94 points Wine Spectator: "[$70 list] This has heft, but also superb definition, thanks to the mouthwatering cocoa and anise accents that line the layered flavors of crushed plum, braised fig and boysenberry fruit. The long finish courses with charcoal and alder wood notes. A great example of the more muscular style, this should age beautifully. Best from 2013 through 2025. 25 cases imported. (9/30/12)"

94 points Wine Spectator: "[$70 list] Gorgeous cocoa and bitter espresso aromas and flavors slowly give way to dark, steeped currant, plum and blackberry fruit notes, while the back end struts with ample charcoal and singed bay leaf accents. Riveting acidity runs underneath it all. Best from 2013 through 2025. 75 cases imported. (10/15/12)"

93 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "[$70 list] Inky purple. Intense aromas of blackberry, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate, with a bright mineral overtone. Dense, sappy and vibrant, with impressive energy to its black fruit compote, licorice and violet pastille flavors. Finishes with lively acidity, insinuating spiciness and broad, youthfully chewy tannins. This is definitely built for the long haul. (Mar/Apr 2013)"
93 points Wine Spectator: "[$70 list] A textbook version, displaying a slightly gutsy feel to the full-bodied currant, blackberry and dark cherry fruit laced with tangy iron, singed bay leaf and dark olive notes. The taut, minerally finish will need some time to round into form. Rock-solid and worth cellaring. Best from 2013 through 2024. 100 cases imported. (9/30/12)"

90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Bright red. Spicy blackcurrant and licorice aromas are complemented by potpourri and smoky minerals and perked up by a hint of black pepper. Deep in dark fruit flavor but in no way heavy, with silky tannins adding support. Gains power on the back end and finishes with lingering notes of kirsch and dark berries. (Jan/Feb 2010)"

100 points Robert Parker: "Dense purple to the rim with a nose of graphite, creosote, earth, olives, and black, black, black fruits, the primordial, full-bodied, monumental 2003 Cote Rotie La Landonne is amazing stuff. I suspect this is more akin to a dry vintage port than most Cote Roties ever tend to be, but the purity, the richness, the texture, the length are all out of this world. This wine does need some patience on the part of its purchasers, probably five years, more likely 8-10, but then one of the world’s most compelling elixirs will be at its peak for another 20-30+ years. (Apr 2007)"
99 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dense and rich but also incredibly complex, long and elegant, this is a momumental Côte-Rôtie. It’s darkly fruited and superripe, yet doesn’t lose its essential sense of terroir, remaining marked by scents of pepper and espresso to go with the chocolate and cassis fruit. Velvety in texture, this is the one of Guigal’s 2003 Côte-Rôties that demands a few years of cellaring. Drink 2010-2040. A Cellar Selection. (Sep 2007)"

94 points Robert Parker: "The 2010 Cote Rotie Ampodium is performing much better from bottle than it did last year. Fashioned from a dozen separate terroirs in Cote Rotie, it exhibits tell-tale notes of licorice, tapenade, black currants and black raspberries with a floral component in the background. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied, rich and opulent, this superb Cote Rotie can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 years. (Dec 2012)"
94 points Rhone Report: "Coming from a range of plots located throughout Côte-Rôtie, Rostaing’s 2010 Cuvée Ampodium (formerly the Cuvée Classique) is a gorgeous, supple effort that just begs to be drunk. Showing perfumed, elegant, and sexy aromas and flavors of raspberries, spring flowers, mineral, and assorted spices, it flows seamlessly onto the palate with a medium to full-bodied texture, no hard edges, and gorgeous purity of fruit. Already approachable due to its purity, balance, and texture, it will nevertheless age gracefully for 12-15 years. While slightly behind the two upper tier cuvees, it is certainly the bottle to choose for any near term drinking. (Mar 2013)"
92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Vivid ruby. Intense, spice- and floral-accented aromas of dark berry preserves, potpourri and Asian spices, with a bright mineral nuance gaining strength with air. Fresh and incisive, offering sappy black raspberry and boysenberry flavors and a sexy note of candied violet. Fine-grained tannins shape the long, juicy and penetrating finish, which echoes the floral note. (Mar/Apr 2013)"

96 points Robert Parker: "The prodigious 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne reveals a dense purple color along with a huge, impressive perfume of roasted meats, black currants, black raspberries and scorched earth. This 100% Syrah comes from vines planted on exceptionally steep slopes composed of schist and iron-like sub-soils. Some graphite also makes an appearance in this mineral-dominated, well-delineated, rich, intense wine. (Dec 2012)"
96 points Rhone Report: "More firm, masculine, and concentrated, the 2010 La Landonne is a longer term prospect. A blend of 100% Syrah, it offers deep, layered aromas of currants, black olive, crushed stone, pepper, and hints of bacon on the nose. This is followed by a structured, concentrated, and incredibly rich Syrah that has a no hard edges, a seamless texture, and an overall delineated, focused profile. It needs 5-7 years of bottle age and will have 20+ years of total longevity. (Mar 2013)"
94 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Inky ruby. Aromas and flavors of dark fruit preserves, candied flowers and smoky herbs, with a bright mineral nuance adding lift. Deeply pitched black and blue fruit flavors show serious depth and structure, picking up spiciness and an exotic floral quality on the back half. Chewy tannins give shape and grip to a strikingly long, powerful and spice-driven finish. Rostaing thinks that it would be a 'grave mistake' to broach this wine in its youth and believes that it's 'for the most patient people, not those in a hurry.' (Mar/Apr 2013)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "Very perfumy at first, with violet and singed bay leaf notes leading the way for very silky plum and cherry confiture flavors. The long, dark finish lets an iron hint flitter through as this expands steadily, revealing lots of charcoal-tinged grip that blossoms and blossoms, turning this into an intense, dark, brooding wine. Best from 2015 through 2027. 600 cases made. (7/31/12)"
95 points Robert Parker: "The beautiful 2009 Cote Rotie Cote Blonde offers up aromas of pepper, bouquet garni, spring flowers, roasted meats, black raspberries and kirsch. This fragrant, spicy, floral, opulent, voluptuously textured, medium to full-bodied 2009 possesses terrific purity (a hallmark of all the Rostaing wines). It, too, should drink nicely for 10-15 years, but there is no reason to delay your gratification. Rene Rostaing’s elegant style is well-displayed in both 2010 and the riper, more fleshy, exuberant 2009 vintage. Always the sexiest wine in Rostaing’s cellar is the Cote Rotie Cote Blonde. It includes 3-4% co-fermented Viognier and is always the most seamless wine resembling haute couture. (Dec 2011)"
95 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Deep, vivid ruby. Explosively perfumed aromas of red and dark berry preserves, potpourri, licorice and incense, with intense minerality adding lift and an incisive quality. Black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors shows a striking marriage of depth and vivacity and are complemented by suave floral pastille and fruitcake notes. Refuses to let go on the finish, which lingers with serious fruity, floral persistence. (Mar/Apr 2012)"

17/20 points Gault & Millau: "The 2009 delivers an intense aroma that evokes sweet spice, crème de cassis and pencil lead. On the palate, the texture provides a powerful Syrah, chiseled, with a lingering and complex aroma. Nose: fruity, floral, spicy. Palate: Red velvet, fleshy. Syrah 100%. Alcohol 13.0%. Food accompaniments: Red meat, powerful flavors (lamb, pigeon, ostrich, lamb), game birds."
