Producer notes: "The Becker Landgraf Winery lies in the heart of Rhinehessen. Gently rolling hills where good wine grows: this is our home. We, Julia and Johannes Landgraf, live here with our family. And with our winery we are continuing in the tradition of two winemaking families while pursuing our own very special approach. We are passionate winemakers with visions of our own but our feet planted firmly on the ground. And as down-to-earth people we have opted for a close-to-nature winemaking method. J2 stands for the power of double passion and the interplay of mutual inspiration. We are fortunate enough to share a philosophy of living and working: our conscious commitment to quality. We bear the responsibility for our work in a joint partnership and decide jointly what is good for us and our wines. Our estate wines represent the basis of the wines from our estate. Even at the vineyard stage we take great care. Fresh, fruity white wines and delicate red wines with a fine body. These wines are fun to drink and are the perfect accompaniment to any meal."

89 points Fine Wine Review: "The Kabinett Jean-Baptiste off-dry is from the Pettenthal, Hipping, and Ölberg vineyards in Nierstein with a little bit of Nackenheim Rothenberg mixed in. The wine shows some smokiness in the nose and is round with some sweetness, minerality, and clarity in the mouth and again some smokiness on the finish. (Issue #131/132; 2011)"
Rudi Wiest Selections: "The wine offers a wonderful nose of grapefruit and lemonade; it is so fresh and bright. On the palate the wine has excellent weight and texture for a Kabinett, but still allows the rich clay and fine slate mineral details to show through. A lovely bottle of Kabinett, and we feel it could be the best 'Jean Baptiste' Gunderloch's made to date."

92 points Wine Spectator: "[$36 list] The lush texture, as well as peach and apricot aromas and flavors, gets lift from the refined, vibrant structure. This is elegant, hinting at anise and mineral on the long, savory finish. Best from 2013 through 2030. 300 cases made. (11/15/10)"
91+ points Fine Wine Review: "I find the Serrig Schloss Saarsteiner Spätlese a little sweet for drinking now, but with the balance this wine has and its steely lime fruit, it should mature into a most attractive wine with 8-10 years’ aging. It is medium-light and firm on the texture with quite a bit of depth. 8.0% stated alcohol. (Issues 131 & 132; 2011)"
90 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$36 list] From a mixture of vines younger than those that informed its two drier Spatlese siblings, the 2009 Serriger Schloss Saarstein Riesling Spatlese evinces scents and succulently juicy palate presence of nectarine, lime, and Persian melon on a seductively creamily-textured palate, complimented by hints of salted caramel and nut oils. At only 8% alcohol, it certainly boasts levity, but also prominent sweetness. I suspect this will show well for at least two decades, and as its sense of sweetness gradually backs off -- though don't expect a noticeable change for at least ten years -- further nuances may well be revealed. (Jan 2011)"
Producer notes: "A racy and elegant wine. Clear and fine, bouquet of citrus, pineapple, black currant and dry apple. Fresh and elegant acidity. Alcohol: 8.0%. Acidity: 0.84% (8.4 g/l). Residual sugar: 7.49% (74.9 g/l)."

93 points Wine Spectator: "This is dry, yet ripe and rich, boasting pineapple and apple flavors on a juicy frame, with a touch of peppery greens. It's all beautifully balanced and lingers on the aftertaste. Drink now through 2023. 300 cases made. (4/30/11)"
91 points Joel B. Payne (International Wine Cellar): "[$62 list] Apricot pit, honeysuckle and pine nuts on the nose. The luscious passion fruit flavor is held in check by the wine's crisp, saline acidity. Juicy and dynamic on the long, complex finish. (Jan/Feb 2011)"

88 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$21 list] This wine starts off a bit funky and earthy on the nose, but opens up to reveal more floral and lime-like scents. At 13% alcohol, it’s medium bodied and impressively dry tasting, with lime blossom and pineapple fruit balanced by crisp acids. Drink now. (Mar 2011)"
88 points Fine Wine Review: "The Bingen trocken is from a fascinating corner, where Nahe meets Rheinhessen, with Rheingau immediately across the river, and Mittelrhein just a little bit up the road. The wine is crisp and crystalline with floral notes. There is some roundness here and the acidity is unobtrusive, although present. There is just a wisp of sweetness if you don’t serve the wine cold. The wine can be drunk now, but I think ideally will be held another 4-6 years. 13.0% stated alcohol. (Issues 131 & 132; 2011)"
Producer notes: "This dry riesling has a great structure with a long finish. ripe fruit aromas dominate and are rounded up with a great acidity which makes it a very food friendly wine. Alcohol: 13%. Acidity: 0.65% (6.5 g/l). Residual sugar: 0.33% (3.3 g/l)."

89 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$17 list] The von Buhl 2009 Riesling Maria Schneider -- this vintage representing an assemblage from several sites -- features kiwi, white peach, and sweet corn with a dusty crushed stone note as well as invigorating salinity in its finish. Twelve grams of residual sugar -- less than usual for this bottling -- suit it perfectly, amplifying the lusciousness of the fruit without engendering any sense of overt sweetness. Slim and refreshing yet with a fine sense of underlying extract and a subtly silken feel, this fine value represents the best installment of its cuvee that I can recall. Enjoy this over the next 3-4 years. (Feb 2011)"
88 points Wine Spectator: "[$17 list] There's a crisp citrus twist to the Bosc pear, apple and spice flavors, with good length on the firm finish. Drink now through 2014. (12/31/10)"
88 points Fine Wine Review: "The Maria Schneider medium dry is fruity but tastes relatively dry (12 g/l residual sugar here -- less than in the past). The wine is silky and mineral. (Issue #131/132; 2011)"

93+ points Fine Wine Review: "The Forster Jesuitengarten Spätlese is spicy in the nose, but still quite circumspect. In the mouth, the wine is medium-sweet and medium-full with spicy fruit -- a classic from this great vineyard. (Issue #131/132; 2011)"
91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "[$40 list] Von Buhl pulled way back on the residual sugar in their 2009 Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Spatlese compared with other recent vintages, and the result is more than sweet enough to support both its decadent, musky floral perfume of peony and heliotrope and its very ripe peach fruit, yet discreet enough to be well-balanced even for immediate consumption. Peach kernel, green herbs, salt, and crushed stone all serve for fascinating counterpoint, and a soothingly creamy texture is allied to refreshing primary juiciness and lift. This ought to delight for at least a dozen years; though I am not convinced it is structured for longer-keeping. (Feb 2011)"
Rudi Wiest Selections: "The nose is an exciting mix of white peach fruit, with darker black licorice notes. Interestingly the wine doesn't have quite the residual sugar you'd expect for Pfalz Spätlese (only 41 gm/l), so it's well delineated and delicate in form. There are peach and orange flavors on the palate with an undercurrent of brown sugar. The wine shows very well, and is easily one of our favorite Spätlesen of the vintage."

86 points Wine Spectator: "[$16 list] Offers fresh cut apple flavors and citrus notes on a lithe frame. Juicy finish is fruity and spicy. Drink now. (2011)"
Importer notes: "Very fine in the nose, with pear fruit and delicate minerality. On the palate the wine's structure is substantial, with very fine details. Very pretty style, so easy and refreshing to drink."
