92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir Ritchie Vineyard is an attractive, mid-weight wine laced with sweet red cherries, flowers, spices and French oak. It shows lovely mid-palate sweetness and inner perfume in an attractive, mid-weight style best suited for near-term drinking. Today the Ritchie comes across as just a bit compact and one-dimensional next to the other 2010 Pinots. With air, though, the wine blossoms nicely. Freshly cut roses and spices waft from the delicate, feminine finish. It will be fascinating to follow this precise, crystalline beauty over the coming years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. (Feb 2012)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard comes across as very tight, but then opens up, with plums, black cherries, tar, minerals and licorice some of the nuances taking shape in the glass. The 2010 UV needs another year or two in bottle at the very least. There is an element of unrestrained wildness that runs through the 2010 UV. The heavy presence of clay in this site comes through in the wine’s broad-shouldered personality. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. (Feb 2012)"
PinotFile: "15.3% alc. Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. The nose highlights blackberry and black plum fruit with a noticeable oak contribution. Soft and smooth with generous flavors of blackberries and black plum sauce accented with hints of oak spice and vanilla. Good
fruit-driven length on the finish that leaves a little heat in its wake. Good. (12/10/12)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard is the richest and most expressive of these 2010 Pinots. It also shows the best balance of aromatics, fruit, acidity and tannin. Soy, mocha, the blackest of cherries and white flowers are some of the notes that flesh out in the glass. Delicately woven layers of nuance distinguish the UV-SL. This is a striking wine in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. (Feb 2012)"
PinotFile: "15.0% alc. Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Aromas of smoky oak, tea leaf, oil and faint black fruit jam. Oak-infused flavors of dark berries, plum and cassis. Meaty with plenty of dry tannin, finishing juicy with good acidity. A man’s Pinot with full-on extraction displaying more oak at presence than I prefer. Well-crafted in its style. Good. (12/10/12)"

91 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby; attractive, forward, deep, intense, spicy, black cherry and red berry fruit aroma with hints of sandalwood, cocoa, sage, and sassafras; medium-full body; cedary, cranberry, raspberry, and black cherry fruit flavors with bright acidity and a rich, textured mouthfeel; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. (The Kosta Browne wines in this flight were tasted only six weeks after they were bottled, and should show even better with some bottle aging.) Very highly recommended. 14.5% alcohol; released Spring 2013. (May 2013)"
Producer notes: "The 2011 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of vineyards which lie in cool areas throughout the Russian River Valley. This is a complex region, which in turn allows this Pinot Noir to have many layers and complexities. The wine shows a range of bright red fruits to brambly voluptuous flavors, all hallmark characteristics of the appellation. The individual lots are all unique, providing distinct aromas and flavors, and giving the blend broad complexity. We recommend drinking this wine between 2015 and 2019. This beautifully complex wine shows layered aromas of rich warm fennel and sage spices, mingled with the red and dark fresh fruit components of red raspberry, crushed ripe black cherries and hint of rose petal. This Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is pure, balanced, lush and focused. Rich chocolate covered cherries come to the front, while fresh ripe raspberries, pomegranate and cola develop throughout the palate, all resting generously on the top of the tongue. The lingering finish wraps around your palate with focus and freshness. Barrel aged 16 months in French oak (48% new). Alcohol 14.5%."

91 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby with purplish tinges; attractive, deep, spicy, cherry and red berry fruit aroma with hints of clove and rhubarb; medium-full body; forward, rich, fleshy, red berry fruit flavors with a full, plush mouthfeel; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Very approachable now though deserves a good year or two of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 14.5% alcohol; 1,693 cases; released Spring 2013. (May 2013)"
Producer notes: "Our 2011 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a blend of five vineyards: Garys’, Pisoni, Rosella’s, Sierra Mar and Soberanes. These vineyards are located in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands and are built upon a tradition of high quality hand-winegrowing. We are so grateful for the friendship of the Pisoni and Franscioni families, whose own friendship spans three generations, and who provided us access to this spectacular fruit. Aromatics: This wine displays deep notes of orange peel, cherries, and five-spice and is supported by hints of ginger, strawberry and rhubarb. On the palate: Our Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a luscious mouth-filling wine. It is deeply structured with supple tannins centered in the mid-palate. A sweet and sour mix of red and black fruits; penetrating red cherry and blackberry dominate, ending in a clean strawberry and dark cherry finish. Barrel aged in French oak (50% new). Alcohol 14.5%. 1,693 cases produced."

97 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "The 2010 roster of Pinots from Williams Selyem arguably ranks with the best we have seen, yet, among the many beauties therein contained, this outstanding effort lodges a hard-to-dispute claim of occupying the very head of an overachieving class. It is as deep and concise and pure in fruit as it is impeccably polished, and its layered flavors of ripe cherries, vanilla, crème caramel and graphite compel sip after satisfying sip. It is amazingly rich, but it is always light on its feet, and we confess that waiting for it to grow into its best some five years hence is sure to be no easy task. (Feb 2013)"
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This shows the extraordinary richness and complexity that the winery’s estate vineyard has exhibited over its lifetime. It’s vast in cherry, red currant and licorice flavors, plus multiple layers of sautéed mushroom, exotic baking spice, mineral and sweet, smoky sandalwood. It’s also very tannic, with a brisk spine of acidity. Good as it is, it needs time for all the parts to knit together. Better after 2018. Alcohol 13.9%. 285 cases produced. (Mar 2013)"
Producer notes: "This wine is rich and complex with aromas of ripe raspberry, plum, cassis, rosewater, strawberry, raspberry, crème brulee, black cherry cobbler, vanilla bean, sassafras, mushroom, bacon and earth. In the background orange rind, dark chocolate, vanilla bean and velvety tannins combine with fresh acidity to provide a long mouth-watering finish. Strawberry, clove, anise, cinnamon and cardamom flavors dominate the entry and middle palate and the finish lingers with juicy acidity of wild blackberries and pie cherries. I believe this wine will have extraordinary aging potential. Barrel aged in 71% new and 29% 1-year-old oak. Alcohol 13.9%."
