95+ points Robert Parker: "[$400 list] The 2006 Howell Mountain has already gone into hiding, but there is no doubting its enormous weight, richness, note of graphite, and minerality. The wine possesses enormous concentration and richness as well as lots of blue and black fruits, but I wouldn’t touch it for 7-10 years. It should keep for 30 years. (Dec 2009)"

An Italian wine from the makers of Hocus Pocus -- Amy Christine and Peter Hunken. "Dalla Pancia" translates as "from the belly", a tongue-in-cheek reference to the extra pounds the owners put on during their extended visit to Italy for this project. 95% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot. 500 cases produced.

Producer notes: "This 85% Cabernet Sauvignon from the famed Oakville appellation and 15% Merlot from Howell Mountain represents the latest blend for our Cuvee bottling. Barrel aged in one hundred percent new French oak barrels for 19 months, this wine has tremendous opulence and massive body, yet like our previous efforts retains a sense of balance and overall harmony. This four barrel blend has come together to offer notes of vanilla, coffee, and blackberries on the nose leading to the core of pure and rich fruit."

Not rated. Clive Coates (The Wines of Burgundy): "David Duband's father was a member of the Hautes-Côtes cooperative until he extricated himself in 1991. David took over when his father retired in 1995. When the Parisien François Feuillet bought a small domaine based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, he entrusted young Duband with the share-cropping role. Feuillet bought the estate of Jacky Truchot-Martin of Morey-Saint-Denis in 2005, quadrupling the size of his exploitation. The wines, whether labelled Duband or Feuillet, are identical... High quality here--and a nice man."

Producer notes: "OV is our second label. The name is our nod to Oakford Vineyards, which once occupied part of the Futo estate. For two decades Oakford grew and produced wines of character that were true to the property. OV acknowledges this history, the wines and the people behind both. The aromatics of the 2006 OV are vibrant and focused on fresh cherry and red currant layered with exotic spices. These aromatics carry over to the palate. The mouth feel is rich and generous with an abundance of velvety tannin. Matched to the ripe tannin profile, the complexity of this wine evolves further with smoky mineral notes. This red blend is built to improve with bottle aging but will provide an indulgent drinking experience through its youth. 125 cases produced."

Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Deep ruby. Very smoky aromas of cherry, blueberry and grilled meat; smells like syrah. Pliant dark fruit flavors are supported by juicy acidity and framed by supple tannins. Picks up a spicy quality on the long, zesty finish. Very fresh and easy to drink now. (May/Jun 2008)"
Producer notes: "This old-vine Zinfandel provides captivating aromas of raspberry, boysenberry, blackberry and white pepper and anise, complemented by flavors reminiscent of black raspberries, bittersweet chocolate and cinnamon. Stunningly rich and concentrated, our 2006 Russian River Valley Zinfandel has incredible definition of fruit and sweet luscious tannins."

Producer notes: "63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 5% Syrah. The 2006 Hill Family Estate Barrel Blend is a combination of mountain Cabernet from Soda Canyon and valley floor Merlot and Cabernet from the Beau Terre Vineyard and from a few other small select vineyards. The mountain grapes have
intensity and finesse and the valley floor grapes have plushy, friendly palates. At the very last, we added 5% of our Syrah which really tied things together. Tasting notes: The nose has a great Wow factor -- unmistakably Napa in its elegance, but with an earthy blackberry, white sage, and vanilla-spice appeal that really makes you want to take a sip. Soft black cherry fruit opens to creamy but powerful blackberry flavors, melting tannins, and a clean easy finish. Alcohol 15.6%. 985 cases produced."

'4-Star California Cabernet Sauvignon,' Quarterly Review of Wines: "[$75 list] Pure, ripe, well-knit, black fruit and spicy oak vanillin flavors. (Summer 2011)"
Producer notes: "The Wine: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot. The bouquet begins with fruity aromas of dried cherries, blueberries and cassis and is followed by spicy aromatic notes of sage and sassafras. The mouthfeel of the wine is full bodied with well-structured tannins, flavors of pomegranate and hints of vanilla. This wine is delicious now and should continue to improve for at least a decade. Alcohol 14.5%. 1,696 cases produced.
The Artist: Born in 1982, a native of San Francisco, Sylvia Ji's artistic ability is akin to another time and place. Her work encapsulates an alluring beauty that is both cutting edge and a nod to a time-honored technique. Hauntingly beautiful images brimming with provocation mix with a sense of consternation, hinting that all is not as well as it may initially appear."

Producer notes: "Planted by Justin Meyer in 1974 and named for his wife, Bonny's Vineyard went on to become one of Napa Valley's most celebrated Cabernet vineyards and was Silver Oak Cellars' signature bottling for over a dozen vintages. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2006 Bonny's Vineyard is two things at once: a classic example of our family's celebrated Oakville vineyard and a reflection of the weather during the vintage. Brooding and wintry at first, it's a dark and stormy Cabernet, with aromas of leather and cardamom, hints of eucalyptus, and a dense core of black fruit. Spring-like characteristics emerge with air, including the bright flavors of red and black cherries. Plums and blackberries invoke summer on the fully exposed palate, seasoned by aromas of cedar and vanilla. Much like the enduringly beautiful weather we experienced in the fall, the depth of tannin and concentration of fruit linger elegantly on the palate. More so than any wine we produce, this vintage of Bonny's Vineyard is what pairs best with rich, substantial flavors such as a standing rib roast or the finest aged cheese. Barrel aged 35 months in 100% new American oak. Alcohol 13.5%. 147 cases produced."

Producer notes: "It is the plot called Tire-savatte which produces this blend, the slopes of which dominate the Thouet valley and the village of Saumoussay. This very concentrated vintage will seduce you by its powerful, aromatic expression blending red macerated fruits with liquorice, vanilla and grilled nuances. Born from a strict selection of mature grapes, this more autumnal vintage reflects all the concentration of the Cabernet Franc vine on the Saumurois soil. All care is given to these grapes, giving it a generous and powerful flavor expressing mellow tannins. Best to decant before serving at room temperature (18-20°C), to allow for its full aromas and opulent structure to best complement red meats, big game birds and chocolate cake. Drink: now-2021."

Importer notes: "An estate reflecting the image of an ever-changing Jura and family enterprise that was created in the early '40s by Désiré Rolet. A native vineyard consisting of 60 hectares distributed over the best hills of the Arbois and Côtes du Jura AOC vineyards, the Rolet Estate is the second largest winegrowing estate in the Jura. Tasting Notes: Deep cherry color. On the nose, Morello cherry carries this vintage. Then strawberry, a little bit of blackberry and the characteristic spiciness of this varietal appear. On the mouth, it has a lot of presence. One must wait patiently for this vintage's complex aromas to develop their warm flavors, reminiscent of cooked strawberry, raspberry and various spicy and peppery nuances. This is a vin de garde to be enjoyed with cooked meats, game and cheese."

Producer notes: "The wine balances ripe, concentrated fruit and a supple texture with the firm, crisp acidity inherent in Barbera. Inviting dark cherry, blackberry and coffee aromas lead to bright, ripe, mouth-filling plum, berry and black cherry flavors with hints of spice, and a touch of almond and chocolate. The balance and acidity make it a versatile wine for a wide range of foods. 520 cases produced. Alcohol 14.9%.
This vineyard is in Wooden Valley, in the southeastern part of the Napa Valley appellation, on benchland near two streams. It mainly produces high quality Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, but a block of Barbera represents an inspired match of climate and clone. The main Barbera clone has small, loose clusters and small berries, in sharp contrast to much of the Barbera grown in California, which typically has much larger clusters and berries. The clone is so obscure it doesn't have a formal name that we know, so we refer to it with the name of the UC Davis professor who maintained it. What we do know is that its grapes translate into consistently deep color and concentration."

Producer notes: "Rich dark chocolate and espresso permeate this blend with hints of dark fruit intermingling to bring about a multifaceted experience. Subtle truffle and earthy flavors also show through, producing a wine with the richness of New World style Cabs and the elegance and sophistication of Old World reds. Importer notes: "The Cabernet (80%) provides superb structure and ample fruit, all with natural acidity. The equal parts of Petit Verdot and Merlot amount to 10% each and can be viewed as the proper final 'salting' to a finely prepared dish. No 'fairy dust' used here. You'll find a striking color in the glass and a medley of rich fruits coming from the Cabernet: black currant, plum and juicy berries with a whisper of bay leaf and licorice to boot. The Petit Verdot gives a kiss of spiciness, while the Merlot lends a hint of black cherry. The tannins are elegant and pristine. Fermentation begins in cement vats, just as it did generations ago. Finished in 2-3 year barrels, all re-used from her Château Deyrem-Valentin in Margaux. Non-filtré. 'Back to the future' Grand Vin de Haut-Médoc à la Christelle Sorge."
