88 points Wine Spectator: "[$20 list] This jammy red shows layers of game and baking spice flavors to the ripe cassis and kirsch notes, which linger with a floral aftertaste. Drink now. (10/15/12)"
88 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(aged 12 months in an 80/20 blend of French and American barrels): Bright red-ruby. Blackberry and licorice aromas accented by herbs and spices. Supple, savory and fine-grained, with a nicely restrained sweetness. The tannins are well integrated but the wine's fruit is still a bit locked-up today and in need of a year or two of bottle aging. Firm and persistent on the finish. (Mar/Apr 2012)"
88 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$20 list] Fleshy and aggressive on the bouquet, this has aromas of wild berries, with leather and dried cheese accents. It feels full and weighty, with sweet, almost-stewy flavors of blackberry and plum, and supporting notes of vanilla and spice. This finishes a bit rubberry. Alcohol 15%. (Aug 2012)"
Producer notes: "This 100% Malbec wine has ripe, red fruit aromas and spicy notes, with round, soft tannins and a lively mouthfeel. This wine pairs well with grilled pork tenderloin, lamb and veal with fresh herbs. Alcohol: 15.0%."

89 points Wine Spectator: "A racy, floral red, offering layers of raspberry ganache, blackberry and light fig fruit that mingle with spice, spring herb and light mesquite notes. Though not a powerhouse, this is well-balanced. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat and Syrah. Drink now. Smart Buys. (7/31/12)"
88 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(a blend of 75% malbec, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 5% each tannat and syrah): Cherry liqueur, menthol, violet and spicy oak on the nose and palate. Suave, supple and energetic, with a sugar/acid balance giving the mid-palate insidious intensity and good definition. Nicely rising, fine-grained finish shows good length and a light touch. Sophisticated for the price. (Mar/Apr 2012)"
Producer notes: "75% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, 5% Tannat. The wine is deep ruby red with bright, purple tones. It is very fruity, with intense aromas of cherry, raspberry and black berries such as mulberry. It has a soft chocolate touch due to oaking. The taste is fresh with a high fruit expression and spicy notes of white pepper. It is easy to drink due to its soft and round tannins. Enjoy this wine with grilled meats including game, duck, red pasta sauces, hearty comfort foods, and a variety of mild and medium cheeses. Alcohol 14.0%."

89 points Stephen Tanzer (Internaitonal Wine Cellar): "(from 80-year-old vines) Good full red-ruby. Plum, mocha and herbs on the nose, with leafy and peppery nuances. Deeper and more tannic than the malbec, showing the slightly herbaceous complexity of cabernet from the Medoc. These tannins will require some bottle aging but this wine has the stuffing to support it. Michael Rolland consults for this very promising new venture... (Jan/Feb 2011)"

89 points Wine Spectator: "Spice and game notes mark this dark yet racy red, which features a core of spicy blackberry, kirsch and raspberry notes on the broad finish. Drink now. (10/31/12)"
89 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. Aromas of crushed blackberry, leather, tree bark and dark chocolate reminded me a bit of mourvedre. Juicy, moderately sweet and intense, with noteworthy verve to its intense blackberry and black cherry flavors. Finishes with lovely floral lift and suave tannins. (Mar/Apr 2013)"
Producer notes: "A deeply red color with intense violet shades, introduces aromas of red berries, floral notes and spices leading to very pure and fresh flavors of raspberries and ripe plums. In mouth it is a velvety and refreshing malbec due to its? right acidity. It shows a touch of complexity given by the oak as well as rounded tannins that certainly create a very pleasant finish."

87 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "($15 list; a 50/50 blend) Bright ruby-red. Ripe aromas of smoke and licorice. Offers good texture but comes off as a bit dry and rustic, with flavors of currant, chocolate and smoke and serious, slightly drying tannins... (Jan/Feb 2010)"
Producer notes: "Dark reddish/purple color. Intense aroma of black raspberries. This medium-bodied, very lively wine has loads of ripe red plum and black raspberry flavors with a slightly spicy character and a long, juicy finish. It's a winner both before and during a meal. Certainly enjoyable in its youth, but will age beautifully. A fun wine to try with a wide range of red wine-friendly foods, and one that will delight even the most pretentious connoisseur."

Creamy, seamless and round, with a restrained sweetness and good freshness to its dark raspberry and blackberry flavors. Has just enough acidity to maintain its shape. Finishes with ripe tannins and very good length. Use this excellent value as a stand-in for a polished Cotes du Rhone. (Oct 2011)"

87 points Wine Spectator: "[$18 list] Shows a mix of violet, pastis and ripe boysenberry fruit, backed by ample spice and toast. The fleshy finish lets the toasty edge hang on. Malbec, Bonarda and Petit Verdot. Drink now. (12/31/10)"
Producer notes: "80% Malbec, 12% Bonarda, 8% Petit Verdot. This blend presents a violet red color with shades of purple. At first the classic floral aromas of Malbec fill the nose, to be latter enhanced by notes of red fruits, such as strawberries, typical of the Bonarda variety. On the palate, it has the trademark Malbec silkiness, buoyed by the structure and depth of Petit Verdot. This wine achieves a unique combination where Bonarda and Petit Verdot add freshness and structure to a foundation composed of our renowned and beloved Malbec. A unique wine with a persistent and long finish. Its tannic structure and complex nose makes it a perfect choice to accompany beef and stews."

87 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "[$11 list] La Yunta’s 2011 Torrontes is a refined expression of this increasingly popular varietal. Fragrant notes of spring flowers and tropical fruits lead to a supple, flavorful, dry wine with just enough acidity for balance. Drink this solid value over the next 12-18 months. (Dec 2011)"
Producer notes: "Notably aromatic of green melon and white peach. It has balanced citrus flavor with a touch of French oak to provide a crisp yet lingering finish. Wonderful as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to seafood or poultry. Alcohol 12.5%."

On the light side and very easy to drink. (Mar/Apr 2012)"

89 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright full red. Sexy red berries, musky coffee, chocolate and spices on the slightly reduced nose. Suave and fine-grained, with an attractive sweetness to the red berry and sexy oak flavors. Round, dry and sophisticated wine, finishing with smooth, fine tannins and lingering herbal complexity. (Jan/Feb 2011)"
88 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): "[$21 list] The 2008 Malbec Reserva spent 12 months in a mix of new and used French oak. Cedar, Asian spices, incense, red licorice, and black cherry notes are followed by a ripe, forward, flavorful Malbec that has enough structure and balance to drink well for another 5-6 years. It, too, is a very good value. (Dec 2011)"

89 points and 'Best Buy,' Wine & Spirits: "A blend of 70 percent malbec with corvina, this is made in the style of a ripasso. In spite of the warmth of its alcohol, it feels refreshing, the acidity like a beacon illuminating the red fruit flavor. For veal slow-braised with sweet spices. (Feb 2012)"
Producer notes: "70% Malbec, 30% semi-dried Corvina. A deep-coloured red with violet notes. A decisive bouquet of ripe, jammy fruits, especially prune, with a further suggestion of licorice. Great structure immediately on the palate with a well maintained acidity, nicely balanced by decisive and lively tannins. The generous nose makes for a pleasantly dry finish. The technique used here is Masi’s speciality: double fermentation. After soft pressing of the Malbec grapes, on-skin fermentation lasted 16 days in stainless steel tanks at a constant 23-27°C. The second fermentation was induced with selected yeasts and used 30% of whole Corvina grapes given a brief appassimento treatment before pressing. 13.5% alcohol."

Part of the wine (40%) is matured in American oak barrels for 12 months in order to accomplish structure. Food Pairing: Wild, red meat, spicy pastas and fine fermented cheeses or Roquefort."

89 points Wine Enthusiast: "A bit rooty and smoky on the nose, with grapey, loud flavors of sweet berry, black plum and chocolate. The palate is full of choppy acids that keep it pumping forth, while the finish is richer and more chocolaty, with fig notes. A bruiser, but one that’s very good for varietal PV. (Aug 2011)"
88 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and dense, with ample toast and bittersweet cocoa leading the way for a muscular core of dark currant, fig and blackberry fruit. The finish is filled with smoke and toast, but this has the flesh for balance. Drink now. 1,000 cases made. (12/15/10)"
