'Very good,' PinotFile: "13.2% alc. Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Shy aromas of black cherries, rosebush and flint. Middleweight flavors of black cherries, black raspberries, cola and rose water, with a flowery undertone. Well-balanced ripe tannins and a focused, chalky finish leaving behind a lively fruit impression. Not the drive, extract and power we have come to expect from Shea Vineyard in this vintage, but still a wine of interest. Tasted the following day from a previously opened bottle, the nose was very perfumed and flowery with hints of oak and spice, the wine was smooth and soft on the palate, and some appealing spice had been added to the flavor profile. (4/13/13)"
Producer notes: "Botanica is always sappy and sanguine with a taste of wild rose, sour cherries, and blood orange. It is tempting to define them solely by their compelling texture and lush personality, but there is a structural element that is equally striking. This balance between extraordinarily concentrated fruit and intense levels of extract is the essence of the wine."

Producer notes: "Ceras is Botanica’s counterpoint. Its color is more purple than red. It is more about minerals and herbs than fruit and flowers. It is a focused and elegant distillation of rock rather than an opulent cascade of fruit. It is an expression of the geology that lays beneath our land, the tart blue fruits of the coast range and the tender herbs that one finds amongst the trees and mushrooms of the Northwest forest."

94 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "[$80 list] Bright violet color. Explosively perfumed aromas of red and dark berry preserves, Asian spices and potpourri, with cola and vanilla accents building in the glass. Sappy, broad and appealingly sweet, offering lively, spicy dark berry flavors with nuances of soy and candied flowers. Shows plenty of upfront appeal and intense fruit, finishing smooth, spicy and very long. (Jul/Aug 2012)"
93 points Wine Spectator: "[$80 list] This Pinot is impressive for its clarity, transparency and focused blackberry, raspberry and sassafras flavors, hinting at floral and mineral notes as the finish lingers enticingly. Offers elegance and refinement without losing intensity. Drink now through 2020. 1,263 cases made. (9/30/12)"
Producer notes: "If the Willamette Valley is the more hedonistic then this is the more intellectual older sibling -- showing its breeding as well as restraint. This wine as always is 100% from our original estate vineyard. Medium ruby color, aromatically very pure nose of sweet and sour cherries, red currants, pomegranate and even a refreshing touch of ruby red grapefruit. Reminds us of a red-fruited, Cote de Beaune. Medium bodied, elegant, pure and racy. The tannins are extremely well integrated, balanced by zesty acid. This is a sleek, lithe, yet subtly muscular Pinot. Maturity window: 2013-2025."

94 points Wine Spectator: "[$90 list] Taut and focused, this offers a cascade of cinnamon, clove, cherry, raspberry and guava flavors, coming together harmoniously against refined tannins. The finish glides easily. Lingers and lingers. Drink now through 2019. 600 cases made. (10/15/11)"
18/20 (93) points Decanter: "Raspberry nose, lifted and not too oaky. Full-bodied and spicy, with more force than the Beaux Frères Vineyard bottling, showing freshness as well as depth. Good length and fine potential. Drink: 2014-2025. Alcohol 14.1%. (Feb 2013)"
92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Deep red with a bright rim. Exotically perfumed nose displays an array of dark fruit and floral scents, along with notes of Asian spices, anise and lavender. Shows very good depth and a surprisingly lithe character, with energetic raspberry and cherry flavors and notes of floral pastilles and licorice. A spicy quality adds energy to the long, sweet, silky finish. This is very young still. (Jul/Aug 2011)"
Producer notes: "Medium ruby hued, this wine exhibits notes of red currants and sandy, loamy undertones. Medium bodied, spicebox, Christmas fruitcake and herbs. There is a depth and richness that we normally find in this vineyard planted to Dijon clones. This vintage shows a different side of this vineyard one of elegance and light -- the fruit profile is more one of red fruit than the normal dark fruit that we expect. Still complex and slow to reveal itself as this cuvée always is we are still enjoying watching this wine unwind and open up. Right now it is simply giving us hints of what is to come. This should be a wine to enjoy over the next 8+ years."

PinotFile: "[$100 list] 552 cases. The site has sedimentary soils and a slightly higher elevation than the original Beaux Frères Vineyard. Planted on a steep south facing slope to Dijon clones 113, 114, 115, 667 and 777. (11/26/12)"
Producer notes: "This cuvee tends to lean towards the Côte de Nuits style of Pinot Noir. Dark ruby color with a hint of plum, Asian spice and forest floor on the nose as well as a spectrum of darker flavors to match. This is the richest and fullest of the three cuvees with great acidity and a multilayered mouth-feel. The texture is silky and enticing with moderate tannins suggesting a wine with aging potential. This cuvee should age well for 12-15 years. Case production: 552."

94 points Wine Spectator: "Smooth, round and expressive, light-footed but bursting with currant, blackberry and floral flavors, hinting at mint and wet stone as the finish lingers effortlessly against fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2020. 370 cases made. (2/28/13)"
94 points and 'Year's Best Pinot Noir,' Wine & Spirits: "The wine marries place and vintage with effortless grace. Its generous dark cherry and plum scents flow into a seamless, to-the-rim fullness of flavor, grounded by a dark basalt minerality, which seems to give the wine energy and propulsion. The tension between fruit and structure, between grip and give, makes this wine the sort to age -- or enjoy now with grilled salmon. 370 cases. (Apr 2013)"
92 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "Combining fruit from several sweet spots on their property (and reflecting two Dijon clones and a bit of Wadenswil), the Bethel Heights 2010 Pinot Noir Casteel Reserve displays a delightfully juicy and flower-bedecked amalgam of red and black currant, elderberry and cherry, as well as a polished feel and saliva-inducing undertone of nut oils and salted, fatty roasting pan scrapings that send my salivary glands into palpitations. And there’s a real ping of energy in this wine’s dynamic and sustained finish. This ought to be worth following for a decade. (Aug 2012)"

93 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "Brittan’s 2010 Pinot Noir Gestalt Block smells pungently, intriguingly and unusually of huckleberry, gunpowder green tea, and intimations of marine breeze and quarry dust, all of which latch onto a bitter-edged, palate-staining, sappy matrix of fresh blackberry and black raspberry. If anything (if possible!) even more focused and vibrant than its Basalt Block sibling, this is no less remarkably buoyant and yet more evidently, even blatantly extract-rich, with a firm but polished feel and manifest but fine-grained tannins. There is a savory invigoration of mineral salts and berry seed that I can’t get off my gums. Anticipate, I predict, a decade or more of fascination. (Aug 2012)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Pinot Noir Reed Vineyard is one of the more direct wines in this lineup. There is an exotic quality to the spice, orange peel and tobacco notes that is deeply intriguing, but in the end the fruit is more of a soloist than an orchestra. None of the Calera wines can be called straightforward, but the Reed is one of the most simple. Still, within the broader context of California Pinot Noir, it is fabulous -- just not as fabulous as its stable mates! Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Aug 2012)"
92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Vivid red. Candied red fruits and flowers on the fragrant nose. Sappy, seamless and gently sweet, offering powerful black raspberry and cherry flavors that become spicier with air. Closes smooth and very long, with resonating anise and raspberry compote flavors and gentle tannins. I found this bottling to be the most approachable of Calera's single-vineyard releases this year. (Nov/Dec 2012)"
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This shows a delicate silkiness and a sweet essence of wild raspberries that make it fully ready to drink now. But that quality obscures its subtleties of mineral, mushroomy earth and flower notes that add to this Pinot’s great complexity. As good as it is now, it will have no trouble negotiating the next decade. 1,277 cases produced. Alcohol 14.7%. (Oct 2012)"
92 points and ' Year's Best Pinot Noir,' Wine & Spirits: "Reed’s north-facing slope gives wines that tend to be more linear than Calera’s other bottlings. In 2009, Reed leads with the green scents of whole cluster fermentation -- rhubarb and wintergreen -- and isn’t as filled-out as the Jensen (above). With air the fruit sweetens, knitting together those spicy aromas and the pronounced cranberry-like acidity. It’s reticent right now, needing some time in bottle before it fully spreads its wings. Then serve with pheasant. 1,277 cases. (Dec 2012)"
PinotFile: "14.8% alc., 281 cases. 4.4-acre vineyard, yields 1.02 tons per acre. Aged 17 months in 30% new French oak barrels. Unfiltered. Light reddish color in the glass. Enticing aromas of strawberries, red cherries and sandalwood. More vineyard terroir evident that the other vineyard-designated Pinots in this vintage. Flavorful core of cherries, brown spice and a hint of vanilla wrapped in balanced tannins. Not the fruit intensity of the other Pinots in this vintage, but the long aromatic finish leaves an enticing trail of cherries. A feminine wine in a dominatrix way. Very good. (12/10/12)"
Producer notes: "Calera’s Mt. Harlan Vineyards are located in the Gavilan Mountains 25 miles east of the Monterey Bay. The site was chosen for its limestone soils and ideal climate. At an average elevation of 2,200 feet it is among the highest and coolest vineyard sites in California. Tasting Notes: Light garnet hue and delicate aromas of cardamom, graphite, sandstone, rose petals and blueberry instantly draw you into this fascinating and unusual Pinot Noir. Reed vineyard, with its north facing aspect gives us a most alluring mélange of black plum, forest floor, dried cranberry, rhubarb fennel, mint, black cherry, sage and white pepper. The texture is graceful, lithe and balanced with assertive, playful tannins promising a long and interesting life. A Pinot Noir collector’s delight."

Enticing middleweight flavors of black cherries and dark berries, displaying the plush, vivid fruit that the Russian River Valley is famous for. Impeccable balance with well use of oak accents, offering restrained tannins, good length, and easy drink ability. Continues in the tradition of consistently excellent wines crafted by Rochioli cellarmaster, Terry Bering. California through and through. (6/25/12)"

'Very Good,' PinotFile: "14.5% alc., 300 cases. Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Very bright and spicy cherry aroma which builds in intensity over time in the glass. Ornate cherry flavor with accents of Chinese five-spice, cola, anise and oak, displaying soft tannins, no rough edges, and finishing with a hi-tone cherry presence and juicy acidity. More body and nuance the following day from a previously opened bottle. I would suggest cellaring for a year. (3/23/13)"

92+ points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$59 list] The 2009 Pinot Noir is gorgeous. Bright red fruit, flowers, licorice and spices are some of the notes that emerge from this mid-weight, striking Pinot. Though at times a touch closed this shows marvelous mid-palate presence and a long finish that resonates beautifully. There is a reticence from the cool growing season that is totally alluring, as the wine is only showing a part of its ultimate potential at this stage. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (Aug 2011)"
91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright violet color. Fresh red fruits and flowers on the spice-accented nose. Lively and precise, with sappy raspberry and cherry flavors given spine by tangy acidity. Shows excellent clarity and verve on the finish, which echoes the floral and spice notes. (Oct/Nov 2011)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Combines ripe, supple plum and black cherry flavors with a touch of rose petal, anise, sage, cedar and floral notes that are slow to unfold and expand, but they do so in an enticing way. Drink now through 2018. 900 cases made. (12/15/11)"
Producer notes: "Medium strawberry/garnet color. Primary and bright fruit aromas dominate pre-release: juicy strawberry, cherry and raspberry references make this wine surprisingly open and enticing. There’s a bit of spice and earth in both nose and in the mouth, but the fruit and baby fat are still dominating the flavor profile of this ebullient, young cuvee. Bright and structured in the mouth, but while persistently slutty in its infancy, we expect the middle and finish to fill in as the wine settles into its role as a long-term ager. Don’t let its sexy winking fool you into drinking it young--this one is born for the cellar and we expect it to start shining in about 3 years. A spectacular, cool vintage very similar to 2007 and 2005, this cool climate gem was a pleasure to grow and make: no real hardships or challenges in the growing or vinification. Best 2013-2020. 900 cases produced. 14.1% alcohol."

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Outstanding. So dry and elegant, with such a deft, delicate texture, yet so explosive in fruit and spice. Bone dry, it has notes of herbs, cinnamon, raspberries and white pepper. A gorgeous, complex wine, one to think about and discuss. Alcohol 13.7%. (Jul 2011)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2009 Pinot Noir Monument Tree is beautifully direct, focused and articulate. Dark red cherries, flowers, smoke and minerals wrap around the palate in this firm, beautiful Pinot. This is one of the more structured wines in the Copain lineup. Today it comes across as a bit virile but the tannins should soften with further bottle age. Darker fruits and floral notes reappear on the finish, adding further complexity and nuance. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (Feb 2012)"
93 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright medium red. Highly perfumed bouquet of redcurrant, raspberry, potpourri and Asian spices. A fresh, spicy, precise midweight that offers sweet red fruit and candied rose flavors, with notes of blood orange and white pepper adding urgency. Tangy, focused and pure, finishing with excellent cut and lingering spiciness. (May/Jun 2011)"
Producer notes: "Named for a landmark redwood tree, the Monument Tree vineyard is planted with an eastern sloping exposure, avoiding the late afternoon sun. The wine is a blend of clones 115 and 777, and soils are comprised of decomposed sandstone and loam that are starkly expressed in the spicy fruit they yield. Tasting Notes: Coastal proximity and a lengthy ripening period result in deep, developed and concentrated fruit, as the 2011 Monument Tree Pinot Noir proudly displays. As glorious and commanding as the solitary sentinel redwood that gives the vineyard its name, the Monument Tree is an absolute stunner with a round, silky palate and a long, lingering finish. Alcohol 13.5%."

94 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. Sexy, highly perfumed bouquet evokes candied red fruits, cherry compote, potpourri and star anise. Fresh and lively but deeply pitched, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and suggestions of cola and candied flowers. Shows outstanding clarity and power on the finish, which features slow-building tannins and bright minerality. (Jul 2012)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "Bright and sleek, offering pretty blackberry and red plum flavors that stay intense as the finish lingers effortlessly, with chocolate complexity, against refined tannins. Drink now through 2019. 2,750 cases made. (12/31/12)"
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is woodsy and dark, with a black licorice note. The flavors are subtle at first, the cherry and wood notes mingling in a fine weave, the tannins persistent and a bit prickly until they settle out with air, becoming silky. It’s a satisfying red to decant for duck confit. (Oct 2012)"
92 points and 'Year's Best Pinot Noir,' Wine & Spirits: "This is woodsy and dark, with a black licorice note. The flavors are subtle at first, the cherry and wood notes mingling in a fine weave, the tannins persistent and a bit prickly until they settle out with air, becoming silky. It’s a satisfying red to decant for duck confit. (Oct 2012)"
91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "The Domaine Drouhin 2009 Pinot Noir Laurene delivers rich dark cherry and plum fruit, its persistent but in no way superficial sweetness wreathed in bitter-sweet floral perfume and allied to a vaguely stony undertone. Almost velvety in texture, this nonetheless finishes with a grip that implies abundant if fine tannins. It doesn’t -- indeed, given its vintage, almost surely couldn’t -- approach the infectious sheer primary juiciness of the corresponding 2010; nor does it strike me for now as being any more complex than the highly impressive (and much less expensive) 'classique' (i.e. Drouhin’s principal bottling). But it’s surely worth following for at least half a dozen years, during which time it might well reveal its superiority. 'You had to be really cautious with extraction in this vintage,' notes Bell of 2009, 'because there was a lot of dry skin material in the cap.' (Aug 2012)"
Producer notes: "Dark and vibrant in color, the 2009 Laurène is a classic expression of our Dundee Hills Pinot Noir. The aromatics are vibrant, and consist of sweet red fruit, cherry, cola nut, and a hint of toast. The mouth weight is a balance between the plush palate feel, soft, well-integrated tannins and a nice mineral lift. The fresh red fruit flavors of cherry and cranberry mix easily with a touch of vanilla and smoke. The finish is long and silky, as one expects from Laurène. All in all, the 2009 Laurène is a wine of pleasure and elegance, a nice representation of the Drouhin style in a warmer vintage. Easy to love and approachable now, you can certainly cellar this beautiful wine for another 8 to 12 years."

Shows good depth and some complexity, and deserving a few more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 14.1% alcohol; released June 2012. (Oct 2012)"
Producer notes: "8 vineyard blend: 34% Dutton Ranch, 16% Gunsalus, 12% DuMOL Estate, 10% Abbott, 8% Hansel, 8% Joy Rd, 6% Greywacke, and 6% Sonoma Stage. Bright ruby red. Warm, inviting aromas draw you in: bright and lively then dark and complex. Wild cherry, fresh raspberry, sassafras and grilled meat. Complex tobacco and cocoa notes. Juicy palate entry then a fine interplay between red and black fruits. Black tea, cranberry and apple skin tartness. Darker woodsy-truffle notes. Broad silky texture develops with air but always framed by muscular enveloping tannins. Finish sails on and on. Serve at 60 degrees (not too warm) to fully capture the wine’s wonderful purity."

94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir Estate DuMol Estate is another of the more elegant, textured wines in the range. It captures a highly appealing stylistic middle ground between the Ryan and the Widdoes, with the aromatics and silkiness of the former and the fruit density of the latter. Sweet and perfumed through to the finish, the DuMol Estate is pure sexiness in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. (Apr 2013)"
92 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby; attractive, forward, intense, spicy, complex, raspberry and black cherry fruit aroma with hints of cocoa, clove, sassafras, and forest floor; medium-full body; forward, rich, textured, spicy, concentrated, cranberry and black cherry flavors with firm acidity and overtones of toasty oak; medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Developed with airing in the glass and shows good aging potential. Very highly recommended. 14.1% alcohol; 813 cases; released November 2012. (Feb 2013)"
92 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "Picking a favorite from the current DuMOL bunch is no easy task, but this stunning wine vies for top honors by dint of its amazing depth. It manages to be both very rich and refined at one and the same time, and, from first sniff to finish, it presents a wealth of juicy young fruit juxtaposed with creamy oak and root-beer-like spice. It never gives in to simple sweetness but is instead a serious, many-layered wine of immense richness and savor, and it has the structure and stamina of one that will age famously for a good many years. (Feb 2013)"
'Very good,' PinotFile: "14.1% alc., 787 cases. Released November 2012. Sourced from DuMOL Estate Vineyard, Calera, Swan, Pommard, 667 and 777. Yield 2.1 tons per acre from 6- year-old vines. Aged 14 months in 55% new French oak barrels. Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Evocatively nuanced aromatic profile offering an array of scents including black cherry, dark berry, forest floor, baking spice, oak cask and old wallet. Moderately rich and very flavorful with intense flavors of black plum, dark berries with an earthy undertone and a hint of spice and vanilla. The attention-getting mid palate attack is followed by a lengthy fruit-driven finish. Well-structured tannins give the wine substance and balance the powerful fruit. Probably the most intensely fruity wine in the 2010 lineup. A muscular ballet dancer. (2/28/13)"
Producer notes: "Brilliant deep rose color. Penetrating floral, fruit and herbal aromas: black cherry and raspberry, fresh herbs, fragrant flowers, toffee and cocoa powder. Great vineyard purity with tightly entwined aromas and flavors. Dark fruits, earth, fresher blueberry, orange zest, a hint of black olive. Structured back end with lifting acidity and youthful tannins. Drink between 2013 and 2022. Native yeast and malolactic fermentations then aged 14 months in French oak barrels, 55% new. 787 cases produced."

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2010 Pinot Noir Ryan Widdoes Vineyard has a certain heaviness to it that I personally find less interesting than some of the other wines in the range. The fruit is boisterous and rich, but there is quite a bit less in the way of energy, minerality or tension. By just about any other producer’s standards, this would be a fabulous wine, but at DuMol the 2010 Ryan is only outstanding. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. (Apr 2013)"
91 points California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby; attractive, forward, fragrant, spicy, earthy, raspberry and cherry fruit aroma with hints of cinnamon and cola; medium to medium-full body; rich, textured, cherry and red berry fruit flavors that are expansive and well balanced with bright acidity; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Enjoyable to taste now though deserving a few more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 14.2% alcohol; 1,220 cases; released November 2012. (Dec 2012)"
'Very good,' PinotFile: "14.3% alc., 1,184 cases. Released November 2012. Sourced from Widdoes Vineyard, Martini selection. Yield 2.65 tons per acre from 25-year-old vines. Aged 14 months in 45% new French oak barrels. Aged 14 months in 40% new French oak barrels. Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Slow to open in the glass, but offers considerable appeal over time. Aromas of fresh blackberry tart, forest floor, rose petal, oak and saddle. Discreetly concentrated core of black raspberry and black plum fruit with a hint of spiced chocolate and vanilla wafer. The tannins and acidity are nicely integrated and the mouth feel is very soft, creamy and sexy. (2/28/13)"
Producer notes: "Deep rose color, quite dark and brilliant. Complex floral/herbal aromas: juniper, bay leaf, anise then wild berry sweetness, kirsch, sassafras and tobacco. Great power and dimension to the palate. Rich, but never soft - a lean dynamic power. Boysenberry, maple, cocoa then mint and game. Fine tannin-acid balancing act. Fresh orange zest on the finish. Drink between 2012 and 2020. Native yeast and malolactic fermentations then aged 14 months in French oak barrels, 45% new. 1,184 cases produced."

Producer notes: "The final wine is a particularly silky, high toned Devil's Gulch offering showing the refined nature of Devil's, if not the people associated with it. In the nose, it's candied raspberry, strawberry, coriander and cloves. We love how it continues to open in the glass, and different nuances keep popping up. The mouth offers sweet red berry fruit, Asian spice overtones, and super fine, resolved tannins. The moderate alcohol and fresh acidity provide a cherry toffee finish that keeps you wanting more. This is a great match for Mark's Devil's Gulch rabbit, or any fair prepared with delicacy and nuance. 394 cases produced."

93 points PinotReport: "[$72 list] Deep ruby color; deep, complex, spicy cherry aromas with some forest floor and herbal notes; deep, rich, dark cherry flavors with baking spices and some forest floor notes; silky texture; some sweet oak; good structure and balance; long finish. Rich, complex Pinot with a great palette of flavor. 309 cases made. (2/15/13)"
92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Dark red. Deep, dark aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, baking spices, cocoa powder and licorice; showed higher-pitched mint and violet notes with extended aeration. Rich and deep but not at all heavy, with lovely inner-palate lift to the fruit, licorice, spice and game flavors. Dense, lively wine with excellent palate presence. Finishes with suave tannins and noteworthy persistence. (May 2012)"
92 points Connoisseurs' Guide: "[$72 list] Subtle touches of fresh herbs and a trim bit of sweet oak are sympathetic partners to nicely focused, ripe red-cherry fruit first in the nose and them again in this inviting wine's lengthy flavors. Fairly full-bodied but never less than lithe and well-balanced, this engaging youngster is surprisingly easy to taste right now, but its fruity depth and keen structure tag it as a Pinot that is guaranteed to gain in polish and beauty for a half-dozen years. (Oct 2012)"
91 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$72 list] Acidity dominates this wine, giving it a tartness--like a squeeze of lime juice. Past that is an enormously rich, dry, vibrant wine, explosive in raspberries, cherries and ripe, sweet persimmons. New French oak, with its caramel-like toastiness, is perfectly in keeping with the wine’s volume. It’s a bit disjointed now, but give it 3-4 years in the cellar, and it should come around. Alcohol 13.7%. 309 cases produced. (Sep 2012)"

91 points Wine Spectator: "Tight and detailed, with loamy earth, dried berry, crushed rock, fresh plum and black cherry. Slow to unfold, but does so gracefully, ending with firm tannins. Good to cellar. Best from 2013 through 2023. (9/30/12)"
Producer notes: "The 2010 'Les Pommiers' offers aromas of Bing cherry, pomegranate and plum, with an abundance of floral and perfume notes. The wine enters the palate with an initial burst of ripe, dark fruits that give way to lush and coating tannins. As the wine ages, those abundant youthful tannins will develop suppleness and layers. The beautiful, natural acidity of this vintage creates a mouthwatering finish that leaves one wanting another taste."

92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. Suave cherry and dark berry aromas are complicated by Indian spice and violet nuances. Broad and open-knit, offering sweet blackberry and cherry-cola flavors that provide impressive palate coverage. Gentle tannins build on the long, spicy finish, which leaves notes of bitter cherry and candied flowers behind. I suspect that this pinot will hit its optimum drinking window in the next few years. (Nov/Dec 2012)"
Producer notes: "Lollapalooza, meaning 'the best of its kind', is meant for this bottling that selects the best of our cellar from our highly praised Fiddlestix Vineyard on Santa Rosa Road. Selected for its extreme elegance and sexy, silky finish. Nearly 100 acres of our meticulously-farmed Estate Vineyard are weaned down to a mere couple hundred cases of pure satisfaction. Knowing that one place in the vineyard is not consistently the best, this wine is selected each year by repeated blind tasting of each and every barrel of that given vintage. We seek out the success story of the vintage, which represents the perfect marriage of viticulture and winemaking, and the successful union of clone, barrel and pick day. Like our Seven Twenty Eight , it's always aged in the bottle prior to release for your ultimate enjoyment.
Tasting notes: We love, love, love this wine. It’s loaded with boysenberries and white pepper and simply sings to your palate. Its restrained beauty is what every Pinot noir is meant to be. It exhibits dusty tannins, expansive flavors, hints of laurel and chicory and benefits from our 15th leaf of maturity in the vineyard. Only 225 cases produced."

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Lithe raspberry and cranberry flavors provide the sweetness to balance this wine's earthy savor. There's a dark, woody bass note in the clean finish. Cellar time should bring out the wine's complexity and flavor detail. (Oct 2011)"
91 points James Suckling: "Aromas of citrus and plums with shiitake mushroom undertones. Full body, with a pretty core of ripe fruit and lemon peel. Long and pretty. Try in 2013. (6/11/12)"
90 points Wine Spectator: "Tightly knit, with firm, fresh earth-laced tannins, this medium-bodied red is supple, offering red plum, black cherry and strawberry notes that are elegant and refined. Drink now through 2018. 600 cases made. (10/15/11)"

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Selected from Flowers's most recent planting, 43 acres rising from 1,400 to 1,875 feet above the Pacific, with views of the fog and the ocean below. The best wines from this vineyard have shown glimmers of grand cru sophistication and this 2009 develops in a way that parallels a great Burgundy. It starts off meaty, seemingly simple in its directness, until it begins to deepen, the tannins going through an adolescent moment with a character like spiced tea and cheese rind. By the next day, those tannins have turned toward a ferrous minerality and the wine is racy, dense, floral, as red as persimmon, powerful in an oceanic sense. If you don't believe there is terroir character in California pinot noir, spend some time at this vineyard, then go home and taste this wine. (Oct 2011)"
91 points Wine Spectator: "Tight and vibrant, with dense wild berry, earth, mineral and floral strawberry notes that are slow to unfold unveil more depth and dimension as they do. Drink now through 2018. 1,100 cases made. (10/15/11)"

94 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "The richness and quality of this Pinot Noir are instantly striking. It's like a medieval tapestry, intricately woven and velvety, with interlocking flavors of berry, cherry, cola, mushroom, buttered toast and spice. As powerful as it is, it retains a subtlety that's captivating and elusive. Still, the acids and tannins are strong and unresolved. Cellar this for at least six years. Alcohol 14.5%. (Aug 2012)"
'Very Good,' PinotFile: "14.5% alc., 1,090 cases. This vineyard is 10 miles north of Goldeneye’s Confluence Vineyard where there is more fog. 8 clones of Pinot Noir. More than 100 barrel lots are evaluated three different times in blind tastings over the course of a year to discover lots that are unmistakably Gowan. Moderately dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Intensely fragrant with aromas of black cherries, black currants and blackberries with oak-driven accents. Oak-kissed array of dark fruit flavors, moderately rich and dense, wrapped in firm, mildly astringent tannins, finishing long and lush. A little withdrawn and needs more time to integrate the oak. Still solid the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. (6/25/12)"
Producer notes: "Gowan Creek is the home of our winery and offers a perfect mid-valley winegrowing location that combines warmer Anderson Valley elements with coastal fog and cooling influences from the northern end of the valley. In 2009, this unique terroir produced a lavish beast of a wine with a lush, round palate and layers of brooding blackberry, dark plum, wild cherry, earth and Asian spice. Intriguing oak-inspired pencil shaving and oatmeal cookie notes add depth and the wine offers great finishing tannins and spice. Barrel aged 16 months in French oak (70% new; 30% second vintage). Alcohol 14.5%."

93 points Wine Spectator: "A big yet graceful style, rich and concentrated, with ripe blackberry, wild berry, black licorice and cedary oak notes. Still quite young, raw and tannic, yet the flavors sail on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2021... (6/15/12)"
Producer notes: "This 2010 Pinot Noir is a wine loaded with raspberry, currant, and cedary oak supported by firm yet silky tannins on the palate. The finish lingers showing more layers of balanced, perfumed fruit. Barrel aged 11 months in new French oak. 980 cases produced."
