96 points Robert Parker: "The heady 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire is more evolved than either the 2001 or 1998. Extremely full-bodied, with low acidity, and a knock-out bouquet of blackberry and cherry jam intermixed with licorice, pepper, and dried Provencal herbs, this sexy, voluptuous, enormously concentrated 2000 possesses a huge, silky, seamless finish. Drink this irresistible effort now and over the next 12-15 years. The Cuvee Centenaire is one of the world's most compelling red wines. It is produced primarily from a plot of ancient (planted in 1889) Grenache vines (80% of the blend), and the rest younger vine Syrah (8%) and Mourvedre (12%), all aged 18 months in oak casks. It is tempting to say this is a modern-styled Chateauneuf du Pape. The use of barriques puts it in that category, but there is no noticeable new oak. This wine sucks up the oak like a sponge, but the wood provides structure and delineation. The Centenaire has been produced in 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, and 2001. My personal favorites are the 1998 and 1990, but the 1989 still has not hit full maturity. Moreover, the 2000 and 2001 are both prodigious efforts. Life's too short not to experience at least one bottle of Andre Brunel's Cuvee Centenaire! (Feb 2003)"
96 points Rhone Report: "A blend of 80% Grenache (from the Farguerol vineyard), 8% Syrah and 12% Mourvedre, the 2000 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Centenaire offers up perfumed notes of spice, leather and meat that are mixed with subtle garrigue, underbrush and kirsch fruit. In the mouth, the wine is full bodied with a fat, unctuous texture, low acidity, sweet fruit and a blockbuster finish. While still young, this is drinking extremely well. (Nov 2009)"

93 points Wine Spectator: "Lovely berry, spice and leather aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with firm and silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. A harmonious wine. Not quite what it was from barrel, but outstanding all the same. Racy Calon. Best after 2010. (3/31/03)"
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a solid, huge wine, with rich but very dry tannins. With its dense, almost black color, and its sense of brooding power, it promises long aging. It will never be in the opulent Bordeaux camp, despite its prominent new wood flavors, but will probably outlive all but a handful top wines. (Jun 2003)"
92 points Bettane & Desseauve's Guide to the Wines of France: "Expansive and almost exotic on the nose, with notes of eucalyptus and ripe bell peppers, held in check by a tight texture. Drink: 2011 up to 2020. (2011)"
91+ points Robert Parker: "Back when my bottle reports came out in 2003, I urged extreme patience for this wine, which is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. I projected a maturity curve of 2012-2040, but based on this tasting, I would say the wine needs another 5-6 years, so call it 2016-2040+. One of the most unyielding wines in my tastings of the 2000s, the wine still has a very healthy, deep, dark ruby color, and earthy hints of herbs, licorice, and black currants. Medium to full-bodied, the hard, elevated tannins give this wine a certain austerity, but its outstanding weight, richness, and that very classic style argue for further discipline. Forget this for another 3-4 years and drink it over the following three decades. (Jun 2010)"

Delivers mineral, black fruit, mocha, espresso, some smoke, all displayed in a modern package but without overt toasted oak accents. The balance between terroir and ripe fruit is really impressive. So refined, drink it now or hold for a couple of decades. Drink now through 2024. 1,025 cases made. (8/31/03)"

95 points Robert Parker: "A stunning wine from Ducru Beaucaillou which showcases its great terroir, this elegant but substantial 2000 has a dense purple color that has hardly budged since it was first bottled. Displaying a floral note, with hints of boysenberries, black raspberries, black currants and a touch of background oak, the wine has superb concentration and density, but still has some substantial tannins that are not yet fully resolved. I originally predicted that it should be drinkable from 2010-2030, but I would modify that now to 2015-2035. (Jun 2010)"
95 points Wine Spectator: "Fantastic aromas of blackberries, wild berries and minerals. Extremely aromatic. Full-bodied and very tight, with big, silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. Superb. A muscular Ducru. Best after 2010. (3/31/03)"
94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2000 vintage in Bordeaux is generally in a pretty sullen point of its evolution at the moment, but the 2000 Ducru-Beaucaillou was actually still showing a lot of charm and polish to its powerful veneer at our vertical tasting in Saarbrücken in late March. The bouquet is deep, ripe and classically pure in the Ducru style, offering up scents of cassis, black cherries, gravelly soil tones, tobacco leaf, a touch of dried herbs and still plenty of spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite sappy at the core, with modest acids, firm, ripe tannins, fine focus and nascent complexity and a very long, youthful and tannic finish that still needs a few more years to fully integrate its new wood component. This is still at least a decade away from blossoming and the real fireworks with this excellent vintage of Ducru will not start for another twenty years! A fine example. 2022-2075+. (May/Jun 2012)"

96 points Bettane & Desseauve's Guides to the Wines of France: "Exceptional in size and complexity, with profound body and impressive length. A great success. Drink: 2011 up to 2020. (2011)"
'Top 100 Wine of 2003 (#59)' and 95 points Wine Spectator: "Absolutely wonderful aromas of flowers, currants and citrus. Full-bodied, yet very, very refined, with a center core of fruit that tastes like crushed raspberries and goes on and on. Greatest wine from this estate since 1945. Best after 2010. (3/31/03)"
94 points Robert Parker: "A very strong effort for Gruaud Larose, possibly eclipsed by what they have done in 2009, this is a pure, full-bodied Gruaud Larose with plenty of new saddle leather, cedar wood, black currants, cherries, licorice, and Provencal herbs. Spicy, earthy, full-bodied, and rich, it has hit its plateau of full maturity, where it should stay for another 20 or more years. (Jun 2010)"
93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby. Liqueur-like aromas of roasted black raspberry, leather and grilled nuts. Lush, sweet and thick, with an almost unctuous texture and terrific volume. A wine of compelling sweetness and chewiness, not to mention sheer mouthfilling size. Finishes with huge, broad, sweet tannins and lingering notes of blackcurrant, coffee and leather. Classic, thoroughly ripe Gruaud-Larose. (May/Jun 2003)"
93 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "Do not ignore this Gruaud Larose: the best in recent years. That said, it is more introverted on the nose with blackberry, cedar, tobacco with just a hint of cassis that wants more attention. Good definition, then leather coming through with further aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, obdurate tannins, good grip, masculine with black fruits, cedar, graphite and cedar, leading to a foursquare finish that mellows wonderfully. Decant this for a couple of hours and you will be rewarded. Alternatively cellar it for several more seasons. Drink 2014-2030+. (Sep 2010)"

100 points Robert Parker: "Now extinct, as this tiny 2.6-acre micro-vineyard was absorbed into Chateau Pavie, the 2000 La Clusiere (100% Merlot) was bestowed a perfect score seven years ago, and I see no reason to change that as it remains a monumental effort. Aromas of creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, charcoal, licorice, and graphite are followed by a stunningly rich, full-bodied, elegant, pure, gentle giant of a wine. Approaching full maturity, it should age effortlessly for another 30+ years. Kudos to proprietor Gerard Perse. (Jun 2010)"

96 points Robert Parker: "La Conseillante made an excellent wine in 2001, another great one in 2005, and the estate hit home runs in both 2008 and, above all, in 2009. In fact, the latter vintage may well end up being the modern-day reference point for La Conseillante. Nevertheless, there’s a lot to be said for this 2000. An elegant, gentle style that is never a blockbuster, the 2000 La Conseillante has a deep ruby/plum/purple color and an unbelievably expressive nose of sweet kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberries, incense, toast, and licorice. Full-bodied yet ethereal in the sense that it seems to combine power along with eloquence and delicacy, this is a beautifully pure wine that has just hit its plateau of full maturity, although ideally I think it would benefit strongly from another 4-5 years of bottle age and drink well for two to three decades. (Jun 2010)"
95+ points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "This has a lifted, more extrovert (for 2000) bouquet with crisp wild strawberry, raspberry, cedar, graphite and a faint hint of Valrona chocolate. Very good definition, a crowd pleaser. The palate is medium-bodied with thick chewy tannins, good acidity, rather coarse and brutish at the moment but very good weight, perhaps at the expense of refinement towards the finish, though it gains more poise with another 10 minutes of aeration. Drink 2020-2040. (Sep 2010)"
95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2000 vintage of La Conseillante has produced an absolute classic and all this beautiful wine needs is another six to eight years of cellaring to start to come into its own. The exceptional bouquet offers up a complex and really pure blend of red and black raspberries, cigar wrapper, a superb base of soil, fresh herbs, coffee, cedar and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure, with a rock solid core of fruit, great structure, moderate tannins and outstanding length and grip on the very focused and blossoming finish. This is a high class vintage of La Conseillante that will probably prove to be superior to either of the riper vintages of 2009 or 2010 and end up being one of the longest-lived vintages from this estate in many, many years. A great wine. 2017-2060+. (Jul/Aug 2011)"

100 points Robert Parker: "One of the wines of the vintage, the 2000 has barely budged in its evolution since it was bottled and released in 2002. After ten years in bottle, it still reveals a dense opaque purple color along with a potentially sensational bouquet of blueberries, black currants, graphite, asphalt and background oak. Extremely powerful, full-bodied and superbly concentrated with good acidity and high but round tannins, this massive La Mission-Haut-Brion should take its place among this estate’s most hallowed vintages when it hits full maturity in another one to two decades. I was surprised by just how youthful this wine tasted at age 12. If tasted blind, I would have guessed it to be around 4 to 5 years old. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050. (Aug 2012)"
97 points Bettane & Desseauve's Guide to the Wines of France: "Very high-class wine, full in form and texture, with very noble tannins, perfectly balanced in spite of its monumentality. Immense future. Drink: 2011 up to 2030. (2011)"
96+ points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 2000 tasting in London. This is backward on the nose, dense black fruits, smoke, a touch of mushroom with a slight reductive scent in the background. The palate is full-bodied with chewy tannins, not quite as refined as the Ausone 2000 (tasted blind alongside), good weight, rather brutish and tannic towards the finish, although it is a question of time rather than intrinsic quality. I think this is a fantastic La Mission that is just coming out of its shell and will shine in several years. Drink 2016-2045. Tasted March 2010. (Sep 2010)"
19.5/20 points Decanter: "Cigar box, cedar, anise, clove, cinnamon -- deep, intense perfume, ripe yet balanced, lovely, long and not overly tannic. Impressive depth of flavour. Like Haut-Brion 2000 but with more berry flavours. Drink: 2011-2030. (Sep 2011)"

95+ points Robert Parker: "I found this to be one of the more backward wines of the 2000 vintage and gave it a window of maturity of 2015-2040 when I reviewed it in 2003. In my two recent tastings of it, I changed that window to 2018-2050, which probably says more than the following tasting note could say. This is a behemoth -- dense, highly extracted, very tannic, broodingly backward, with a dense purple color and very little evolution since it was bottled 8 years ago. Wonderfully sweet cedar and fruitcake notes are intermixed with hints of creme de cassis, licorice, and earthy forest floor. It is full-bodied and tannic, with everything in place, but like so many wines that come from Leoville Barton, it makes a mockery of many modern-day consumers wanting a wine for immediate gratification. Those who bought it should continue to exercise patience and be proud to own a wonderful classic with five decades of longevity ahead of it. (Jun 2010)"

100 points Robert Parker: "I tasted this wine twice during the 2000 horizontals, then I actually popped the cork and drank a half-bottle of it. This wine remains, for me, one of the compelling success stories for proprietor Gerard Perse. An extraordinary effort made from a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from the limestone soils that dominate this very distinctive terroir, the 2000 Pavie has moved out of the closed, dormant, broodingly backward stage into an adolescent period where one can see its extraordinary vibrancy, and great complexity as well as potential. It boasts an unctuous display of rich, cedar box-infused cassis fruit and liquid minerality. The tannins have sweetened, yet the wine has thirty years of longevity and potential evolution. A beautiful wine of great mass as well as elegance, it is good to see the extraordinary efforts that Gerard Perse and his team have made confirmed in this prodigious wine. A legend now ... a legend for the future. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2060. (Jun 2010)"
98 points Bettane & Desseauve's Guide to the Wines of France: "A beautifully sculpted wine, this has magnificent vigor and elegance. The tannins are superbly silky. Drink: 2f011 up to 2025. (2011)"
96 points Wine Spectator: "Voluputuous red. Glorious aromas of very ripe fruit, with layers of spices and chocolate. Full-bodied, with big yet very silky tannins and a long, long finish. Generous and seductive red. Lasts minutes on the palate. Best ever from here. Best after 2010. (7/31/03)"
95 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good full medium ruby. Knockout nose of blackberry, espresso, licorice, minerals and burnished oak; offers terrific verve and clarity for a wine so ripe and rich. Then extremely youthful on the palate, with tightly wound flavors and great inner-mouth energy. Brilliant black fruit and mineral flavors offer compelling perfume. This is still remarkably primary despite its long elevage (the wine was bottled just three weeks prior to my tasting). Finishes with great tactile, chewy persistence. An outstanding vintage for this property. (May/Jun 2003)"
5 stars Decanter: "Rich, brooding, plummy nose, a lot of oak, but majestic fruit. Very concentrated, yet not too extracted. Coffee tones. Fresh and vigorous. From 2010. (Dec 2010)"

97 points Robert Parker: "This is one of the great wines of the vintage, and certainly a candidate for one of the finest wines made at this estate under the management of Christian Seeley and proprietor AXA. Showing incredibly well at two tastings of 2000s, the wine has a dense bluish/purple color and a beautiful nose of incense, melted asphalt, and creme de cassis as well as hints of new saddle leather and licorice. It is superbly concentrated and very pure, with excellent texture and opulence. The acidity seems low, the tannin high but well-integrated. This is a compelling 2000 that is just closing in on its window of maturity and should stay there for at least 20 or more years. Bravo! (Jun 2010)"
96 points Bettane & Desseauve's Guides to the Wines of France: "Remarkable plenitude of constitution and evident nobility; a grand Pauillac, strong and complex, with very racy tannins. A must. Drink: 2011 up to 2025. (2011)"
95 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "Tasted at Roberson’s Pichon Lalande/Pichon Baron vertical. Let’s face it: the nose completely blows away the Pichon-Lalande 2000, so much more fruit concentration and complexity with mulberry, boysenberry, lavender and a touch of leather. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins, superb weight, very smooth and caressing, lovely weight towards the still quite oaky finish. (Feb 2012)"
94 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good full red-ruby. Complex nose combines plum, mocha, minerals, tobacco and burnished oak. A bit tight on entry, then expands and explodes toward the back, showing dense, insinuating flavors of black fruits and licorice. Chewy, sharply delineated Pichon-Baron with excellent underlying backbone and broad, palate-coating tannins. An outstanding vintage for this estate. (May/Jun 2003)"
93 points Wine Spectator: "Fantastic aromas of currants, berries and hints of minerals. Cool and sleek. Full-bodied, with a lovely underbelly of ripe fruit and medium, silky tannins. Best Pichon Baron I have tasted since 1990. Best after 2010. (3/31/03)"
4 stars, 'Highly Recommended,' Decanter: "Broad, earthy red fruit. Muscular and deep. Needs to acquire elegance. From 2010. (Dec 2010)"
4 stars (potential) Michael Broadbent's Pocket Vintage Wine Companion: "Still deep, velvety; good rich nose and flavour. Attractive wine. Good future. Last tasted Feb 2005. 2010-2020."
17.5/20 points Clive Coates (The Wines of Bordeaux): "Full colour. Rich and meaty on the nose. Full body. Some tannin. Quite a big wine. A proper Pauillac. Good depth. Backward. Closed-in. Good grip. Long and positive. Fine. Drink: 2012-2030. (2004)"

96 points Robert Parker: "In short, I find this to be a spectacular Pichon Lalande. Dense purple in color, with loads of coffee, mocha, creme de cassis, and chocolate notes, this is a somewhat unusual blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and a whooping 10% Petit Verdot, with a little bit of Cabernet Franc. The Petit Verdot certainly gives the wine more of a tapenade, floral note, which I think can be interpreted by some as herbal. This is a rich, opulent, stunning Pichon Lalande that is beginning to drink beautifully, yet should continue to improve for at least another 10-15 years and last 30 or more years. (Jun 2010)"
96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Madame de Lencquesaing’s estate has produced a stunner in 2000. The perfumes, delicate and sensuous, give it class, style and make it very memorable. It is delicious now, but there are tannins there, and deep, intense fruit flavors, waiting to develop slowly and surely. (May 2003)"
95 points Wine Spectator: "Classic character. Intense aromas of currant and minerals follow through to full-bodied palate, with loads of velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Some people find this herbaceous, but it reminds me of a currant bush more than something green. This character is due to a higher percent of Petit Verdot than normal. Muscular Pichon. Best after 2010. (3/31/03)"
95 points Bettane & Desseauve's Guide to the Wines of France: "Powerful, complex, and noble, this is a wine of great aromatic freshness, with a smooth, deep texture. Its evolution will be very long but sure. Drink: 2011 up to 2030. (2011)"
94 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good full medium ruby. Rather wild aromas of plum, black raspberry, lead pencil, tobacco, minerals and roasted game. Sweet, thick and complex, with very ripe, mellow flavors of black raspberry, truffle, roasted herbs, espresso and tobacco. Will rely more on its firm tannins than its rather soft, harmonious acids for longevity. This very persistent wine may be starting to shut down in the bottle, but it displays the lovely penetrating sweetness of the year. (May/Jun 2003)"
17.5-18/20 points Stephen Brook (The World of Fine Wine): "Very deep plum-red. Splendid nose, voluptuous, spicy, and oaky, showing a lot of flesh despite a slight herbaceous edge; the bouquet leaps from the glass, but there is brooding fruit as well. Very rich, spicy, tannic, and vigorous, and it almost seems a touch coarse now, since the acidity is surprisingly assertive. This has a lot of volume for Pichon Lalande. Highly concentrated and persistent, this is not the most elegant of wines and is unusually virile, and thus reflects the vintage more than the Pichon style, but still a very good wine. Good length. (Issue #23; 2009)"

19/20 points Clive Coates (The Wines of Burgundy): "After a rather disappointing 2001, this is unexpectedly delicious. Rather more alive. Rich, fullish for the vintage. Fragrant and concentrated. Splendid for a 2000. A real surprise! Drink: Now to 2020. (May 2005)"
92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A maturing, if not fully mature nose speaks of ripe yet cool dark berry fruit, earth, stone and a mineral component that carries over to the rich and equally ripe medium-bodied flavors that possess good mid-palate density and excellent length. This is really quite good in the context of the vintage and while it's drinking very well now, for my taste I would allow it to sleep undisturbed for another 2 to 5 years. Drink: Try from 2012+. (Nov 2010)"
