90 points Peñín Guide: "(100% pedro ximénez). Colour: light mahogany. Nose: spicy, dry nuts, acetaldehyde, candied fruit, cocoa bean. Palate: complex, flavourful, long, elegant, balanced. (2013)"
89 points Wine Spectator: "This gains richness in the mouth, with a wave of caramel, dried fig, raisin and coffee notes. A pleasant astringency and walnut accent on the finish keeps it from cloying. Drink now. 200 cases imported. (2008)"

Madeira Wine Guide: "Bright tawny color with straw-colored rim, intense nose of dried fruits, caramel and toffee. The palate is sweet and shows lots of acidity to counter-balance the sweetness, in fact the acidity carries the wine through to the toffee-ish finish, with a little coffee and also caramel on the way. Well done. Tasted 3/2008."
San Francisco Chronicle: "Cossart Gordon, arguably the oldest of the Madeira shippers and now another of the Madeira Wine Co. labels, is better known for its nonvintage wines, but this 1997 is full of briny tang -- more than you'd expect for the somewhat sweet Bual. Lots of iodine and hazelnut, papaya and burnt orange, with an intense acidity to enliven it. (12/19/10)"
Medium rich. Aged for 11 years in oak casks. Made from the grapes of a single year's harvest. The wine is aged in the traditional 'canteiro' system, whereby the oak casks are placed high up in the hot, dry lofts of the lodge and left for years to develop their charactiveric flavor and complexity.

Aleatico is a red grape variety often used to produce dessert style wines such as this passito from Costa Toscana. Aleatico wines are characterized by their sweet aromas of roses, berry fruits and lychees. Its relatively high alcohol content of 14.5% is balanced by the grape's natural acidity.

Producer notes: "Florentine gold with a subdued Muscat nose that walks upright in a straight manner. A fine wine with focus and balanced acidity that remains serious without complex layers. A touch of bitterness at the end; a mouth-pleasing finish. 100% Muskotály. 11.3% alcohol."

95 points Wine Spectator: "[$60/500ml list] Gorgeous, featuring a core of creamed peach, persimmon, maple and nectarine notes inlaid with flashes of green tea, dried papaya and mango. Lush and refined, with accents of blood orange and mouthwatering spice echoing on the finish. Muscat de Frontignan. Drink now through 2020. 300 cases imported. (6/15/13)"
94 points Wine & Spirits: "[$60/500ml list] Napoleon Bonaparte purportedly guzzled 30 bottles of Vin de Constance a month. If those vintages were anything like this 2007, it's easy to see why. Made from muscat de Frontignan planted at the original 1650s site, the grapes left to raisin on the vine, this feels ethereal. It's impressively delicate for its succulent texture, maintaining focused freshness in spring-like floral notes, while coating the palate in warmer flavors of apricot, tamarind, candied orange and exotic spice. The finish is bright and seemingly everlasting, mirroring the golden tone that emanates from the glass. (Feb 2013)"
Widely regarded as one of the world’s finest sweet wines, this famously seductive and iconic Vin de Constance is a gloriously sweet offering from the Klein Constantia winery in South Africa. The 2007 vintage was one of the best of the decade, with a long, cool season ensuring concentrated flavors and aromatic intensity. A warm, dry late summer created perfect conditions for the raisining of the Muscat de Frontignan grapes while still on the vine.

From the Meyer Family, founders of Silver Oak Winery. Producer notes: "Made in the traditional solera method, Meyer Family Port is unique among fortified wines produced in California. This rich, complex Port is a blend of several vintages of old-vine Zinfandel that average eight years of age at release. The vines are farmed in the rolling hills of California’s Lodi appellation. On the nose, the Meyer Family Port displays aromas of baked fruit and cooking spice, along with warm notes of alembic Zinfandel brandy. Rich and round on the palate, its lush flavors of sweet cassis and brandied cherries are framed by integrated oak and fine acidity. This delicious Port has a long, concentrated finish and pairs beautifully with artisanal blue cheeses, intense chocolate desserts, or a good cigar."

The palate is dominated by tropical fruits, lime and grapefruit in particular and the overwhelming sensation is one of freshness. The finish lingers seductively. Serve at 10-12 C. 17/20 points Gault & Millau: "The top 'vin jaunes' (yellow wines) are among the greatest wines in the world--as evidenced by this incredibly complex and rich wine, which displays aromas and flavors of nuts, curry, and notes of marc. The mouthfeel is worthy of a great Burgundy. Nose: fruity, spicy. Mouth: powerful white, creamy. Food Accompaniments: white meat (chicken, veal, sweetbreads), spicy Asian cuisine (curry, Thai, Indian); cheeses with refined and powerful aromas, hard cheeses. Alcohol 15%."
Produced only in exceptional vintages, this Savagnin wine is aged in old oak barrels for at least 6 years without any topping up to replace the portion of wine that evaporates. A thin later of yeast called 'voile' forms on the wine's surface similar to flor in the making of fino sherries. The result is a dry wine that ages well, rich in alcohol, very spicy and very aromatic.

Producer notes: "[$75 list] The 2008 Zinfandel Port benefited greatly from late summer heat. Dark and brooding, this rich and luscious wine is reminiscent of old World Portuguese Ruby ports, but with the zesty, spicy, ruby red fruit of Berry-bright Zinfandel. The rich mouth feel is powerful and sweet, but not cloying. Perfect sugar and acid balance make this wonderful wine truly collectable. Alcohol 19.5%. Residual sugar 12.9% 150 cases produced."

91 points Wine Spectator: "[$45/500ml] Fresh, with plenty of vibrant acidity behind the cocoa, vanilla and dried apricot flavors. Spicy and creamy notes linger on the long, broad finish. Drink now. (10/27/10)"
Producer notes: "An outstanding wine that epitomizes everything that is great about a superbly balanced Twenty Year Old Tawny; the translucent copper colored tone of the wine is matched by the beautiful soft nutty aromas gained by a full twenty years ageing in seasoned oak casks. Otima 20 Years is rich and delicate, but never cloying; the tannins and acidity ensure balance and perfect length."
