David Fulton’s bottling is an example of the heights Petite Sirah can reach. The wine is fairly new (the first release was the 1999 vintage) but the vineyard is old...very old. In fact, these are purportedly the oldest Petite Sirah vines in Napa Valley (and possibly California). Founded by David Fulton in 1865, the vineyard and winery are located just a short walk from downtown St. Helena. Handed down generation
by generation, the land exists today as the oldest continuously owned and operated family vineyard in California. The current dry farmed, head trained vineyard is recognized today as an ‘old-vine’ varietal super-site. No doubt about it, this is an intense wine. The pour is inky black displaying dark reds with a deep purple rim. The wine is aged in half new and half two year old French oak barrels. Rising up from a swirling glass are fresh, massive, pure black fruit aromas with hints of blackberry and loganberry, fragrances elegantly revealed in a way rarely seen in this variety. The flavors match the aromatics yet divulge even more with cassis, licorice, and well-integrated oak notes. The texture is a multilayered
coating of round and supple black cherry. At the end of each sip follow rich and mature tannins. The wine allows for current consumption for those who can't wait yet graceful aging for those who prefer patience.

93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$52/750ml list] Keenan’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the highlights in this portfolio. Rich and voluptuous, it totally saturates the palate from start to finish. Dark fruit, violets, spices and licorice all flesh out in this large-scaled, dramatic Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything simply works. The 2009 is a great wine. Even better, it is extremely fairly priced considering the quality of what is in the bottle. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this jewel of a wine. I imagine another few years of bottle age will only help the 2009 develop even more complexity. In this vintage the Cabernet Sauvignon is 73% from Spring Mountain and 27% from Pope Valley. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Dec 2012)"

Producer notes: "The 2000 Keenan Merlot is composed of 59% Keenan Estate fruit. Select Merlot vineyards from Mount Veeder, and the Napa Carneros region were chosen to add complexity and to aid in softening the powerful Estate Merlot. The '00 Merlot has been aged in 50% new French and American oak barrels for 20 months. The wine remains 100% Merlot -- no other varietals were added to the blend. The resulting wine shows intense plum, black cherry and blackberry aromas that are enhanced by a toasty oak background. Consumers can expect this Merlot to open up to a rich, velvety, full-bodied wiine. Alcohol 13.5%."

90 points Robert Parker: "[$36/750ml list] The 2004 Merlot (which includes 3% Cabernet Franc) is a dense, rich, concentrated effort boasting a dark ruby/purple color along with plenty of black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with espresso roast and earth notes. Its moderate tannin is sweet and well-integrated. Drink it over the next decade. (Dec 2006)"
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$36/750ml list] A lovely Merlot, rich and fine, with lots of blackberry and cherry fruit, but also with more complex, earthier notes of olive tapenade, balsamic vinegar and sautéed wild mushrooms. The wine should hold for some years, but is really at its best now. (12/31/07)"
Producer notes: "The 2004 Keenan Merlot is composed of 75% Keenan Estate Merlot. 32% of the wine is Merlot fruit harvested from the Napa Carneros region. In addition, 3% Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has been added to the blend in order to add further complexity and structure. The '04 Merlot has been aged in 33% new French and American oak barrels for 18 months. The resulting wine shows intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis. Complex nuances of cocoa and coffee bean emerge as the wine opens up. This is a 'big' Merlot that will age for many years to come. Alcohol 14.3%."

Producer notes: "The 2006 Keenan Merlot is composed of 73% Keenan Estate Merlot. 24% of the wine is Merlot fruit harvested from the Napa Carneros region. a Small amount (3%) of the Keenan Estate Cabernet Franc was also included int eh final blend. The '06 Merlot has been aged in 33% new French and American oak barrels for 18 months. The resulting wine shows intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis. Producer notes: "A rich, buttery, barrel fermented Chardonnay with a sunny California profile. Citrus driven nose. Hints of matchstick, pineapple, banana and coconut. Soft and round entry. Oak is apparent, but not defining. Mid-palate goes on to reveal other layers of flavors -- vanilla, lemon meringue pie and again coconut. Finish is rich with viscosity that coats the mouth for minutes after your last sip."
Connoisseurs' Guide: "Here is a nicely managed Chardonnay that captures the typically sweet fruit and weighty richness of the Santa Lucia Highlands version, and it does so without being too much of a good thing. It is optimally ripened and decked out with plenty of sweet oak, yet it is measured and mannerly all the same, and its accessible style tags it as one for drinking soon. (May 2011)"

Orin Swift’s cult-like fame started almost immediately several years back with the release of a wine called The Prisoner. Since its inception, this outrageously decadent red with the cool label has perennially been among our most requested wines. The fruit, a 'field blend' reminiscent of the old days in Napa when multiple varieties grew side by side in vineyards, has been carefully selected only from top vineyards in Napa, such as Tofanelli, Morisoli, Page Nord, Marston and David Fulton. Highly Recommended!
90 points Wine Spectator: "Not the distinctive Zin statement this once was, but still a bold, rich red blend that's jammed with flavor. Aromas of blackberry and caramel lead to ripe plum, licorice and spicy vanilla flavors. Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Charbono and Grenache. Drink now through 2017. (6/15/12)"
Producer notes: "44% Zinfandel, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Syrah, 9% Petite Sirah, 2% Charbono, 1% Grenache. Dark red, almost garnet hue with bright red on the rim. Ripe cherry and cedar on the nose with hints of dried rose petal and sweet oak. Lovely entry that leads into a fat and savory mid palate. Ripe fig and black currant dominate the finish with a breadth of soft, well integrated tannins."

90 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good medium-deep red. Liqueur-like red berries, pepper, mocha and sexy oak notes of sandalwood and cinnamon on the nose; this reminded me of Chateauneuf du Pape. Lush, ripe red berry flavors firmed by harmonious acidity. Still a bit youthfully tight, with a saline nuance. But this is suave, fresh and serious, and not overly sweet. Firmly structured, adult zinfandel for drinking over the next several years. (May/Jun 2005)"
