haut-Rian is always seductive and brilliant: green-gold tinged with an aromatic fresh nose of newly cut hay, grapefruit and minerals. It delivers striking scents of lime and lemon rind, whiffs of honeydew and even a hint of seashells. And no taste of oak to be found, just 'pure play' dry white. Ideal as an aperitif, but works equally well with fish or shellfish.

Producer notes: "60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Lovely rich red in color, aromas of licorice, leather and ripe red fruits. On the palate it is fresh, with the red fruits and licorice following from the nose. Full bodied, harmonious and well structured with firm tanins, it is elegant yet powerful. A perfect match with roasted or grilled meats or game and of course with a nice ripe Camembert or Roquefort."

A dry white Bordeaux wine, made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc 40%, Sémillon 40% and Muscadelle 20%. This blend, based on ancient tradition, is rare in Bordeaux these days. Traditional winemaking : skin contact (50%), cool fermentation (16/18°C) in vat, and barrel-ageing on the lees for about 3 weeks, which makes the wine round, smooth, and fruity. This wine is ideal as an aperitif and with fish, seafood (oysters, mussels), or goat's cheese. Best enjoyed young (within 2 years of the vintage).

Deep royal purple in color, with an attack of raspberries and currants that fade into earthy notes of graphite, oak, dirt and cigar box. The wine is medium to full-bodied with youthful tannins, balanced acidity and a silky mouthfeel. The finish is moderately long with tannins and tartness gradually rising culminating in a lone note of potted earth. Considering its quality and reasonable price, this wine is a great value and should be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years.

WHWC Staff Notes: "After cranking out cases of the 1999 vintage, I was truly excited to see this favorite St.-Emilion return to the store. For those of you not familiar with Simard, it's important to note that this property shares the same ownership as the legendary Château Ausone. Historically, Château Simard has only produced one wine, which is bottled and aged in the cellar long before release. This gives the wine the time to develop its fragrance and for the flavors to develop complexity, nuance and finesse. Hence, we're currently selling the 2003 vintage. It is well aged and ready for drinking right now. After tasting it recently with some customers at our wine bar, I had to bring a bottle home to serve alongside my trusted crock-pot (beef, potatoes, and carrots). It has a brilliant ruby color with a ripe nose and silky finish. This vintage is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. If you're still hanging onto any misgivings about Merlot, you need to give this 10-year-old wine a try." - Mark Menchyk
Producer notes: "70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Brilliant ruby color with some brick tones. The nose has aromas of ripe, red fruit, plum jam and leather with a touch of cinnamon. In the mouth the wine is both silky and fleshy, with a full and round structure. This wine can be enjoyed with red meats, stews and grillade. It is well aged and ready for drinking now. Alcohol 12.5%."

Importer notes: "What sets this wine apart from so many others in the communie is the majestic Merlot. It forms nearly half of the blend. The vines grow in a small 'V'-shaped parcel that is unique for its siliceous soil, quite rich in oxides and mineral salts. Think pebbles as opposed to gravel. A fine medium for Merlot without a doubt. Zero fertilizer used in the vineyard. Add two sorting of the fruit to this and you've got some of the fines 'Left Bank' Merlot to blend with vigneronne Christelle Sorge's equally fine Cabernet. The Cabernet vines are planted in classic gravelly Margaux soil (of sand and clay) studded with the broken rocks that the locals call talus. Christelle's Cabernet balances vigor and strength with finesse. She ferments her Merlot and Cabernet separately in cement vats and then marries the two in casks averaging four years of age. Egg white fining, no filtration and bottled by gravity flow (no pumping). The 2009 is everything you could want it to be. The color pulses with purple, the perfume suggests spring fruit blossoms and the taste is of a time gone by...fruit and only fruit, not wood, heavy tannin or glycerin. Yes, Château Soussans 2009 is fruit forward and irresistible to drink."

40% Sémillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Muscadelle. This wine exhibits a lush and lovely purity which most from the appellation lack. Importer notes: "The Cabernet (80%) provides superb structure and ample fruit, all with natural acidity. The equal parts of Petit Verdot and Merlot amount to 10% each and can be viewed as the proper final 'salting' to a finely prepared dish. No 'fairy dust' used here. You'll find a striking color in the glass and a medley of rich fruits coming from the Cabernet: black currant, plum and juicy berries with a whisper of bay leaf and licorice to boot. The Petit Verdot gives a kiss of spiciness, while the Merlot lends a hint of black cherry. The tannins are elegant and pristine. Fermentation begins in cement vats, just as it did generations ago. Finished in 2-3 year barrels, all re-used from her Château Deyrem-Valentin in Margaux. Non-filtré. 'Back to the future' Grand Vin de Haut-Médoc à la Christelle Sorge."
